News / Presidential elections 2020 - your opinions about campaign, candidates [2222]

TVP declaring Duda the winner, other channels saying too close to call.

Yes, amazing situation. Almost a perfect draw. :):)

Not counting foreign votes.... (and people who still haven't voted).

So, there is still hope that Poland will be ruled by a decent man?

History / Eligiusz Niewiadomski assassinated the first Polish President [23]

That is the way to oppose a totalitarian ideology.

Funny that you talk about opposing totalitarian ideology and at the same time each of your posts is full of totalitarian inclinations.

Me? I was too young to be anything other but a student

Yes, you were too young. But your family were nomenklatura. Simple

Travel / Poland in photo riddles - part 2 [1680]

Yes, exactly. I like it coz it is so traditional, looks exactly like original.

What about this mountain top castle?: It might be difficult so I offer a tip - it wasn`t built by Poles.

Aaah, thanks for this psychological elucidation, I will put it in my books.

UK, Ireland / Hitler gagdets in Britain and Poland? [24]

Hitler was most certainly (according to every respected historian/Nazi studier) NOT insane.

I read it many times that he was paranoid.

To call him insane dismisses him as a one-off and lulls simple people into thinking it can't happen again

No, what makes you so? Paranoid or not, he captivated Germans with his charisma and made them believe they would be great again., The slogan Make America Great Again was invented in Germany first. It was the enthralled nation who voted for Hitler.

So, preventing the horror from happening again is possible by educating the masses so that they won`t believe maniacal leaders who promise them greatness.

Language / Polish opinions on foreign languages? [54]

Yes, I am afraid you will still have to use English when in Poland or Sweden.

No, I dread it because American clients (worked at a call center) were so angry and rude.

I read that Americans are easy-going and friendly. Either I read sth wrong or you had bad luck running into those evil ones.

News / Incredible news from Poland - The president shaved his moustache! [88]

An ex-Afganistan veteran had been keeping a cougar as a feline pet. The court ordered him to give it to the zoo. Instead, he took the cat to the forest and is hiding there with it. The police have been trying to locate them for 2 days to no avail.

The cat looks quite big.

Rambo, give them hell!

Language / Polish opinions on foreign languages? [54]

Oh I might know English the best of any foreign language but I dread having to speak or listen to it

You should work on it to overcome those blockades. Practice is the best solution. In my youth, I was also terribly embarassed to speak English, but after some time I broke the curse.

News / Poland's demographic, migration & fertility rate disaster [34]

baby-bonuses-fit-the-nationalist-agenda-but-do-they-work

Benefits are nice but paying for a private kindergarten when your kid wasn`t accepted by the cheaper state one costs much more than 500 PLN. So, what Polesses expect is friendlier laws and facilities for mothers.

Work / CPAs in Poland? [8]

I know very experienced auditors with both ACCA and CPA qualification that took one of the exams 10 TIME to pass.

Wow, reminds me of medicine, one of the hardest courses to finish. I didn`t know wanna-be accountants are under such pressure, too.

Food / KETO DIET - is it known in Poland? [30]

I tried everything including suggesting that they start smoking (Cover it up)

Do you tolerate garlic? That would work better than smoking. And much healthier, plus it`s an aphrodisiac.

Work / What are job opportunities in Poland for a pharmacist from India? [16]

I am afraid Polish law doesn`t permit bachelor graduates to work as pharmacists because there is no such faculty at Polish universities. . Either full master course,. 5 years, or in the old system a few years ago, , high-school academy course, 2.5 years plus 2 years training. .

News / Green electricity in Poland [41]

Its a bit lacking in ambition - By 2020, Poland is expected to have a total installed capacity of up to 12,500 MW,

Today, on windy days, Poland gets 25% energy supply from wind farms.

Travel / Poland has less sunshine than the UK and Holland? [15]

But still not as sunny as Kiev (1900) and Odessa (2200).

That is why there are vineyards around Odessa (Szabo) while not so many in Poland.

Last time I went to Bratislava it was 36 C, way more than Sofia

If you come from Bulgaria, you should be used to high temps.

Study / Permanent card for International Students in Poland? [16]

This question was probably asked by a wanna be student of medicine. I think if a guy successfully graduates from a 5 year uni course, he or she should speak Polish communicatively so language issues won`t be a problem.

Study / Various education and school issues in Poland. Opinions, stories, controversies. [1006]

with subjects such as Personal Finance,

There is such a subject called Business Basics.

Who needs rote learning random historic dates by heart?

Yes, dates are boring and easily forgotten. But History must be taught - a nation/society which doesn`t know its and general history is lame. Of course, it should be taught in a more interesting way that a simple dull lecture. When I did a replacement class for an absent History teacher, I always prepared additional sources like films and pics.

Study / Various education and school issues in Poland. Opinions, stories, controversies. [1006]

Kids will get their certificates in September

In my school they got them in June, two seperate entrances, each form came at different time, classrooms were disinfected after each group. etc.

You said: if schools reopen. What do you think the possibility is that they won`t? The government claims covid isn`t a threat any longer but that can be only propaganda for election time.

I am constantly thinking about it coz I am not sure how to handle my after-school business.

Kids in the final class won't fail,

Yes, here all students passed and they scored the best results ever. hahaha The number of distinction report cards was record-breaking this year.

tie up a few loose ends on the electronic journal , documentation is all complete, Rada Pedagogiczna

And we are free! Until the next school year. :)

I think I haven`t shown the report card/certificate with distinction here yet. Your average grade result must be at least 4.75 out of 6. In Poland it is called "with a stripe." Stripe means pasek, the same as belt which once was used to punish kids, so the certificate with a belt is a bad one.
