Now, the theological understanding of love is not the same as you'll find in soap operas, but is a total self-giving to another solely for the sake of the good of the other. So, Paul is actually saying to men: give yourselves completely to your women not for your sake but for the good of women.

In other words, men are to be at the service of women for the good of women.

But, fellas, it's not the weight of the brain that matters but the efficiency if its circuitry. Think about the comparison of a 2 ton mainframe computer from back in the day to a lightweight idiotphone that fits in your pocket, which is more powerful? Hence, the white American brain coming in so light. It's nimble, not clunky. Quick, not sluggish. Trim, not obese.

That's why this victory lap is premature. Only time will tell how successful this mission was.

Satellite showed a lengthy line of cargo trucks outside the Fordow site just last week.

I'd think the regime would have to go into deep hiding, then. Their heads will not be attached to their bodies for much longer if they did something like that. The response from US or Israel would be horrible and devastating.

Yes, it can be destructive-not only to others but America as well, see Iraq.

But mostly the things you highlight are not much different than other countries...to varying degrees.

I'd disagree about America doing anything to protect its boys. I've been around a lot of soldiers and marines who were in Iraq or Afghanistan. Most of them griped about the engagement rules and restrictions put on them to prevent collateral damage or death of innocent civilians. Some of what they described was insane and completely the opposite of doing everything to protect the American soldier or marine.

Interesting enough, I too don't want us the bomb whoever we want whenever we want...remember I'm an American Catholic (notice I didn't say a Carholic American). I'm not certain bombing the Iranian nuke sights were the right thing to do i'm still thinking it through.

Where we disagree is the bully thing. I don't think we act as a bully, we act like all other countries: to further our interests. The difference is our economic and military power projects more boldly which may give off the patina of bullying.

I'll go even further and say that more times than not our projection has a residual effect that benefits others-obviously not all benefit, but most do.

But then again, maybe I'm blinded by the glare of Old Faithful and am more naive than your cold war style wishes.

It concerns me to a degree. I think you may be giving them more weight than they actually have. Certainly Wolfowitz and Perle had out-sized influence during the Dubja Bush years. I think those types have less sway nowadays-Neocons are more the red-headed stepchild.

Of course they were beneficial to Israel. But, Israel gave up the land it did not because it wanted to, but because America pushed it . The point is America isn't Israel's groveling lap dog. It is the principal party in the relationship. That doesn't mean America may not sometimes do Israel's bidding, but it doesn't do it simply for the sake of Israel. America usually does it because it sees benefit for itself.

In other words, American interest drives its policy, which is to say it is no different than most developed countries: it does things primarily for its benefit.

Not the point I'm making. My point is we can't be over confident and think with certitude that Iranians will now overthrow the regime or the regime will be weakened domestically. These type of events have a way of rallying populations around its leaders. We need to be hyper-vigilant to ensure this doesn't become more than the intended goal of damaging Iran's nuclear capacity.

I think Iran is a little more complex a society than that, Beebs.

This could be a genuine coalescence of negative sentiment toward the US.

This could go either way. And, if it does go with the overthrow of the mullah regime, who takes its place? It could become some kind of military junta.

In the last few months, he has also said that Iran currently has the capacity for a nuclear weapon and it was in serious breach of its nuclear agreements.

I have healthy reservations when it comes to Israel, but from their perspective it is easy to see their concern with Iran's claim of peaceful nuclear development. Iran sits on very rich oil and gas reserves, yet it says it needs to develop an expensive nuclear program to meet its energy needs.

From what I understand, you need uranium to be enriched at levels below 10% for energy, but Iran has enrichment at 60% or maybe higher. The only countries who have those levels of enriched uranium are ones that produce nuclear weapons.

Alongside its nuclear production, Iran has been developing a rather robust ballistic missile program. These missile have a top range of about 1500 miles.

For the past decade or so Iran has been developing a network of proxies to confront and rid the ME of Israel (and US forces), Soleimani's so-called Ring of Fire, which has actively attacked Israel.

You put all this together, and it isn't unreasonable for Israel to want to mitigate any possible threat.


I hope not. I'm hoping the aim is to develop a counter action to China's Belt and Road initiative.
