He does have freedom of speech and I don't think he was being inflammatory. The accuracy of his statements is up to others to verify.

Same goes for me as I have the very same right to voice my opinion.
I my opinion if someone is ashamed of what or who he/she is should change it!

But it's a generalisation that has much practical evidence to support it, Ironside. Poles can be very touchy and that's just an observation, not a criticism.

Well, they can but I think that goes for many people. I think that is about respect if you can convey a healthy dose of respect then you can make an critical observation without being offensive to anyone.

Now I am generally ashamed to be Polish, the only good thing about being polish is having a EU passport. The more time i spent around polish people, I realized that they are by far the most negative and backward thinking group of people I have ever met.

That what made me kind of angry at you if you are Polish as you claim.
Don't like being Polish move on and don't come back!

Its a trait well established in the USA history and profit is GOD for many.

Through out history they have been whiners, it is probable because of that history they became that way, which is OK, but I mean after, now what 60+ years after the war, people are still crying about something.

he position of Poland being the only country that suffered during WW2, the only country who's citizens risked their lives for helping Jews

No, point is that contrary to nowadays western media gospel, Poles actually made an enormous effort , sometimes organized, sometimes not, but always with enormous risk for themselves and their loved ones.

Secondly that circumstances in Poland under German occupation made this effort the most difficult - thingy you have a problem to understand.
I like to add that your biased view of Jews is the very myth which is begging to be busted.
Topic like Jewish police, Jewish Gestapo agents, not even brushing situation that saved Jew pointed their savers from Polish underground to Soviets.
Shouldn't be the myth that Jews were always the victims and if have done wrong their are justified by circumstances be the very focus of your attention, and your motives would be a less in doubt than your focusing on Poles and their deeds.

The only conclusion from your liberal ?! and "fair" ramifications is that nobody should be bothered to do a moral and good deed as it doesn't matter for a firm myths busters what you did but are you a right kind of person (or country ) to deserve credit.

If you are from Poland you should kill Jews, join German army and think about surviving and make some money because at the end you are just stupid peasant, reeking of dirt and vodka and you deserve no better.

Dutch resistance fighters were shot in jails

Where Germans is Holland killing civilians because of some plan and I mean killing everybody in village.
Point is that in Holland Germans were killing resistance people or individuals somehow connected to them ......hence in Poland civilians could be killed and were murdered by droves just because.

German attitude and practise as well as their legislation were entirely different in Poland than Holland, you guys have a big time problem to grasp it!

M-G is trying to show that in relative terms there were quite a lot of Dutch people who got themselves on the Yad Vashem-list.

If I was like you guys I would have said that it was because Dutch citizens reported others Dutch citizens en mass unlike Poland!

Its like with medals for soldiers, not everyone who did something "heroic" got a medal.
There are always circumstances like the fact that Dutch after war hadn't been encumbered by such a detail (seems like you do not understand implication of it ) - as Poland under soviet rule.

what you are about? Who deny bad sides? well, maybe same are not aware about Polish bad sides during the WWII but only because there were minor in no way comparable to really heroic deeds.

I mean Poles didn't have SS-division or government collaborating with Germans, action of individuals it minor and unimportant detail and you trying to make it big, I suppose for philosophical reason.

Why can't you? All occupied countries suffered. Some more than others, but bottomline is that everybody suffered. Learn to accept that.

contrary to your words I know that everybody suffered but it doesn't mean that everybody suffered the same .....
It shouldn't matter who suffered and to what degree but it does ......first of all Jews telling their stories, then other by making insolent and baseless allegation about conduct of Poles during the WWII

It does matter and you know it or you should know it ....and I'm not talking about feelings but about fact, you can check the way German treated Poles and Dutch, there are records ...and then but only then you can make comparisons,

Listen, certain things happened in certain way and there are documents ....you cannot discus facts, and the fact is that legislature of German occupants made the law for Poles and made the law for Dutch.

and the facts say that in Poland every person of the family which happened to give an aid to Jews were shot on the spot, no matter what kind of aid would be loaf or hiding place .....

In case of NL some people were killed but few for sole reason of giving an aid to Jews nor their families were summarily executed,

ome ppl here react exactly as expected when confronted that other countries did heroic things as well.

nope, I think academical question which is Poland in the eyes of the west will be even more devoid of meaning if Poland will not shake off bastards claiming to be Polish elite.

To be or not to be for Poland not as colony but independent entity is on stake and believe me Seanus western views on Poland are secondary issues. Which could be deal with in due time. Strong and successful state has many friends.

There is hidden conflict and people are confused because they don't understand what that conflict is about. I would say that is a conflict of civilizations and I don't mean term "civilization" in the light of Arnold Toynbee's.

I may add that material situation of general Polish population, doesn't encourage people to participate actively in politics.

That's the point I made loads of times: (some) Poles think they can discriminate galore in Poland and yet they complain when discriminated when abroad. What goes around, comes around I'd say.

Gentlemen's I would point out that Dutch as well as the British were emigrating in their drovers for hundreds of years, also they have kept the large chunk of the planet in their sway.

How does it compare to last five or four years when Poles started to move about on the serious scale?
Anyhow, its funny to talk about immigration within EU, according to propaganda its supposed to be one country.
It never case to amaze me as people from old EU country;s are ignorant in a ways of the EU policy.
Yet, they complain, now?!
Poland is open to foreigners from EU country's, from Vietnam and country's of former Soviet Union, sporadic voices on the very forum (they could be anyone) mean nothing.

I would say that reluctance in acceptance mass immigration of blacks is not to be scorned as long as policy is implemented by state rather than personal attitude of individuals.

In my opinion the real problem is omnipotence of state, so called nanny state.
Its sends a wrong signal to voters - in exchange for a vote they expect bread and entertainment!
