I think it was the beginning of the first world war when people were getting their kids the hell out of Europe and sending them to America

so they didn't get killed.
Over 7 million civilians died in that war.
You have to imagine for yourself these children from Poland (and other countries) coming to America frightened out of their heads,
not knowing how to speak the language. They were exploited for meaningless jobs, didn't know who to trust, where to go,
and didn't have any money.
It would be like me coming to Poland at ten years old, no family there, not speaking the Polish language with no money.
I would do what I had to to survive in a new culture and country.
I would fall under the term, dumb American by the insulting Poles.
One would think that is where the term dumb Polock came from.
From dumb insulting Americans.

Not anymore in America either jon.
Realize that was two generations ago.
That is the way it was back in the first half of the 1900's.
If someone called a Polish person a dumb Polock today that person would be used for a mop to mop up the street.
That term went out when white socks did.
It just doesn't happen anymore.

As did I.
I was young and it made me feel very inferior not knowing any better.
Then one evening as my father sat sipping his peeva he told be a true story about a local "dumb Polack".
The dumb Polock owned a little bar in town that catered to all the local alcoholics.
He and his wife worked their tails off and about lived every awakening hour there serving food and beer. (Very hard workers)
The patrons called the owners of this bar dumb Polocks to their faces only to get a small smile in return.
The dumb Polock let his patrons run a weekly tab. (how dumb)
He also encouraged them to bring in their wild caught fish, venison, mushrooms, ect. to his bar to cook for everyone, free of charge.
Made the patrons feel like big shots showing off their prize catches and sharing.
The bar owners wife cooked it all with lots of salt making the patrons thirsty for more beer.
She became all of their wives as she cooked, cleaned up their messes, listened to their filthy jokes and depressing self pity stories.
His patrons didn't even have to go home after work to their wives for dinner as the salty snacks and food was provided free.

They sat there drinking, eating, and running up their tabs until late in the evening.
Come friday the patrons all brought their paychecks into the bar to have them cashed to pay off their tabs and start over.
The dumb Polock quietly laughed all the way to the bank. (the dumbest fox in the forest)
That dumb Polock as he was called, is now a multi millionaire and owns the largest piece of property in my town.
He has set up all four of his children in businesses in town where many of the patrons children now work for.
Who was the dumb one ?

Very good point however I would say that goes for not just teachers but everyone in any country, not just Poland.


Because they haven't learned to comprehend that you can't boast, insult, pretend, or demand respect....... you have to "earn it".
All of the above only show a major inferiority complex.
To get respect you have to give respect while rudeness only breeds rudeness.
And Szalawa you hit the nail on the head, neither paper certificate, age, earnings, qualifications determine a good teacher or person.
I am older then any teacher posting on here and my monthly income most likely is twice plus, what all of their incomes are added together.

That does not make me superior nor do I pretend to be. Just making my point. As in Everybody is somebody.
The key words here (and you hit it) is "Earned Respect".

Exactly, you three stooges boast about your superiority because you hold a teaching certificate which is one of the easiest degrees
that there is to obtain. We have established that by the classes required to get one.

I have no idea what a BEd is so that is the reason I excluded it. Is this something you need to get a teaching degree on line ?

I guess different prerequisites required to teach in different countries.
Same with the requirements for a teaching degree, different from country to country.
I did find World rankings of Universities however and you will see that Duke ranks 30th.

advanced algebra, advanced physical sciences, advanced chemistry, advanced psychology, trigonometry, discriptive geometry,
caculus to get your teaching certificate ? You know, the classes that take a brain. My bet is "NOTTA", any of you.

At least the truth be known now how a teaching certificate ain't squat to obtain.

People who never attended college would never know that a teaching degree is the easiest degree there is to obtain, just one step above a liberal arts degree which is virtually useless. (Now I are one)

The courses required are all basic classes for a teaching degree. ie: basic reading, basic writing, basic arithmatic, ect.
There are no "advanced classes" like advanced algebra, advanced physical sciences, advanced chemistry, advanced psychology classes required for a teaching degree.
School teachers then get that little bit of authority over children and suddenly become geniuses lording over them.
This goes to their head and they eventully become odious to anyone besides themselves or other teachers.
ie: Know it all limp wristed obnoxious liberals that stick within their click because of their pretentious lives.
Maybe you have noticed this on this forum.
People that can do it do it and people who can't do it teach it.

Food / Polish polskie pierogi recipe (prepared at home) [74]

I found this very old recipe today that my Polish grandma used back in 1922. (Straight from the old country)
I have upgraded this recipe since, however I wanted to share this 90 year old one with you.
Very basic.

Pierogi:
4-5 potatoes - cook & mash - cool, mix in 2 eggs & 2 to 2 1/2 cups flour & 1/2 teas. salt
Shape into 2 or 3 balls, roll out on floured (1 ball at a time) cut into squares.
Drop into pot of boiling water, be sure water keeps boiling.
Water will become murky - don't panic.
Cook until they come to the top - couple of minutes.
Remove from water (dip out into colander) and rinse off with cool water
carefully so they don't fall apart.
Brown in frying pan in butter & cracker or bread crumbs.

She came to America when she was eight years old and didn't know one word of English.
By the time she was sixteen she could speak, read, and write perfect English as well as being
a master in arithmatic.
I remember her little smile with her devil blue eyes telling me to shut up and eat.

It is a culture thing Don Juan, you are out of your elimate.
Greek men totally bearded and dressed in black and picking up women to take back to their hermitages sitting around at taverns while the women in black wait on them and make cooing sounds doesn't entice Polish women.

Polish women like to rock with a little femanism and don't really get into Geek boys.
This may be why they have that look on their face, the GO AWAY LOOK once you open your mouth.
