News / The Political Circus of Poland [309]

Driving a lot around villages this weekend and see PiS candidates are even embarrassed to put PiS words or symbols on their posters - they are trying to deceive voters in an Udmurtian stylee LOL

Work / Applying for English speaking jobs in Lodz or Warsaw [13]

There will be English speaking jobs in call centers or shared service centers.

But they won't pay 2000 dollars. I would say 1500 is a maximum

You will need a work permit and that will not be straightforward

News / NATO expansion in northern Europe - great news for Poland [137]

Far from parasitic - rich Sweden has donated considerable amounts to Ukraine and pays its own way in NATO

It is giving access to 17 military bases to the US. That is one positive outcome of Udmurtia's illegal war

Love / Where to find Asian girls in Poland [13]

So weirdly enough after writing this I stopped for a coffee today - small place and there were only 2 other customers, 20 something Asian women :)

Love / Where to find Asian girls in Poland [13]

I would say Starbucks in city center or in malls - there often seem to be Asian girls in there. Try cafes around the medical school too.

No idea how you would approach them but presume there is a technique that works

News / Reactions in Poland to Alexei Navalny's death [128]

We have already discussed his motivations many times. He has sent a clear signal to the few decent citizens of Udmurtia that dissent can mean a nasty death - that is his "upside"

Genealogy / Polish and gypsy traditions [140]

I don't know but once was staying at a hotel in Cleveland, pretty nice one, and there was a gypsy wedding there and they seemed genuinely very wealthy - and not just in the way of Polish Gypsies

Work / Are Poles workaholics? [135]

One of the biggest problems I have with interns lately is them turning work in late.

They keep texting me (they never call which is irritating) and ask if they can deliver stuff after the weekend because they are sick, grandma is ill, have exams etc.

I now started telling them sure, they can deliver late and I will pay them late - it has been far more effective than moralizing.

Law / Rejecting Inheritance [44]

If you are in Poland that would be several years of legal hassle but you could get out of it by rejecting the inheritance

If you didn't do the paperwork then you won't go to jail of course, but it will affect your credit score etc.

Yes it is a dumb law and I suspect it will be on its way out. 30 years ago for most Poles there were no debts and no assets - now that has changed this dumb law is causing more and more difficulties

In Chicago or Udmurtia ? Who knows ? Or cares - this is a question about Poland

Law / Rejecting Inheritance [44]

Make a note of all the times you tried to call the consulate - maybe a call log on your cellphone

Go there and If it is closed take a photo

This can be used as evidence that you made a reasonable effort to follow the procedure.

News / How will Poland be affected by WW3 which has now started [559]

Nope - all nonsense

Everywhere west of Terespol you are free to publicly disagree with your freely elected leaders

In Udmurtia it can get you 25 years in Siberia

Restrictions on free speech in most EU countries are the subject of vigorous debate - usually they are there to prevent people like Crno causing fear to minorities. I'm a free speech absolutist myself but it's obviously nonsense to compare a backwards society like Udmurtia with advanced nations like Poland or Romania

News / How will Poland be affected by WW3 which has now started [559]

The ultimate proxy war was the Angola/Namibia thing in the 80s.

In one corner a dictator supported by South Africa who in turn were armed by the US and weirdly China

In the other commies supported by Cuba who were armed with Udmurtian junk but won a significant battle. Sadly there are still many destitute veterans of this limping around Cuba as their main tactic was human wave.

Law / Taxes and money, need some clarifications... [8]

You probably won't find anyone cheaper than 250 zloty in Warsaw. And below 300 they are unlikely to speak English

I pay 270 for mine, in the countryside - she doesn't speak English

News / Polish PM Tusk- dictator or not? What Poles think? [455]

Nonsense - it wasn't that bad before 2015 and like most people I turned off sometime in 2016

Certainly the astronomical salaries are something that started under PiS

Law / Taxes and money, need some clarifications... [8]

You only need to pay or declare tax on index funds when you sell them. It's 19 percent but if some has been deducted at source in Spain you can subtract that from your Polish tax

News / How strongly are Poles sure that president Duda defend Poland's interests ? [265]

But the PiSites have little public support, no money and aren't able to use taxpayers money to fund this idiocy. Once Duda sees that there are no votes in this kind of stunt he will pull back and see out his term opening obwody in small towns

This hunger strike will be over by Monday

Genealogy / Looking for old street name : Teuchertstrasse in Gliwice [24]

Niederwall could be ul Dolny Walow

Tarnow strasse could be Tarnogorska though pre war maps show this as Tarnowitzer Landstrasse - it is one of the main roads out of Gliwice - towards Tarnowskie Gory
