An attempt to speak the local language is fraudulent if you are not fluent. The poor guy thinks you are good at it only to find out later that you missed half of what he said and that you were just winging it.
Now, name three people - first names, titles or occupations, locations, and the subjects - you had a chance to chat with while using your "aesthetically pleasing" manner of carrying on a conversation in a foreign country that does not speak your primary language.

Few things are more disgusting and offensive than deliberately talking over or under the other guy's level.
For aesthetically pleasing see William Buckley. Oops...he is dead. Then, try the Queen...Everywhere else, normal, everyday English will do fine. Or stay with yours.

Communication though can be either aesthetically pleasing or ugly and purposely offensive-:)

You are undermining your own point talking like this. Nobody says, "expatiated" and hopes to be understood by a minimum-wage girl serving lunch.

I am not clear why anyone would want to expel or harm my family since we are like the rest of Americans in every single aspect. We speak only English and have nothing that would suggest that my wife and I came from Poland.

I speak the local language so I am not sure how your post relates to my case.
There are two kinds of minorities: by conquest and through immigration. Jews in Poland were immigrants and had a moral obligation to become indistinguishable from those who invited them. I moved to the US to be like them, language and loyalty included, not to add to "the Polish-American community".

Discussions of violent crimes against children should never include those who are against the death penalty. At some point, the concept of forgiveness makes normal people literally sick. There should never be any and nothing in the life of the criminal should be used as mitigating factors. Especially the abuse he suffered as a kid.

Exactly what I have been saying..."Kochany" is a patronizing putdown or a warning. There is no other application for that stupid word. Even between the parent and the child. As in: Kochany, can you explain this? The kid knows instantly it means trouble.
