It turns out that Wałęsa was more guilty than I had thought. My impression had been that he signed something just to get the SB off his back and thought he had outfoxed them. But IPN head Łukasz Kamiński reports that the file found at the Kiszczak's also contians receipts signed by Wałęsa for the cash paymetns he had received. Probably the dossiers will reveal many other facts not only about Wałęsa.

Precisely. It is all guesswork. Bring out some solid facts and irrefutable evidence. I'm all for it. But to guess, speculate and insinutate ENDLESSLY (your favourite buzz-word!) for the sole purpose of defaming Poland's most prominent statesman, that's for the birds!


Too bad you know about this only from second-hand reports. In the Poland of the Kaczyński brothers' student days, any qualified person who passed their exams could enter the legal profession. Not the military or police leadership, those were reserved for PZPR loyalists, but medicine, law, engienering, etc. were open to all qualified candidates.

Not when the likes of Lis keep dredging up what is essentially an un-story. The only unfortunate thing is that it is coming so late. If Wałęsa hadn't been so uptight about the Bolek thing and the files were finally opened, analysed and everyone knew who was who, there would have been a bit of rumpus for a year or two and then it would have settled down. Because of the "Nocna zmiana" we have had a quarter-century of this nonsense, deep polarisation of society and there's no end in sight. By postponing the inevitable we are passing bipolar Poland down to the next generation.

By exposing the "układ", millions of people will finally get to know who really won out and cashed in on the roundtable and why so many average Poles have benefited so little from the transformation.

How about bringing out all the facts about Wałęsa and other leaders and let the public decide whetehr tehy have discredited and humliated themselves. Maybe Wałęsa is crystal-clear and Gwiazda was the SB plant at the shipyard.

But neither Wałęsa nor Gwiazda is that important in all this. Every manfuacturer is tryingn to MAKE people buy their product, every party is trying to MAKE people vote for them, every group be it animal-righsters or the anti-smoking lobby is trying to MAKE people support their cause. There's nothing to smear. He signed something - big deal, you probably would have too under the circumstances. He already had 4 or so kids.

He himself has admitted to "signing something" back when. An IPN soruce said he defintiely was registered as a secret collabroator code.named Bolek but thought he was outfoxing the regime. Now it has all backfired.

I do not believe any reasonable analyst claims he was an active informer whose reports harmed those he snitched on. In fact, that's not really important. For historians what's most imporatnt is how, when and why the deal between ex-commies and the compliant wing of the Solidarność-dissident camp was struck and what benefits each side derived therefrom.

One thing is certain, since 1992 the Kaczyński camp have consistetnly opposed all the fellow travellers -- Wałęsa, Mazowiecki, Bielecki, Kwaśniewski, Pawlak, Tusk, Miller, Belka, Buzek et al -- knowing how they got to power. When Maciereiwcz opened his files in 1992, Porozumienie Centrum (Kaczyński's then Centre Accord party) was the only party in teh Sejm without a single ex-PZPR member. Only now are PiS riddled by Delph's "ENDLESS" PZPR types whose name is Piotrowicz.

KOR/Solidarność operatives who co-conspired with ex-regime types to carry out hwat has been called "the transformation". It is becoming exceedingly obvious why the Kaczyńskis, Macierewiczes, Gwiazdas, Walentynowiczes and other true Polish patriots who didn't go along with the conspiracy were sidelined and discredited by the shakers and movers of III RP.

Supposedly Kiszczak secreted those materials away as his insurance policy so he'd have a "hak" on the III RP bigshots in case they started harassing him. Mrs Kiszczak said he told her when he was terminally ill that she should sell the documents if she was ever in a financial bind.

I think it's more interesting to see the kind of bedfellows you get into the sack to discredit PiS. Kotliński, a defrocked priest who aided nad abetted Popiełuszko's convicted murderer, is being investigated on suspicion of contracting a hitman to rub out his former live-in lover who was murdered. A very "savoury" type by your standards, eh? Right up the same alley as your otehr idols nad gurus -- Urban, Palikot and the three stooges sent by Kiszczak to "neutralise" Popiełuszko.


It turns out that contracting a hitman was not a first for Kotliński. Earlier he was invesitgated on suspicon of putting out a contarct on a former SLD finance minister over an unpaid loan of 7 million zł. He also had ties with gangsters of the Pruszków gang and some shady connection with Gazprom, operatives. Yes, a true hero for the jons, Delphs and Rogers of this world!

Kotliński, a defrocked priest and anti-Catholic mud-slinger of the Urban ilk, is a truly shady character. He was linked up with Popiełuszko's murderer Grzegorz Piotrowski and dingbat politico Palikot. One shouldn't put anything past that bloke.

How the whole Church-bashing mafia is linked up is shown by the fact that Urban's article in the now defucnt "Express Wieczorny" was cited by Piotrowski at his trial up in Toruń as a go-ahead signal from above to carry out the the "neutralisation" of the pro-Solditary preacher. Piotrowski was convicted but amnestied early on and sought refuge under Kotliński's wing.
