You don't get to the Euro finals and only lose on penalties if you are a rubbish team!
You didn't see the big picture. England had an easy route to the final and played 6 out of 7 games at home with fans, almost like being the host country. In the group stages they had 1-0 wins over weak teams, and against the Scots (arguably the weakest side in the group) they couldn't score at all.
Next up they played Germany, who many people will tell you had the worst side for many decades. Hell, they almost never made it out of the group stage, it was a late goal and results in their favour elsewhere, that got them through.
England beat Ukraine fair and square, but again not a European Power house team. The Denmark game was embarrassing, and many people thought the Danes were robbed. An og and a controversial penalty got England through to the final. In the final, England ran out of steam, and Italy took them to penalties, where 3 overrated players couldn't score from 12 yards. A poor show indeed, but there have been many poor shows and disappointments in the past, so nothing new to see here.
I'll ask you again, what have they won in the last 50 years.
