UK, Ireland / Why Poles will never belong in England [327]

Neither do I believe all the dogmas

But your'e a normie and normies need religion, when they wander away from it they become nihilistic and fall prey to ideas they don't fully understand...

word you're looking for is feat

My white hot partisan rage sometimes gets the better of my spelling...

Working hard is for suckers. I prefer to delegate and supervise.

You'd have made a good overseer on a southern plantation, whipping others to work hard for no pay seems to be about your speed....

Muslims do certain things right before. Did I not praise them when they were throwing gays off roofs?

your political instincts are almost a perfect storm of wrong and stupid, that's quite a feet (though if you're emotional age is still 9.... mebbe not....)

your'e a good example also of the value of the catholic church in Poland... since you obviously have no connection to it or have forgotten anything they ever spoke about there....

History / History of two Neighbors: Poland - Germany Interrelations [283]

half of them don't want Brexit.

My theory: They're not pushing for a second referendum because they're afraid that Brexit would win again... (surely the negative rhetoric from Juncker and Tusk would be used in a second 'leave' campaign...)

History / History of two Neighbors: Poland - Germany Interrelations [283]

trends are showing that Germany will deepen the amount of integration with France,

Is there really any indication that a majority of citizens in either France or Germany want deepened integration?

My own idea is that it's more liable to produce nasty stuff like the current article 13 than anything of use (or a European Army to put down citizen insurrections).

Genealogy / The typical Polish look, or all Eastern Europeans [676]

well a forum member here hinted that JK had hit on him (or heavily implied as much)
IME with twins the percentage of one being gay is a lot higher than among the general population...

if he's not gay then what's his deal? asexual? special relationship with his cat? has he been shtupping pani Basia all these years?

Putin and especially kadyrov have the right idea with dealing with pedaly, although not quite as good as the fundamentalists.

Maybe JK should start an anti-gay purge.... staring with.....

Language / Game - guess Polish idioms/sayings in direct English translation [1756]

better is the enemy of good

Is this similar to '(the) perfect is the enemy of (the) good' where the idea is that trying to improve some things just makes them less effective (and/or waiting for something perfect can cause people to lose opportunities)

History / Cursed soldiers controvercy - not all Poles respect them [320]

you follow the PRL, I follow the legitimate Polish government in exile based in London .

how many Polish citizens agree with you I wonder.... most I've known (including those who involved in anti-communist resistance regarded the government in exile as a curiosity and not any kind of legitimate authority...

for sure I'll remember it now.

the Polish word is tapeciara... I was confused the first time I heard it and had to have it explained.

a hopeless situation when you don`t know what to do/say, especially when somebody astonishes you with their silly behaviour

Do you mean wallpaper? And "hanger"

Yes! In the US, AH was sometimes referred to as a "paper hanger" so, someone (not pawian who obviously knows) what does it mean to call a woman a "paper hanger"? (nb nothing to do with politics)

sheet metal lover about a woman, but mostly young one

I understand this (the word is 'blachara' )but AFAIK there's no equivalent in (American) English...

It refers to a young woman who wants a guy with a hot car and/or likes to pose for pictures with cars...

To lick one`s fingers

finger lickin' good! (original slogan of KFC when it was kentucky fried chicken and not a weird sandwich and milkshake place...) (assuming that's palce lizać)

To refuse to bend a finger

to not lift a finger?

"Did you fall from a Christmas tree"

An American version might be "Did you just fall off the turnip truck?" or more generally "Were you born yesterday?" (though both of those are usually used negatively "I didn't just fall off the turnip truck" or "I wasn't born yesterday".

What about "Mustard after dinner"?

Off-Topic / What's your connection with Poland? Penpals. [595]

I know nothing about this area

I was there a couple of days in the early 1990s, I imagine it's a lot different now. Nothing special, though the mountains nearby might be nice. While it's not usually considered part of the Okręg katowicki I took the train from there to Katowice and it was solid urban-industrial areas the whole way...

History / Poland - problem for Germany? (historically continual hostility of German state on Poland) [154]

I really don't think of AfD as being that far right (beyond their weird dysfunctionally crippled political spectrum of modern Germany)

As I have said (repeatedly) that changes in policy are necessary to prevent the real far right crazies from gaining power... give AfD a place at the table to prevent worse actors from knocking the table over later.
