Also, it should have been Sikorski from the start, not Trzaskowski who already lost one elections to Duda and is a president of Warsaw (a capital city is rarely liked by people in other regions), but Tusk wanted someone more easily influenced, so in the end he got what he deserved. It's a shame and embarassment for Poland, so if Tusk has a bit of honour, he should now resign as PM.

Plus more thugs in the presidential palace and state-run institutions, presidential pardons for PiS crooks and thieves, and of course Nawrocki himself is beyond the reach of the law now. President can only be judged by the Constitutional Tribunal, and it's not going to happen. Again - a sad day for Poland. We are moving away from the European mainstream and closer to Belarus and Hungary.

I don't hold it against Braun and Mentzen voters that they voted for Nawrocki (93% and 90% respectively). It was easy to predict. However, the 10% of Biejat voters, 14% of Hołownia's, 16% of Zandberg's and 19% of Senyszyn's 1st round voters might have problems looking into the mirror in the coming years.

Sometimes the count is quicker in certain comissions in large cities, there's no rule really. The USA, however, is surely already counted and they definitely voted for Nawrocki. It will probably swing to Nawrocki, then back to Trzaskowski and will stay there. I'd say 51,5% for the Warsaw's president.

Let me, therefore, explain.

In the 90s skinheads in Poland were divided into three groups (well, three main groups anyway). Nationalist-Catholic - my bunch, we listened to Legion and were Polish nationalists without any ubermenschen, Arian, nazi nonsense; national-socialist (what one would call neo-nazi), they listened to Blood and Honour and they somehow managed in their heads to reconcile being Polish and nazi lol. These two groups didn't exactly love each other (to put it mildly). There was also a third group, Slavic-pagan (Tejkowski and Sztorm 68), and some of them evolved into weird leftist communist skinheads - a strange minority.

Did I go to football games, fight police and opposing teams' fans? Sure. And today, when I look back, I am neither proud nor ashamed of it. It was testosterone mixed with a healthy dose of youthful stupidity. Also, years of watching war movies and playing war in the playground played their part too. Children are raised a bit differently nowadays.

One thing that I have to say though is that my skinhead pals were the best comrades one could ever hope to have, and two of them are still in my closest circle of friends. They both have higher education (one of them received a ministerial award for his MA thesis) families and good jobs, and don't have any criminal record apart from a few short detentions before or after football games. In case of Nawrocki it's different; his pals were/are(?) regular gansters, criminals and pimps, and he seems to be not only proud of it but also still unhealthily fascinated with his former(?) mates.

In reality his government has adopted a strict stance against illegal migration and has implemented several measures to reinforce border security and control migration flows - going as far as waiving the right to apply for asylum for those who cross Polish border illegaly, for which he was criticised severely by various European leftists, but he doesn't give a toss. :) Also, Tusk has firmly opposed the European Union's Migration and Asylum Pact, particularly its relocation mechanism. He stated that Poland would not accept additional migrant quotas, emphasizing that the country has already taken in a significant number of Ukrainian refugees and cannot bear further burdens.

He is an old cunning fox, Tusk - the older and wiser I get, the more I appreciate him.

What's the worst that Trzaskowski could do? Swerve left and promote some silly woke leftist agendas? So what? Poles are, by and large, a conservative society - he would just be ignored. He could, on the other hand, help to put PiS crooks and thieves behind bars where they belong.

What's the worst that Nawrocki could do? Quite a lot. Introduce legislative obstruction, issue presidential pardons to his PiS mates, ruin relations with the EU, and last but not the least be a walking embarrassment to any decent person in Poland.


Because, after seizing power from PiS they couldn't go after every Kaczyński's orangutang everywhere. If Nawrocki wasn't named a presidential candidate he would definitely be left alone at least until a new democratic president was sworn in.

I always admired your ability to read Polish poltics. It was quite impressive a long while ago when you said that Russia will have to wait until PiS comes back to power before the Russian-Polish relations can improve (if Russia is still ruled by Putin, of course). An ordinary Russian would see PiS as vehemently Russophobic but you saw deeper than that.

At the moment Russian sympathy is with Nawrocki as a presidential candidate. Russian intelligence services can see clearly that PiS may have started as patriotic ordoliberals but they have mutated into quasi-putinists, so immediately a platform of mutual understanding emerged. And that is precisely why PiS have to be kept at bay if Poland is to grow in wealth, power and influence. Later (like 15-20 years later), I can even conceive power in Poland passing to Konfederacja, but definitely not just yet. They don't have ample structures or adequate human resources, and hence would be easy prey for foreign influence. Tusk, Sikorski, Kosiniak-Kamysz et al, on the other hand, are independent and smart enough to use foreign support without becoming agents of foreign influence themselves. In 2045 I can imagine a PSL-Konfederacja government successfully leading Poland to even greater prosperity.

Not in two days but in about a week if Nawrocki sued right away under the electoral procedure (which he would have done if he were innocent). They would ask Onet to substantiate their claims, question the witnesses and give a ruling on whether Onet's article constituted slander. That's exactly what the electoral procedure was created for. Nawrocki, for obvious reasons, didn't want witnesses to speak about his past in the court of law before Sunday, so he went for a long civil suit.


Excuse me? I have three different degrees including electronic engineering and physics (the third one, as the most embarrassing, I shall keep to myself :)), if that's a narrow field then I would like to see someone with a wide one!

It is precisely because I am well able to distinguish facts from bullsh*t that I don't want to see Kaczyński's marionette anywhere near the presidential palace.


The negative recommendation was issued in 2021. Obviously, during the PiS rule it was swept under the carpet. If you claim - as you would seem to be - that the materials and documents gathered by ABW in the case were falsified then, as an honest citizen, you have to notify the authorities of a criminal offense. No? I didn't think so.


For a very simple reason. PO has to wait for Duda to be out of office; otherwise he would just issue one presidential pardon after another. I can assure you that as soon as a democratic president is sworn in, the trials and long term prison sentences will follow. DePiSsification will be ruthless and thorough.
