Life / Scars of Communism on Polish culture. [55]

No, not at all. I was asking you an honest question. Don't you think that society itself is to be blamed for the scars to be carried over to the next generation? Grandparents teaching their grandkids how bad the Russians and Germans are, and the kids continue this prejudice (in modern times) when they grow up kind of thing. Vicious circle. Sometimes I think that all Europeans could use a little bit of the American "get over it and move on" attitude.

And then tell me in detail how that affected your society.

What about the young Poles who were born after 1989? Are they still "scarred" by WW2 and the communist era? What about their children? Are they also "scarred" because of what their grandparents and great grandparents had to go through? How long do you think this will continue?

Life / Why is circumcision not practiced in Poland? [701]

That is not the topic of this thread. Don't make it to be closed for cleaning.

With that link I was merely suggesting that the reason why American ladies presumably don't like uncircumcized men might not be a question of what is better - circumcized or uncut - but a question of where a man comes from and how rich he is. On topic. ;)

PS:
I know that you guys don't like us straying too much off topic, but this is a forum after all and people visit here to chat. You can't always stay on topic within a thread because the discussion takes different turns all the time.

Read the forum rules.

US women don't like uncut men? Seems that US men don't like their local chicks anymore... :)

boycottamericanwomen.blogspot.com

Quite a few losers posting there, but still some very funny remarks on that blog (don't miss the 'Older Posts' at the bottom of the page).

You cant tell and asthetically they dont look that different when hard...

Yes, that is the answer I was talking about... :)

partially because this is about circumcision and we pretty much do it to everyone here

Ain't true anymore, it seems:

Funny discussion. Just close your eyes (or turn off the lights, if you want) and then tell me if a woman is able to feel the difference between a circumcized and an uncut dick. I know the answer...

Prior to Polands defeat your ancestors did live in What was called POLAND until the third Partition and so all we need now is a area Map showing which Partitions were no longer considered Poland

It depends at what time Poland lost territory and wether your ancestors lived in that area or not. Polish lands that came to Prussia after the first partition for example cannot be counted as Poland anymore. Territory that was annexed by Russia after the second partition was not part of Poland anymore from that moment on. The where and when is important.

News / Coal-Powered Poland Refuses to "Go Green". EU Ain't Happy. [304]

Who is supposed to pay for all this green crap?

I would rather ask, who is going to pay if nobody cares about all this green crap, as you say? And I'm not talking about climate change alone. What about pollution, countless species going extinct every year, overfishing our oceans - the list is seemingly endless. I tell you who will pay in the end: our children.

Misinterpretation of history, bending facts, or wishful thinking has no place in genealogy. If you start doing that you will never understand the political and social environment of the time.

Most immigration documents for example list the country of origin, not the ethnicity, so yes - nationality is important.

Genealogy / Any information about Dziedzic Surname? [35]

Poland didn't exist in 1910, so your ancestors came either from the German Empire, Russia or Austria-Hungary. You might want to take a look at the Ellis Island web site at ellisisland.org, where you can check the ship manifests of the vessels that brought immigrants to New York.

News / Communist era 'newspeak' appeals the most to Poland PiS supporters (what a surprise) [89]

something like have the population of the DDR were informers and the other half worked for the Stasi or some other ridiculous statistic that I cannot be bothered to look up

Sure, and that was the reason why they built the Berlin Wall and the deadly fortifications along the border to West Germany. To keep the fanatic communists in the country. Yeah, right...

News / Polish People STILL denied US Entry [96]

Fair enough. I'm just a little bit worried that "support" by the Heritage Foundation will be to the disadvantage of Poland rather than to the advantage.

Couldn't you find a better source? Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity - two of the biggest nutjobs in America - are amongst the members of the dubious Heritage Foundation.

And I'm sure the immigrants themselves didn't care much what the form said.

I believe they were just happy to have finally arrived at their destination. National pride was for sure secondary at that moment, although most immigrants kept their traditions.

News / Polish People STILL denied US Entry [96]

thought to be German by whom? the Americans?

The authorities at the US port of entry usually recorded the country of birth/ nationality. Since Poland didn't exist at that time, ethnic Poles entered the country as German nationals (or Russian or Austrian for that matter).

Example of a ship manifest:

Many immigrants in the 19th century thought to be German were actually Polish.

Those immigrants were German nationals of Polish ethnicity.

News / US to deploy Patriot missiles to Poland [405]

As Natasa and Crow already said: Gavrilo Princip was the trigger for WW1. Is that something to be proud of? Some here seem to think, yes. But we're getting off-topic now, so let's leave it at that before we get binned.

EDIT: sorry, Mod, I posted this before I saw your comment.

Crow: Austro-Hungaria issued ultimatum to Serbia and attacked us then

Remind me why they did it...

In post #372, you seemed to be quite proud that a Serb shot the archduke and his wife:

Crow: We Serbs always provided best orgies...

Crow: We Serbs always provided best orgies. Last time, poor archduke didn`t know what happened to him.

Causing a world war with millions of dead. Something to be proud of, really...

If it isn't crystal clear by now, I hate classifications.

If it isn't clear by now, I was kidding... :)

PS: What's so bad about being eastern European anyway?
