USA, Canada / Poles Living in the Chicago Area [343]

It's inclusive. Nobody is excluded from expressing an opinion (rather like here in Poland in general).

There's always the Polish-language section though, if you prefer.

Work / Chances of working in Poland as an IT System / Server Administrator? ( I have 3 years experience ) [17]

Can you please tell me is there demand for sys admins in Poland?

Have you tried looking at praca.pl or any of their rival recruitment platforms? Having said that, it's a slow period for recruitment right now due to Covid.

Poles didnt swamp the UK and didnt drag down the standard of living,

The people there who are anti-migration would (and do) strongly disagree with you.

Anyway, your opinions on recruitment (apart from being anti-Polish) don't help the person who's asked the question.

Off-Topic / Are Polish Christians here? [160]

trust funds

From ancestors? Or relatives. The Duke of Wherever is hardly typical of anything.

Tax avoidance is Christian ?

1. Render unto Caesar.
2. Above all, the meaning of the Last Supper.

do poles give to the poor?, as they typically avoid taxes at every opportunity

Are most actually Christian or just going through the motions?

Inheritance

From ancestors?

Not many people inherit a medieval manor house from an ancestor 10 generations back. Nor, necessarily, do they inherit any of that ancestor's genes.

Is that another tale from

Actual doctors.

There no such a saying just a vulgar slogan copied from aboard.

There is such a saying; and very topical right now.

IF there would be universal child and health care system i

has a strong representation on this board.

And it seems that the mainstream pro-choice movement has a stronger representation in Poland than the anti-choice extremists.

the government cannot back down on it

We'll see...

parents of diabled children now receive more support

Yet there's an option for someone not to be the parent of a profoundly disabled kid, or or not to give birth to a malformed mass of flesh without a brain.

Sadly, the monsters in government now expect women to carry such a foetus to term. Hence protests by Poles on a scale never before seen.

And the government will back down on this.

abortions were conducted on 6-months

Pregnancies are terminated when appropriate. If you think they shouldn't happen, let us know how many severely disabled people you've cared for until the end of their short and difficult lives.

Children are not their mothers' bodies

A foetus isn't a child.

Perhaps you prefer illegal home abortions.

Well, it is about killing of a human being,

An unviable foetus that has at best a few days of misery to actually live. Perhaps you get off on their suffering.

Speaking for Polish women now? Have they voted you to be their spokesman?

No they're speaking more than adequately for themselves right now. They don't need me or you or any other male to tell them what to do with their bodies. As the Polish saying goes, moja pizda, moja decyzja...

murder

This isn't about 'murder'. It's about forcing women to carry foetuses that aren't viable.

It's also about women being able to access terminations in sterile and regulated conditions, instead of getting out the coat hanger.

The scale of the protests show that Polish women want the same access to terminations as any other.

50 Papaya seeds

Pennyroyal tea was what they used to use in the UK. It's still on sale.

Travel / Poland in photo riddles - part 2 [1680]

Noc Kupały or Noc Świętojańska

The group I belong to just do a bonfire with a small ceremony then release Wianki into the river.

The date is close-ish though.

If your joints ache, rub amber spirit on them until the pain is gone.

I prefer anti-inflammatory meds and painkillers, however painkillers strong enough to actually work are habit-forming, hence the appeal of medical marijuana.

Flower remedies, incantations, reiki and hopi candles just don't cut the mustard. Amber spirit (maybe better in another thread) sounds interesting. How does it work?

Once the older people see that it doesn't cause people to rape and kill as it use to be promoted

That will come. Interestingly, the police are often advocates for legalisation. They'd rather go into a house full of stoners than a house full of drinkers.

it takes one gram to roll a nice sized joint for two people

In Europe they're usually a lot more sparing than that, and mixed with tobacco or (nowadays) neutral 'fill' made from the leaves..

You're just out of practice rolling them jon.

Sadly I am. If I go and get a prescription, it'll be back to the Camberwell Carrot (and my physical joints will stop aching).

to get caught

Only if people have something illegal to be caught with. If you don't, there's nothing to worry about.

And remember, it's now available legally on prescription here.

Life / Why are Poles always so miserable? Why do they never smile? [512]

What about Poles?

In the public sphere (shops etc), and especially those in cities there's very little bonhomie. Shop assistants even argue with customers.

Similar in Berlin and Prague. In Western Europe shopping etc is a more pleasant experience.

When core of our civilization is healed and strong enough

You'll be waiting a long time.

And meanwhile, Poland is still RC and looking west.

Forget term Roman Catholic

Why?

same as we dealt with Constantinople.

You mean Istanbul, Turkey's largest city.

Anyway, Christianity in Poland is staunchly Roman Catholic, except for a minority in the Kresy and converts to American and German style evangelicalism.
