USA, Canada / Poles in America: How do you pronounce your Polish surname? [128]

I find it hilarious when Americans can't even say their last name. "Dźan-COW-skee" sounds ridiculous.

I think some of them Americanize the pronunciation on purpose to save the embarrassment. The Polish language does sound pretty funny for Americans.

News / CO2 emissions in Poland. Should Poland go nuclear or stick with clean coal technologies? [59]

^I wonder how long it would take before the cost of building a wind farm is made up for.

I do find it impressive however that a single wind turbine can produce 7 megawatts of electricity at full capacity. So potentially, if just one wind turbine was working at full capacity for an entire year (not a realistic assumption), it could produce over 22 million MWh of energy.

Life / Professional feminists' of Poland meet-up [631]

In fact, many feminists have written that logic is sexist. The same goes for "accountability" or the lack of it.

Yes, the pseudofeminists do say that. Another funny thing pseudofeminists say is that multiple choice exams are sexist because men are more willing to take risks...

Anyway, a fine line needs to be drawn between feminism and pseudofeminism. The latter unfortunately sheds a negative light on the feminist movement. Feminists need to take more initiative to criticize the pseudofeminists. Especially those particular idiots that blame white Christian men for helping to oppress "poor Muslims" by supporting Israel's right to exist.

Love / Polish women are the most beautiful in the world! [1718]

Emily Ratajkowski: From Wiki....

I think the big boobies come from her English side.

Polish women are the fattest in Eastern Europe

Yeah, I agree (even though technically Poland is in Central Europe). I've been to Ukraine and Russia and I thought the people in general were thinner than most Poles. That does not mean all Poles are fat though. :-)

Love / Polish women care about traditional values [34]

Based on my observations, I would agree. I think in general western countries are more socially progressive which is why in places like the US, UK, Germany, and France, women have less of a desire to be housewives. I would also have to say western women are less excited about having children. Just my observations though. No need to rustle your jimmies over them.

Life / How are electric cars doing in Poland? [413]

It all depends where you get your electricity from. Yes, the production of electric cars is pretty bad for the environment but in the end, you more than make up for it by driving it for years.

Over 90% of Polish power is generated through coal fired plants, coal fired power plants are the biggest source of man made CO2 emissions. This makes coal energy the single greatest threat facing our climate.

Is the EU going to be useful and actually do something about that?

I have seen a few electric cars in Warsaw- they all have been Prius'

I probably should have specified all-electric cars. Prius cars are nice, but they are hybrid and therefore they still require gasoline/petrol.

Not completely eco-friendly...

Also, the Tesla Model S smokes the Cygnet in performance. So no, the Cygnet does not have better performance than all electric cars.

Life / How are electric cars doing in Poland? [413]

There is no doubt we need to lower our dependence on fossil fuels. In America, we have Tesla Motors which is probably the best electric car company on the planet. In the US, Tesla Motors is doing very well with the Tesla Model S car. It is competing very well with other luxury cars from BMW, Audi, and others which is impressive considering Tesla Motors has very few dealerships.

I was wondering, are electric cars popular in Poland? Are they growing in popularity? Do Poles realize we need to lose our dependence on cars powered by combustion engines?

Life / Professional feminists' of Poland meet-up [631]

There are some really childish arguments here. Can we all just agree there are good feminists and bad feminists? We need to put the light on good feminists and we have to absolutely ridicule the bad radical ones (hopefully with the help of good feminists).

It's hard not to be worse than Bush who was a liberal ******* who did a lot of damage to the Republican Party.

I also agree with Zimmy. Margaret Thatcher would make a much better president than Bush. May she rest in peace.

In this thread, people are generalizing all feminists. There are good feminists and there are not so good feminists. Feminism is not monolithic!
