Genealogy / Looking for a town in Germany-Poland (circa 1868-1882) Kronow [3]

There are two or three places called Kronowo. in Warmia-Mazury. They are south-east of Gdańsk and were part of Germany in that period. Kronow sounds like a (official then) German rendering. One was called Kronau before 1945, the others I'm not sure about.

Language / Poszłam or poszedłem [30]

In a way poszłem may have resulted from hearing poszłam and just changing the ending

Logical; it's how languages work and how they evolve. I still like some of the quirks though.

Language / Poszłam or poszedłem [30]

poszłam

I've heard Brits (married to Poles) say "jestem chora" etc., probably just repeating what they hear!

They matter for sure; they can grate on some people's ear. My pet hate in English is people using "less" when "fewer" is correct. It does seem to be changing as languages do.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

The one where every kind of criminal and would-be criminal doesn't have extremely easy access to firearms. The one where police don't have to go about their duties wary that they'll be shot. The one where schools don't have to do 'live shooter drills'.

An ex-Pole from Poland.

So in fact a Pole from Poland...

incorrect though

Can a form become correct? How do languages evolve?

Law / Landlord forces me to pay internet+TV [17]

US 1930 Census asking whether the family had a TV.

Still experimental there until 1941. Very few sets and only in a few cities. Poland had TV from 1937 to 1939, as far as I know just in Warsaw.

Language / Poszłam or poszedłem [30]

poszłam

Some people say poszłem where they mean poszedłem. Others criticise it as incorrect however common it is. One of a few similar issues.

USA, Canada / Historic(al) Americans and their ties with Poland/Poles [78]

Here's some more about him and his connection to Poland. I wonder if he ever visited:

"the family name was previously spelled Gatza and Gaca."

You deliberately violated forums rules by altering another poster's comments a

Simply removing extraneous words (and making that very clear).

Real Estate / Getin Noble Bank / Dombank - it is possible to cancel mortgage agreement in CHF? [41]

Unfortunately everyone is smart but years later.

Most people were smart enough at the time and not greedy.

but there won't be a lot of time,

There should be zero time. As the Financial Times said, it was an act of collective stupidity. At the time, a few people I know said I was daft not to get such a mortgage; they are the one's now eating catfood.

John Wayne Gacy

The famous Polish-American, arrested clutching a rosary in his hand...

POGO the clown, which stood for Gacy being Polish and on-the-go,"

serial killer John Wayne Gacy, who unfortunately was a Polish-American.

The interesting (from the website that Po3 used to write for) link's in English, Bieggers, so you'll be able to read it.

Real Estate / Getin Noble Bank / Dombank - it is possible to cancel mortgage agreement in CHF? [41]

The idea of taking out credit in a foreign currency you don't have was frankly insane, somethong not to do unless you're very rich. In which case it's just deeply unwise. It is bizarre to expect greed and stupidity to be compensated.

Looks like the situation will get worse with inflation and the way the zloty is heading.

It looks like the guy who shot Lee Harvey Oswald. Was he called Jack Ruby, a sort of gangster?

What about this guy? Something in common with Ruby, and also with roots in Poland...
