I mentioned greenlandic possible stupidity though....

Not selling your assets AND wanting independence from your lone supporter, who secures your survival, is not a viable political opinion with any future!

They need to have a master who pays for them....and/or re-start selling their ressources to pay for themselves, there is no other way, hence my dismissal.

The article points it out....since Greenland stopped extraction and selling of it's natural oil and gas reserves it nearly fully (to 95%) relies on support from Denmark to survive.

So yeah....either the Greenlanders are that stupid or they are that short sighted....they have to have a "master"....if they no longer want Denmark, they will have to chose someone else....they can't survive on their own like this.

Greenlandic politicians have since 2019 repeatedly said they are interested in strengthening cooperation and trade with the United States.....

I really don't see an USian invasion as in "hostile territory"....that just won't be necessary!

The thing seems to be that the few thousand Greenlanders want to become independent from Danmark, but without all that danish support they will need someone else to pay for them...they might want to join the US peacefully!

....While Greenlanders want independence, they are well aware of their economic reliance on Denmark. One option could be to form a so-called "free association" with the United States that would replace Danish subsidies with U.S. support and protection in return for military rights, similar to the status of Pacific island nations Marshall Islands, Micronesia and Palau.....

I don't see US troops invading Greenland....but alone the strategic position and the undoubtful rich natural resources, some of them very rare, make Greenland a valuable morsel....I personally see Trump just having set a big heap to show the interest of the US....nothing more, nothing less.

Definitely! Did they?

Trump has become two-times-president in big parts not despite but, IMHO, because of his loud personality....so, better get used to it and no worked up, moral panic everytime he utters something....or that will be long four years, very long!

Not to mention that alot of things the talks make alot sense....and should he really be able to end the war in Ukraine, well. That would be "a big finger" to all the smart, polite talking, academic **** who can only dream of stuff like this!
