Travel / Is it safe to ride motorcycles in Poland? Traffic laws. [12]

As above, we have hard winters in Poland, with lots of snow and ice. Temps in our area have been down to minus 10 in the day and minus 20 overnight for ten days, though it's now above zero again. Roads here are not especially well maintained, so there are lots of little potholes and such, making roads bumpy for the best of cars, never mind motorbikes. Generally, you must keep your wits about you - concentrate - as there are sudden reductions in the speed limit, poor drivers and left turns from what you might think is the "overtaking" lane.

But loads of people ride scooters and bikes, quads too.

News / Repopulating Poland with Ukrainians? [67]

In a time of unsustainable population, I am glad to see Poland taking a lead in the effort the world needs to make to get it's population under control. And, of course, not locking it's women into a perpetual cycle of pregnancy and child raising.

If poorer families need government support (note, NOT encouragement) then it should be limited to a maximum of two children - if the parents can afford to raise more, then they should be allowed to do so (if they can afford to raise them, they must by definition pay enough in taxes to pay for their healthcare and education), but they should not receive any state support. If they cannot afford more, then they need to stop.

Food / Goose meat anyone in Poland? [20]

Hmmm, I only bought duck once in my life, but years ago I used to do some work every month for a guy and he paid me in ducks he'd shot and prepared, and I'd either freeze them or use straight away. Pretty delicious. We have a pig in the freezer, but I'm game to try goose.

What would you suggest as a good way to prepare goose/receipe?
