That is not an argument at all.

It's very much an argument, and yes, the same goes for prohibition of alcohol and other intoxicants. One very major reason American prohibition ws repealed was due to those self same "shady sources" that they allude to.

I would say very strongly, that the risk to women's lives from the home-done abortions that happen anyway is a good enough argument on its own for it to be available on demand. Plus of course all the other compelling arguments.

History / History of two Neighbors: Poland - Germany Interrelations [283]

If we go back in time, was this actually happening and was it really common?

Plenty. There has always been overlap between the two communities and people with a foot in each camp. Lots of Poles have German names and lots of Germans have Polish names. Plus entire cultural groups that straddle both. As Gunther Grass (of Kaszub roots) said, the Kaszubs are too German for the Poles and too Polish for the Germans.

If so, when did these interrelations first start taking place and where does it date back to?

The beginning of settled life. I wouldn't call it 'interrelations' since the borders were fluid and the two nationalities very close.

so he is

Re. the cluster of cells, looks like the Mods deleted the comment we were both replying to.

With the abortion debate, it isn't in any sense about the ethics of abortion. Abortions are available discreetly in Poland despite the current legal restrictions, they are even more available a short hop away on Ryanair, and theyve always been available if you have Pennyroyal tea or a knitting needle.

The issue is twofold. Whether religious and other groups have the right to impose their views and mostly, that the government seems to thing that legal abortion is unacceptable while knowing full well that women are being injured or killed by home-made ones.

Food / Polish bacon doesn't fry up? [70]

raw has the best and most flavor.

Eating raw bacon is a very bad idea for a whole lot of reasons, stomach cancer (a lot of that in Poland due to the processed cold meats) being high on the list.

At least the medical treatment is free here in Europe - a good thing you aren't stuck in Mexico or America or somewhere like that.

Imagine you were put through a paper-shredder.

Given that a cluster of cells has no central nervous system or brain it would hardly care.

So he's a cluster of cells without a brain or central nervous system is he? I know that some of the more conservative posters here manage to post under those circumstances, however I doubt that applies to Smurf.

With these crazy abortion proposals (and Poland already has some of the most restrictive abortion laws in Europe leading thousands of women to go abroad or do it in Poland illegally) it looks like PiS has managed to upset both the anti-abortionists who want it and the women of Poland who don't.

Yep. The fired Polish experts were immediately snapped up by an employer who hires based on ability and now all the Polish taxpayer has is management who admit they know sod all about horses.

Basically something else the PiS flappers have destroyed with their corruption and ineptitude. They are determined to make Poland a laughing stock like the last time they crept in.

I notice that Giertych is back in bed with them now. Are there any depths to which they will not sink?

impressive

Impressive only in its ineptitude and venality.

Every single thing they have attempted has backfired on them and somehow hurt Poland.

I'm wondering if he pays tax on the benefit of having a private plane. Somehow I doubt it.

So when he's out of office and without any sort of immunity, things could get quite interesting about tax evasion.

And then there are pro-perversionists who believe an organ designed to excrete fecal matter should be used for......

You really do seem to have have no redeeming features whatsoever, except for being old and therefore unable to spout your filth for much longer. Comments like that come across as being from a particularly vile individual.

The only good thing is that any sane person reading your posts would be so repelled by them that they would immediately believe the opposite.

Looks like the women of Poland are having a go at that Szydlo person on social media. A hashtag is currently trending that translates as #HeavyPeriod

The Polki won't just sit back and let them get away with this one. Wrongfooted again...

Genealogy / Want to find a person [770]

Google Pawel Zawadzki Grajewo and bingo. It brings up several propel with that name and in that place on Facebook. Zawadzki is a common name, Pawel even commoner, however Grajewo is a small place and it is worth your while (if you haven't done so) to see if any of those are the person you want.

Now you'll note that none of them were abusing the public purse as the dud Duda has been.

weren't you asked

Weren't you asked to say (just a few posts ago) whether, if you or your wife were on trial (this can happen so easily to anyone) whether you'd rather be tried under the

Judicial impartiality, objectivity, fairness, legality, etc

that you think is "all very nice" or the PiS system, which you were pretending to defend...

Quite. Even The Queen, probably the most well-known person in the world uses the train (and a normal one unless it's a special occasion) when she travels between her various homes and when that family uses helicopters, private planes etc for personal use they do have to pay for that.

Provided they keep the costs to a minimum and don't use a private plane when there's a perfectly good scheduled flight.

Or better still, pay for their weekend holidays themselves.

human lif

And this is the issue. The anti-abortionists due to religious influence even believe that a cluster of cells with no brain or central nervous system is 'human life'.

Looks like people are voting with their feet on this one. To paraphrase Smurf, this time they've really dropped a bollock.

They did exactly that in Ireland, and the Church together with certain politicians wanted to do that in Poland after 1989.

I wonder what the attitude of the politicians who want to ban abortions would be about a woman or girl who was pregnant by her father, brother, son or grandfather...

C! Aka as the 11th Commandment: Nie zawracaj głowy bliźniemu swemu!

So basically you were caught out in your lies and other intellectual dishonesty. Attempting to defend a policy that you don't even support yourself.

Drive carefully tomorrow, you wouldn't want to be arrested and charged for anything under the PIS system which you don't support and end up being tried under a system where

Judicial impartiality, objectivity, fairness, legality, etc. all sound very nice, but

are, as Jarosław Kaczynski wanted, officially not part of the legal process.

In no sense is the so-called PiS "pro-Polish". In fact everything they have tried to do is anti-Polish.

You really should try to give up on your habit of defending the indefensible, as pointed out on this very page.

Now which is it, A or B.

Bieggers, tell us about your

social distinctions in how people dress in Poland

This should be quite amusing.
And how this relates to the current regimes attempts to damage women's rights over their own bodies.

A rhetoricaa question but rooted in sophsitry

A straightforward question that you are afraid to answer.

Basically

Judicial impartiality, objectivity, fairness, legality,

underpin the way justice works in civilised and developed countries. The appalling PIS regime want to undermine that.

And you still haven't answered the question, since you are very very well aware (and certainly comeback experience here) that you were trying to defend the indefensible.

So which is it, A or B?

This is why abortion was decriminalized back then

And the majority of society have no issues at all with the present law, namely that a woman can decide to retain or terminate a pregnancy.

Basically, if anti-abortionists don't want an abortion, nobody is forcing them to have one.

Genealogy / Name of a town in Poland in early 1900's [32]

Looking at it, and thinking about it, Przemków could be a good bet. Not just because the fourth letter could very be an e, but because Pruszków was beginning to be a bit of a boom town in those years and very much somewhere that people went to rather than from.

Is there a Jewish connection at all? Both places has sizable Jewish communities then, one more than the other.

And even then how would anyone know whether the judge didn't offer the overseer a proposal he could not turn down.

That, Po, means precisely nothing. Basically blustering since youre trying to defend a PIS action that you do not yourself support..

Judicial impartiality, objectivity, fairness, legality, etc. all sound very nice, but...who pays the piper calls the tune!

No, Po. They are not " all very nice". They are essential in a developed and civilised society, as well you know.

A question for you. Just answer A or B. If you or your Mrs were accused of a crime and on trial, would you prefer that trial to be conducted:

A:. With

Judicial impartiality, objectivity, fairness, legality, etc

Or

B: Without

Judicial impartiality, objectivity, fairness, legality, etc

The 'Pvseakov' thing just looks like something copied incorrectly from handwriting. Looking at the scan, it might not be Pruszków, however the first three letters are certainly Prz which does narrow it down a bit.

Looking at it more closely, that official should have taken a course in penmanship!

Maybe Pruszków or something similar. Pruszków certainly existed and was growing in 1904.

A scan of the actual document would help since there are many possibilities.

Which for the very poor in Poland could be an impossibility.

Which will just lead to women doing it themselves, with all the dangers that follow. Evidently that's what the extreme Catholics prefer, a desperate woman dying of sepsis after trying to abort, rather than a cluster of cells being removed at a hospital.

Really Greggs? You know from all that way away that:

Another "massive demonstrations" 99.99% of Poles haven't even heard about.

Fascinating you think that only 0.01% of Poles (3853) have heard of tomorrow's rally in the capital. Hardly worth the TV companies doing a news service if only that many watch the box. And the televised studio discussion about it today can't have been very popular, can it...

Poland under a PiS government = PRL but with Rome instead of Moscow

As Associated Press say:

it is horrible because it's going in the direction of fascism," Kijowski said. "But it's probably more funny because he wants to be a dictator but doesn't have the power for that."

Since time immemorial the judicial scales have always favoured the rich and mighty as well as those currently in power.

So precisely how does reverting from the system used in the U.K., the U.S. etc. to a less fair system used in Communist times help to counteract that?
