Life / Why Do You Love Poland? [907]

Yes many companies are state owned or the state is majority shareholder. Nonetheless 2/3 of capital in Poland is foreign which isn't a bad thing but the government and a lot of poles as well want certain sensitive sectors to be in polish hands

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Positive_Christianity

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Institute_for_the_Study_and_Elimination_of_Jewish_Influence_on_German_Church_Life

The Nazis understood that religion and a government controlled society could not coexist. So did the commies and Karl Marx. They both hoped that science and reason would 'overcome superstition.' Nonetheless they understood that totally doing away with christianity especially in a country where 99% of people are either Catholic or protestant was unrealistic.

@Jaskier

No one's absolving Hitler or the Nazi's fool. What myself and countless others who have ww2 survivors in our families and who live amongst us are saying that Soviets were worse than Nazis, not that the Nazis were angels. You've been brainwashed so much that you can't even objectively look at historical facts. I know communism is the new hip thing now so there's tons of whitewashing of Soviet atrocities but it won't change how polish ww2 survivors and polish people feel today. To the vast majority of poles, both survivors and not, the Soviets were far worse than Nazis. Again, not that the Nazis were angels, but nonetheless in general non combatants were treated far worse by Soviets

My family was send to a camp and forced labour.

Same. By Soviets... for decades not a few months of years

Hitler hated christiananity because it was started by the jews who he loathed

Can you provide a source for that claim? I dont recall hitler saying anything like that in my struggle. And actually in private he saw Islam as a better religion for Germans but he understood that Roman Catholicism and Protestantism were the dominant religious sects. That is why basically all german soldiers both ss wermacht etc had crosses on their graves.

And actually it was himmler who pushed the whole Aryan mythology and occultism specifically for SS members. The wermacht did not experience the same occult type ceremonies. They mostly had a few ancient Norse/Germanic runes as symbols for divisions. The SS was immersed in occultism though and this mainly stems from movements like the Thule society considered to be for top intellectuals and thinkers all over europe. Some esoteric groups like hermetic order of the golden dawn and the different rosicrucian sects still exist.

Hitler was no model Christian by any stretch of the imagination. He did however say 'As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I do have a duty to be a fighter for truth and jusstice.'

You can not possibly know how brutal the Nazis were

You're right I don't know how brutal the Nazis were nor does any member of this forum. I'm assuming you don't either unless you're a ww2 survivor which I'm willing to bet you aren't either. Therefore I recommend you ask ww2 survivors - especially polish ones as it was the only country that was simultaneously invaded by the Soviets and the Nazis and occupied by both for years - decades with the soviets you wish to find out who was worse.

While I personally haven't witnessed ww2 I have family members who have and have spoke to numerous poles who also survived ww2. And all of them unanimously say that the treatment they received as non combatants from the Soviets was far, far worse than from the Nazis. If they were polish Jews though I'm sure it would've been the opposite. So ask some ww2 survivors from Poland especially and also Ukraine, Hungary, the Baltics, Czechy etc what they think. Books, media reports and stories by people like elie wiesel who have been exposed as frauds all have a degree a bias. Most books documentaries etc about ww2 and the holocaust totally gloss ocer the fact that jews collaborated with nazis and were hired as police in ghettos and helped nazis loot stuff - kind of like the teenaged george soros. So will the ww2 survivors should you talk to them. However when one polish ww2 survivor after the other after the other all independently say the Soviets were far worse than the Nazis there is a degree of truth to that.

Work / New Job at Warsaw International School as an English teacher - Advice? What should I expect? [26]

albeit the pay probably won't be that terrific in contrast with the States, particularly Germany for instance, doing the same job.

The pay wont even be considered decent by polish standards for a new comer. The only teachers that make somewhat decent money by pl standards are those who have a big network and started like a decade ago and got in early. And even then many tutor on the side to make ends meet. It's nearly impossible to make 10k zloty plus a month which is basically the starting level for 'decent' pay by pl standards as an English teacher especially one just getting in. Maybe those who have a contract with some corps and have a good network but majority of English teachers in Poland make at or below the national average.

Even uni professors don't make ****. I have an aunt and uncle that are both PhDs and both taught for a long time, the wife still teaches. Their german colleagues who are professors make more in a week than the polish professor makes in a month.

It's gotta be a passion - not a job or career for the money. Kind of like the doctors and nurses working at polish hospitals. Overworked and underpaid.

Life / What's the immigration status in Poland? [12]

Conclusion;

I am sorry that the Netherlands has been cucked and become a victim of multiculturalism. I did a study abroad summer program at the University of Maastricht and have been to Amsterdam a few times. My cousins live in Dortmund and we'd often take a trip up to Amsterdam for the weekend. Back then there were very few Muslims and it was almost all white Europeans and tourists from the western world.

Unfortunately there is little that you can do about the Muslim migrant problem in Netherlands. As I am sure you already know since you are a teacher, these people multiply like rabbits on ecstasy.

I'd just hate to see another country lose it's identity, merely because of immigration.

Poles are very much against non European migration. The main stats bureau in Poland concluded that 3/4 poles do not want migrants from middle East and Africa. However Poland is welcoming to migrants from other.places. there's a ton of Ukrainians which is by far the largest group and then Georgians, Chechens, belrussians and increasingly Indians Pakistanis Koreans and chinese. There's a lot of Europeans from Italy Portugal and now even the UK and France coming to Poland as they escape the giant no go zone that their countries have become.

You'll never see sharia courts or generations of families living off the benefits with a tax payer funded apartment for them and their soccer team of kids. Poles simply won't allow it. We have a saying that goes nasz kraj nasze zasady which means our country, our rules. Poles are hard working people and they will not reward people with 1500 eu a head like germany does for illegally crossing borders and groping women. We won't allow that b.s. in Poland you habe to work if you want things like am apartment, clothes, food, etc. There are no handouts here. Rapefugees would only get around 80 euro a month so they don't want to come to Poland as they'd have to actually work. That's why they go mainly for.germany where the socialists use native german taxpayers money to support their lazy asses in exchange for future votes. Even the leftists will.never do that. In fact, even over half of the leftist party po supporters do not support me and african migration (with pis it's closer to 90%).

Poles have seen whay the migrants have done to germany UK France and even Holland. Your country should follow the Danish or Austrian model and cut the benefits payments. Then they will.scatter like cockroaches when the lights are turned on. As soon as the government's of those countries cut the benefits payments the migrants immediately left for places where they can continue to be supported by the european taxpayers.

Our government has said there is nothing worse that the eu can do than have us take in a flood of Muslims and africans. And this statement was lime 2 3 years ago - well before numerous other countries voted in anti migrant nationalist parties who stand up for native Europeans. Now there are more and more people getting fed up with the no go zones. Terrorism, rapes, crime, the mosques and prayers being broadcast in the street (as in France to purposely **** off the native French ) amd i hope that Holland soon joins this group. Unfortunately I think it will he too late due to their ridiculously high birth rates.

Poland and the v4 will be one of the last bastions of white Christian europe. And you'll see that in the coming 10 20.30 years more and more people from France UK germany etc will start moving to Poland to escape the migrants as they take over their country slowly but surely. They're already now forming parties that promote sharia and radical Islam or at least have relationships with radicals like sadiq Khan does. And that's when Europeans will really have to worry because once Muslims occupy more and more positions in parliaments and even become pms chancellors etc it's over for the conservative Christians Europeans who do not want to become minority 2nd class citizens in their own country. Sadly that is the trajectory for many countries but I am so thankful everyday that Poland is not among them.

W Europeans called us dumb Polaks, backwards, stupid but who's laughing Now? Now the conservatives are applauding Poland for standing up for themselves and not be coming victims to the eus forced multiculturalism. Thanks to our backwards xenophobia we haven't had a single terror attack... not one! Oh and of course zero no go zones, no thousands of women groped and raped and no tens of billions spent paying for migrants laziness so they can keep popping out kids pray 5 times a day and smoke hookah all day long.

Trump indeed said during the NATO trip that Europe is destroying itself and ruining it's culture. It is literally sacrificing itself at the altar of PC and bowing down to migrant invaders. It is sad because I've been to all these countries that are now totally cucked and invaded. Atlesdt I have memories of how it use to be before Merkel invited every able bodied male from 2 continents to be sugar babies for the European taxpayer. Oh well we can only wait and see where this all leads. But atleast I can rest assured Poland will remain polish and will remain for poles.

History / Do Polish people in general dislike Russia or Germany more? [369]

Yes Slavs were deemed untermenschen. Poland and later Russia were to be living space.

However Hitler was not an officer on the front lines in Sep 1939. He was a bureaucrat and the dude in charge. Like any politician, the things he campaigned on, the things he wanted to happen thT he wrote in my struggle, etc and the orders he later ended up giving and the reality on the ground were two different things.

Now aside from the formal order from Stalin to liquidate the entire officer corps and other undesirables, he never called for poles to be slaves for the Soviets not did he want to exterminate 80% of poles. Yet despite never issuing such orders, the reality on the ground was that Russians were raping any polish and german woman in sight - including old grannies and children and stealing and killing anyone they felt like. And this same **** for decades after. Stalin gave a very general order to liquidate 'land owners, priests, intelligentsia, officers, etc basically anyone who he believed would resist the Soviet rule. Hitler on the other hand despite writing about such things he did not give any orders to kill 80% of poles. The poles that did end up in concentration camps were mainly combatants and those who fought or even nonviolently resisted Nazi rule. The average polish person living in the country side or city could live under Nazi occupation and not end up in a camp provided they weren't involved with the AK, jews, etc. We're there collective punishments, family members killed, peoples homes destroyed, etc yes absolutely. However if you were a polish Christian and you simply went about your day without getting involved in fighting Nazis or saving Jews you'd likely have no issues from the Nazis. That is not the same as Stalin where you could get sent to Siberia or shot on the spot for any reason or no reason at all. If your farmland was a few meters to big you could get killed or sent to a gulag. Your livestock would be stolen, the women in your family all raped, your family deported thousands of kilometers away. The Soviets had a huge beef with Poland ever since they were humiliated in Warsaw during the inner war years.

Again, one should simply ask polish ww2 survivors who was worse - Nazis or Soviets since they experienced if first hand. Here were just speculating

Oh yea well that I totally agree with. Nonetheless though much of the ownership in wig30 companies is foreign especially german

IPO

Many ipos are hype only to have a huge correction soon after, although not nearly as bad as ICOs. Now if you have shares in a company that's going public and sell it soon after you'll make a ton of money, even if it turns out that company was way overvalued.

on the other hand more and more companies are willing to get out as the cost and the risk of remaining grows.

I agree with a lot of what you wrote except that as stats show otherwise. Fdi continues to flow in, gdp is growing like crazy for a small developed (according to oecd) country, unemployment is at record lows, salaries are increasing, etc. It seems like every week there's news that a foreign company is building an office, factory or some other ppe addition to their balance sheets.

In 2017, investments into Poland continued to climb, with a 23.16% increase from the previous year. Equally, jobs creation and capital expenditure into Poland experienced a considerable growth between 2016 and 2017, with an incline of 52.08% and 48.03% respectively.

Kombinowanie could be as simple as being a cheapskate not reciprocating a lunch with a coworker or it can be something as serious as crooked real estate agents and title companies ripping a foreign investor of his or her entire property.

Americans and much of western Europe do the same thing, but they do It through bureaucracy and whatever bogus things their lawyer put into a contract or specific words which imply a legal contract when over the phone. End result is basically the same - rip off the suckers and unknknowledgeable.

From what I have seen on the ground I would never invest my or shareholders money in Poland,

It's a risky proposition I don't blame you. Even now long after the amber gold scandal poles have been afraid of investing into the pl market. But the big swinging dicks running billion dollar companies do find Poland as a great place to invest but mainly just for cheaper labor that's just as skilled as those to the west for half of the cost.

Cheat until caught then look for mercy.

Poles don't cheat, they 'kombinuja' which is more like contriving or hustling

It's a leftover from the prl and taught to the youth to make wealthier westerners or ignorant/naive people part with their money whether it's uks benefit system, uninformed people remodeling their house or flipping cars houses maxinizing the usefulness or whatever else to make money. Poles on average have a better existence than the average person in the us, UK etc. Poles work hard and they hustle that's why you have so many poles who came with a few bucks in.their pocket and today they're driving around in a 70k bmw looking for their next mcmansion

History / Do Polish people in general dislike Russia or Germany more? [369]

This figure I quote is from the History channel so I presume it is correct.

The channel that has such shows as 'Hunting Bigfoot' and regalurly has a pro-western/pro-Zionist/Israel spin??? nawww.... Nat Geo (shoutout to my buddy Elliot on Deadliest Catch btw) is way more

They planned to kill about 80 percent of the slavs and use the rest as slaves that is according to the history channel.

They also planned to deport all the Jews to Madagascar.... What sopme Nazis thought of and wrote in some documents and books and what happened in reality aare two different things.... at the end of the day you ask a hundred, a thousand whatever Polish WW2 survivors and I guarantee you at least 90% (if not closer to 100%) will tell you that treatment under the Soviets was far, far worse than the Nazis. Yes, there were Poles who suffered worse under the Nazis than Soviets (especially Polish Jews as the Polish Jews were extremely quick to ally with the Red Army and persecute Polish Christians ) but OVERALL Poles were tyreated far better by Nazis than Soviets. To this day Poles laugh at the so called liberation of Warsaw and will never trust western Europe again to come to their aid in any military sense due to TWO betrayals especially by UK. The Soviets even tried to blame Katyn on the Nazis.... quite frankly for the average Polish non combatant who wasn't involved with helping Jews or like guerilla attacks against Nazi/Wermacht then they pretty much left you alone. They even gave food to villagers, did not steal all their **** like the Russians did (even cows and pigs were sent as 'reparations' and 'payment' for 'liberation'... not to mention entire factories and hundreds of thousands of people sent eastward for decades incuding my own family who didn't make it back till the Khrushchev/Brezhnev years).;.. plus an SS officer saved an uincle from an UPA dude who had him standing right in front of a tree - couple seconds later and I would've never met the dude or seen him besides photos...

which political parties are for/against immigration in Poland and to what degree.

No political party flat out supports immigration esp from me and Africa because the vast majority of polish citizens are against it. Po agreed to take in a few thousand 'refugees' because they were playing eus ***** with tusk as.merkels lapdog. That was one of the big reason why they did so poorly in the electiond and still poles dont trust them. With Ukrainians and other skilled labor and educated, wealthy immigrants esp from China Korea and esp India are coming in and find they are welcomed. A lot of Georgians belrussiand Russians Chechens come in too. Now even w European professionals from places like Italy Portugal even a lot of poles coming back from us and uk. But by far the vast majority are Ukrainian. Pl took in prolly 2 mil migrants since 2015 and no problems with Terror no go zones massive rapes etc.

Those migrants are accepted generally but many poles esp those further to the right don't like them though and feel too many cane at once. Some poles look to Ukrainians as 2nd clad and also don't trust them due to brutal massacres during ww2.

Merkel FINALLY realized that just a few weeks ago - and it almost cost her entire coalition falling apart...

Notice the progression though - first they were 'refugees,' people fleeing wars in Syria and Iraq.... then people realized that a tiny fraction of these 'refugees' are actually from countries where an asylum request is valid - namely Syria, Iraq and to an extent Eritrea if we're being generous... and even then the vast majority are young military age males. Look at any picture from the migrant crisis and it's a total sausage fest. There's hardly any chicks coming with them. Anyway, even during this time once people realized they are economic migrants, Merkel said that 'Islam belongs to Germany' and said that these newcomes are 'culturally enriching us.' Well, a few terror attacks and thousands upon thousands of rape cases, now they've become a 'burden' and Merkel and other Marxists insist that other countries 'share the burden.'

When even the most pro-immigration leader in the EU calls these migrants a 'burden' and that EU nations should show solidarity by 'sharing in the burden' it just proves how the vast majority of these economic migrants are definitely not contributing to the society - not financially, not culturally, nothing....

It's quite pathetic how many of these young guys left Syria instead of fighting for their country. I mean freakin' WOMEN picked up the fight - namely the YPG divisions... its pathetic... all the dudes left so now the leftover young women are the ones murkin' isis goat *******....

Also, don't forget the ferocity with which the leftists denied and denied that no go zones exist - including several on here. They refused to acknowledge they exist - despite countless outlets, stories, reports, videos etc and there mere fact that the french call these areas SEZ's showing that no go's DO exist. BUT then merkel came along and finally said that yes, no go's do exist...

I guess it depends on which Polish voters out there you talk to!

Of course. Nonetheless the polish voters chose pis. What is extremely annoying is how so many people - especially the EU and EP - only respect democracy when it's THEIR party or candidate that was elected. But when a party they don't like is elected suddenly democracy is under threat, merely because the citizenry voted in a euroskeptic party that doesn't have the eus stamp of approval. It's like that in Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Czechy and noe it's spread to Italy and Austria. The socialists in the eu are losing ground more and more.

@Lyzko

Actually I prefer to examine and try to understand both sides of the argument. But nyt is little more than a propaganda piece. They proved that during the election with their complete lack of objectivity. And there's many outlets with a right wing bias who write reports or stories or whatever that I don't agree with or know are factually incorrect.

Whenever someone or an outlet says that democracy is somehow under threat in Poland I stop listening because they're clueless about the reality in Poland. More often than not the people writing such articles aren't even polish, let alone polish citizens.

And besides, polish voters elected pis based on campaign promises which they are enacting. What pis is doing with stuffing courts, altering media to fit it's party line is no different than when po was in charge. In fact, p.o. was far more corrupt as revealed by numerous recordings and property deals worth millions which are now being exposed. Where was nyt the eu and all the other leftists decrying their actions back then? Oh that's right they were silent because the left won't call out it's own.

which nearly destroyed Poland

Do you seriously believe this? Yeah Kaczynski singlehandedly almost turned Poland into a failed state... good one...

Polish voters chose pis for a reason. If you respect democracy you'll respect the votes of polish voters. Seems though people only respect democracy when the citizens vote a party they like

spending the cash on camps for the 1 million migrants?

Last stat I read was germany spends over 20 billion on migrants. A few billion more than on education.

Everything in germany is slowly deteriorating... not just it's roads..

@Ironside
I look at it simply can I safely drive atleast 100 kmh.
, preferably 140 160 on the highway or 60 80 kmh on rural roads. In Poland that answer is almost always no, on german highways that answer is almost always yes. And i really dont see much improvement on the roads that I've travelled on since a kid. In most cases the roads outsidr of wroclaw are the same way they were 10 20 years ago. Yes there are some nee bridhes and new surfaces but overall I don't see much of an improvement. Perhaps it's different in Warsaw or other cities but I can only go off the roads I've travelled on before and after eu entry. I love driving but every time I drive around wroclaw or to the suburbs and towns around it is not an enjoyable experience. My blood pressure is always high and I'm just waiting to crash into some dog or tractor or some idiot who overtakes on corners. Driving to and from wroclaw and the towns around it is not a pleasant experience for me.

Again iron, for the tens of billions supposedly spent on roads I'm simply not seeing it. I'm not denying there's a few new highways and bridges like the one near prusice, but overall the roads are not much different than they were 15 20 years and still way worse than Germany's even 15 20 years ago. I cant think of a single road around wroclaw where i czn safely drive over 100 kmh. The roads i drive on to and from wroclaw and a few of the towns villages suburbs etc in the area are exactly the same as they were when I was a kid.

For all that money spent we should have autobahn type highways connecting every city. And no more 1 lane roads through villages whrte you have to avoid farm animals and tractors just to go fron wroclaw to a suburb 15 mins outside the city. Yet that's not the case

Work / 18000 zloty (before tax) salary enough to save to live normal life in Krakow with wife and a 1.5 yr old kid? [5]

That's a high salary and puts you in the upper middle class. Most poles make around 5k zloty in the major cities. So even with 3 people to support you'll still be able to save some cash.

You'll be able to pay bills, get a large condo/home, go on vacations, etc without any problem. You'll also have enough to buy certain luxuries like a nice car, a vacation home somewhere in Poland, Czechy, etc.

Id take the job if I were you. Although it's a smaller salary than say what UK, France germany etc would offer the costs of living especially real estate, food, etc are far lower.

News / Political life of Poland [135]

Poland didn't have anything even resembling an autobahn or highways 15 20 years ago and even today the system is imo worse than germany. I remember driving w some friends to the Berlin love parade doing 160 180 kmh on the highways as soon as we entered german territory. Smoothest highways ever - only those in Atlanta come close. Poland still has nothing comparable, atleast not around wroclaw. While just A few days before that i landed in Warsaw and decided this time id drive to wroclaw instead of flying. Well it was 5 6 hours of stop and go, wyprzedzanie, avoiding tractors dogs and drunk villagers on the road... thats what I get for taking the 'scenic' route and driving instead of taking the 1 hour prop plane which is also the same pos commie era plane they used when I was a kid...

For the tens of billions of eu spent on polish roads they're still not that great and many of them around wroclaw are still unfinished and just ad bad as they were when I was a kid. Ams even once theyre finished they still wont hold a candle to germanys system. When I go to prusice oborniki slaskie etc it's still the same bogus 1 lane tight road where you're playing don't crash into a tractor or farm animal the whole time.

Maybe in Warsaw it's different, but I'm sure as he'll not seeing much of the eu infrastructure in and around wroclaw...

Yeah because the NYT never writes with a total left wing bias....

Even if that were the truth, that's what the majority of polish voters desired. Since when is democracy a system of 'I know better than the majority of a country s citizens?' If Poland wants to follow an illiberal model that's up to polish voters to decide, not anyone else.

@Mr Grunwald

Indeed....

No Brussels is not the capital of Poland. PO suggests more integration with Brussels and abandoning our polish identity in our own land in exchange for being a star on the eu flag and submitting to a socialist leaders who modeled the eu constitution on the ussr and want to eliminate as much sovereignty as possible. PiS suggests maintaining a relationship with the eu and not leaving it, but as a sovereign nation making polish laws and standards take precedence over eu laws.

Many of these types of questions will be asked on the referendum coming up.

Poles don't want to leave the eu. But at the same time they don't want to give up their independence and sovereignty which they lost twice - 123 years during the partitions and for some 60 70 years after 1939. They're not just going to hand over hard won sovereignty to the eu just because they built us some highways and gyms.

The problem is that the current eurocrat leaders have no respect for independent states. They despise individual sovereignty amd those who express their indpendence, sovereignty and national identity. Thats why merkel wont even wave the German flag - a german flag, any eu nation flag is against her ideals. Eurocrats like verhofstadt, merkel, etc dream is for the eu to become one giant state, much like the ussr. And anything that opposes that vision or.doesnt support them theyre against. But when a country supports them they can.get away with anything.

Perfect examples are Spain, Poland Hungary etc. When catalonians wanted to hold a referendum they were violently supressed. The eu did nothing. Why? Because Spain and the eu have a good relationship. Now when a country like Poland or Hungary wants to have a referendum or democrstically votes in a euroskeptic party pm or whatever the eu suddenly attacks them, threatens them with sanctions etc. And actually Poland wants to change its courts to be similar to the Spanish model- but it's fine for eurocrat spain but when poland does it theyre threatened with sanctions. When p.o. fired reporters, stuffed courts, suppressed the opposition not a peep of condemnation from the eu since po supports the eu. Tusk even became merkels favorite lapdog. So of course p.o. wasn't criticized when they did much of the same exact stuff as pis- on top of.enriching themselves through various insider deals esp.related to real estate which is now being exposed.

No wonder British manufacturers wanted to leave the eu. Why anyone would want to follow a huge complicated manufacturing rules imposed by a capital in a foreign country is beyond me.

can easily be validated by reviewing the financials of the many builders and developers listed on the WSE

There is only one construction/real eztate company in the wig 30.

The stuff about towels and toothbrushes has already been exposed as a lie

Perhaps you've never heard of the European committee for standardization?
It is a FACT there are hundreds of rules for manufacturing the most simple items. Not to mention dozens of agencies that control such trade. Us has a lot of bureaucracy but eu is on a whole other level. And all it does is harm small businesses which are the drivers of economic growth and personal wealth.

A small mom and pop operatiom can't even sell legally homemade totally natural soap despite doing it for generations previously they made at their farm without spending a fortune on testing before they sell it... not ti mention dozens of other eu agencies they'd have to ensure they're in compliance with

I don't own any jap cars... And it matters little as I spend months at a time regularly in Poland and europe. I have far more knowledge of Poland than most people here. Most people here can't even speak polish so how are they somehow experts on polish society when they can't even communicate with Poles?

And actually the first car I ever drove was a fiat cinqiento on polish roads at like 13 or 14. I'm well aware of the state of polish roads and how they changed from the 90s to today. And today they're still garbage. Yes there's a few highways but still despite all that money there's little improvement for how much was spent. The roads in late 90s early 00s in even rural parts of germany are way better than today's polish roads despite tens of billions. Seems all the investments did is enrich western European firms who are more often than not allied with eurocrats.

it needs to be safe, long lasting, finished on time etc - i cant imagine that in Illinois you would be able to build a road either.

And it takes 400 pages to write that? There's several hundred rules when it comes to manufacturing even the most simple goods like a towel or toothbrush which only mskes it harder for small businesses to survive let alone thrive. And the eu knows that damn well. They write such rules after receiving funds from large corporations and businessmen who are able to bully small businesses and establish competitive monopolies

Actually in Illinois I type up a 1 to 3 page paper with a floor plan for jobs ranging from a few grand to a few hundred grand along with my license number in the header. Then if my bid is accepted we use the same paperwork to get the permit. It's very simple. Only thing that takes a long time is getting paid since they do their accounts payable quarterly.

Those who write from the comfort of Chicago of course have no idea what infrastructure was like before 2004.

Oh yes I do... hell i still habe my passport from the prl days as a soveneir. And the roads still suck although yes they are better than before. All those tens of billions and today's polish roads are still worse than Germany's were 15 years ago

My guess is that at least 50 percent if such works are performed by Poles, either as main contractor or subcontractor.

Well your guess is wrong is far less than half. Poles receive a fraction of the funds at the end of the day - most of the money from such projects goes back west. I'll give you an example - skanska, a Swedish company is doing much of the road, bridge and work related to the odra. The only polish firms involved are a few dump truck subs. It is not polish firms that are leading the projects, it is western European ones. The only time poles are involved is when it's too costly due to logistics or whatever to use a western sub.
