History / Poles should apologise to Ukrainians first [487]

Musings about something from 700 years ago

Yes, it must be unnerving for you to learn that not all Polish lands were Polish from the very beginning. Sorry, fascist, this is history. Live with it. Ha!!!

those are old polish territories I often talked about.

Yes, and you demanded that Lviv and neighbourhoods must return to Poland. Be gone, fascist, with this thinking.

Why you post it..?

For the love of history of Poland. Ha! And I won`t stop even if all Polish fascists gang up on me.

Poland didn`t have to strive extensively to capture its colonies -

In the 14th century Poland made a little effort under Casimir the Great - one of the greatest Polish kings. Colluding with the Ruthenian ruler, Jarosław, the Pollsh king annexed western Rus territories including Lviv as their capital. The territory remained Polish till 1772, the first partition of Poland.

Here is the map which shows today`s Poland and old Red Ruthenia. You can see these borders intertwine.

Love / I am going to poland to meet my boyfriend's family and friends and need some advice [8]

Is it ok to greet his family and friends with a kiss on a cheek the first time?

It depends what kind of people you will be dealing with. You can kiss them if you see broad smiles, warm welcoming gestures and generally the atmosphere will be very friendly from a start. But most Poles aren`t so exuberant meeting strangers.

Could be anything.

Nope. I mentioned veg harvest. It means that one of the objects which produce the hollow sound is veg. What kind and what does it hit?

Another one is sugar cane in Poland,

I saw it only once a few years ago here. .I had tried it in the US but wasn`t fascinated. No tradition for it in Poland.

By the way speaking English doesn't make one an Englishman, there Yankees, Scots

Yes. exactly, and they all belong to the Western world and think and act like Westerners. Partly through the language.

Poland, occupying the crossroads of Europe, was such Western world for those Easterners. Through using the :Polish language and adopting Polish culture, among others RC religion, , Rus and Lithuanian elites slowly became Polish.

allowed both Poland and Lithuania to prosper as the Polish Lithuanian Commonweatlh for the next two centuries.

Or even three.....
Let`s continue. Why did I eleborate on the Duchy of Lithuania in posts 33 and 34 so much? It was important coz after stamping the alliance, Lithuanian and Rus elites in conquered territories started adopting Polish culture and language coz it was

1 essential to make a career in the Polish Lithuanian state
2 it was trendy in the East at the time.

What did it all lead to? Poland didn`t have to strive extensively to capture its colonies - it acquired conquered territories of Rus through the agency of Lithuanian warriors, sort of. It was the time when first Polish settlers started colonising the East.

Food / BREAD IN POLAND IS DETERIORATING [90]

Coming back to topic. Polish bread isn`t deteriorating - you can still buy bread which tastes like in old times. The problem is that all of a sudden your shop/baker`s which sold your fave kind of bread closes or stops making/selling it and you have to look around again and find a new shop which again closes or whatever after a year and the game starts anew.

Off-Topic / Let's talk about shoes [339]

Alien, 2 years since you started the thread, it is high time I contribute. to it. I never buy shoes in shoe shop/boutiques , only in big shopping centres. They must be comfortable and cheap. After time it shows if they are also durable. If they fulfill all three conditions I mentioned, I go back to that centre and try to buy more pairs of the same line if they are still available. This saves me time coz wearing them out lasts two, three years. Time is money, remember.

To avoid making a thread about jeans/pants, I apply the same style of shopping for trousers.

Where are Poles and Slavs in it ?

Mr Twardowski from Poland, who sold his soul to the devil, colonised the moon long ago and is still staying there.

See a film about him - you can choose English subs in settings

Is "Chernenko" not enough for you?

Sources say nothing about him being Ukrainian. I asked you to prove. Stop twisting and wriggling out. :):):)]

What Russian, or Belarusian has a name ending in "-Ko"?

Plenty surnames ending with -ko in Russia. As well as -ski. Still ,they are pure Russians. :):):)

I am a Pan-Slavist.

To Poles who know history - Russian Pan-Slavism is just a nice term for their inborn imperialism. Poles should stay away as much as possible from it because it is extremely dangerous. Vide: Russian Panslavism in action in Ukraine right now.

We remember well how you were Napoleon's torpedo,

Why blaming Poles? Blame Napoleon and the French.

you and the Ukrainians butchered each other in the 20s.

But Poles only defended what they considered Poland: Lviv and the area. Such was the thinking then. Again you missed.

crushing the Hungarians

Crushing what Hungarians???? You missed.

Three misses in one post. Not bad. hahahaha
