Life / Owning a house in true countryside of Poland - stories [692]

Fek!!! Yes!!!! At last. :):)

In the field, wild poppies can be rampant weed which comes from nowhere. If there are too many, you can be accused of growing them in order to produce Polish heroin. If not to produce, then for sale. I have to avoid such accusations and even slightest suspicion, that is why I remove them as first.

you must first make sure that they exist at all

We aren`t in philosophy class, learning about Berkeley`s subjective idealism etc. :):):) This is a simple thread about two nations who exist and have a problem with reconciliation.

No. That burning barszcz is a weed but not food.

Hint No 3: it is an ingredient in food often served during popular holidays in Poland like Christmas or Easter. But if you like it, you can eat it any day.

because they are us

That`s the Russian narrative which Ukrainians have been combating since.... no, not 2014. Since around 1918 when they took pains to create their own state independent of Poland or Soviet Russia.

And now you know perfectly well that Russians and Ukrainians will not be brothers again. Not at least for the next 50 years. How long did it take Poles and Germans to reconcile after WW2? Exactly 50 years plus.

Travel / What can Poland do to attract more tourists? Llamas farm? [71]

Polish beaches are always very crowded and quite chaotic

Coz you visit only beaches in popular resorts. But it is enough to walk 2-3 kilometres further and you will find an empty spot. That`s what we did when we travelled to the seaside.

People that are interested in Eastern Europe culturally, would probably rather go to Prague or Budapest

Cultural interests are huge minority among tourists. Most of them wants to have bathing opportunity during the day and dance or drinking entertainment at night.

relativity . He doesn't really know anything

You contradict yourself now. If I deal with relativity, I have to know what the theory of relativity consists in, don`t I?? Ha!! I got you now!

....or.....as Iron said so wisely, just let it go...for awhile at least!

No, we won`t fekking let it go .If Germans were able to apologise to Poles, now it is the Polish turn to apologise to Ukrainians.

wound has been closed by time and history abit more...

The wounds have been closed coz 70 years have passed. Morons troubled by amnesia and intent on playing the eternal tune of Polish victimhood are expecting Ukrainian apology for the years 1940s, disregarding everything which had happened in the East in 1000 -1939.

... a typical story. Ukrainians slaughtering a Polish multi-generational (as it used to be in the countryside) family

You are mentioning a slaughteri of Poles by Ukrainians in 20th century. But the same things were done by Poles to Ukrainians over centuries. The only difference is that Volhynia massacre is very well documented while Polish crimes from the past not so much.

Stop playing that sentimental tune coz it is false. Slaughter was on both sides and Poles, as a more mature and older nation than Ukrainians should apologise as first.

Simple.

I will write nothing more on the matter, for fear that my conversation

Don`t be silly.

because Polish bishops gave an example of such apology once.
and some people will never forgive them for that..

Yes, as I said, it was a shock, both for communists and their supporters, and normal Poles, believers and non believers.

An ethnic cleansing that was provoked by centuries of Polish oppression

Yes, it was genocide provoked by Polish colonisation and polonisation especially in the interwar period when Poles sent punitive expeditions to Ukrainian villages and beat peasants there and burnt their houses and Orthodox churches. . Banderites came to the conclusion that the only way to deal with Poles was to remove them from the area. Thousands were murdered, other thousands were allowed to flee.

Your resistance to reason in this discussion suggests you know very little about Polish Ukrainian relations. Stay tuned and learn in this thread.

that's why Poland should apologize to Ukrainians first?

Yes, because Polish bishops gave an example of such apology once.

Why is it "strange"? :)

Strange coz I know everything about the Polish Ukrainian relations and everybody involved. . :):):)

has vainly fought against the use of the term "Polish Concentration Camps" in ignorant Western press, and yet the term persists.

No, it doesn`t persist. Its usages have become much rarer than before. A few a year, instead of dozens a year. So, the Polish educational campaign wasn`t it vain.

I believe you didn`t know about it so I won`t accuse you of spreading Kremlin antiWestern propaganda again. You can go free, learning the lesson. :):):)

, under the title: "Visit Polish Concentration Camps".

This is already an important part of most itineraries in Poland. So, your idea is a bit late. :):)

What can Poland do to attract more tourists? Llamas farm?

No need to do anything. Or yes, one thing - develop the tourist facilities even more. The global warming and climate change will do the job, bringing tourists to Poland. Within a few years, traditional summer destinations in southern Europe will become unbearable for tourists from moderate climate areas. Poland will be hot in summer but not as hot as Greece or Italy or Spain. Currently, all these countries are troubled with extreme heat waves plus mass forest fires in the Greek island of Rhodos. In the future it will be even worse.

Can I recommend golden beaches at the Polish seaside?

"Zabka Mala Ednul*"

it is simple - ednu is jedna which means one. One nice little froggie you are.

was a polish man but never taught us kids how to speak or understand the language

That`s a shame. Some fathers have a wrong approach.
Novi, I hope you weren`t like that.

As I already mentioned, Rusyn's call their language "Ruski Jazik"

The same term that Russians use for their language. Too many coincidental samenesses, sort of, :_):) that is why I said I don`t believe you. :):):)

it is strange that to the west of Ukraine there are a people called essentially "Russians",

Polish Rusyns aren`t called or don`t call themselves Russians. They are Lemko people. Stop this bs.

History / Poles should apologise to Ukrainians first [487]

a new power grew in the East - the Duchy of Lithuania!!!

Lithuanians also tried to expand into Polish lands and Poles had a big problem with it.coz settlements near the border were regularly raided by Lithuanian warriors. Poles had a clever idea of pacifying that belligerent tribe by making an alliance with them.

The alliance commenced when a Lithuanian Prince was invited by Polish elites to become the king of Poland. I am talking about Vladislav Jagiełło, one of the greatest kings of Poland. Yes, he was Lithuanian but thought and acted like a Pole. E.g, he led Polish-Lithuanian- Rus armies to the battle with the mortal enemy of Poland and Lithuania - the Teutonic Knights. The battle at Grunwald 1410 put an end to Teutonic Knights` dreams of conquering the East and allowed both Poland and Lithuania to prosper as the Polish Lithuanian Commonweatlh for the next two centuries.

For a few centuries, Poland stopped expanding due to internal problems when the state was divided into smaller duchies which competed with each other. It lasted for about 200 years. In this time, a new power grew in the East - the Duchy of Lithuania!!! Over decades, it conquered amazing amounts of land in the east, including nearly all Rus with Kyiv. The size of today`s France, Spain and Germany counted together.

Check their conquests

Rusyns are largely pro-Russian, and anti-Ukrainian. Go figure.

I don`t believe you. You are still spreading putinist propaganda, like before. Did you learn it from your Ukrainian acquaintance? One swallow doesn`t make the summer so don`t talk about all most Rusyns.

There are about 1.7 million Rusyns in all Slavic countries, not only in Ukraine. Polish Rusyns are pro Ukrainian, not pro Russian.

History / Poles should apologise to Russians first [14]

Poles are demanding that Russians should apologise for their genocidal crimes on the Polish nation in the interwar period (Polish Operation of the NKVD 1937-38)

Now you are closer to truth although it is not a popular public demand. I would call it an expectation for an apology which most of Poles know will never take place or will but not within our lifetime, until Russians get civilised which is going to take a long time. .

Watch this space. :)

You are drunk or drugged. :):):) I don`t know about Ireland, but in Poland possessing larger quantities of drugs might bring you into serious problems with the law so you watch out. hahahaha
