History / The reasons of Polish pride? [112]

Read about Witold Pilecki,

That guy is not just a Polish hero, he was a World hero.
Auschwitz was liberated 75 years ago today.

History / Tuchola in Poland - roots of Katyn? [220]

I donh't get why many Poles seem to often make a bigger deal about Katyn where 40,000 Poles died.

Do they make them any stupider then you ?
Putin's big lie.
In a series of comments in late December, Putin appeared to blame Poland for the outbreak of the Second World War.
The movie Katyn explains it.

News / Nuclear Power in Poland? Yes, please! Absolutely nobody disagrees! [73]

after they depleted

To what degree ?

let most active nuclides decay so rods can be transported.

"Most" is the key word here and transported to where as they are still very radioactive for hundreds of years.
To my understanding anyways.

News / Nuclear Power in Poland? Yes, please! Absolutely nobody disagrees! [73]

we need to have the debate about nuclear fuel in Poland

Poland has a golden opportunity to get the Żarnowiec Nuclear Power Plant up and running with funds now available from the E.U.

I am not sure there is any other way to produce the power Poland needs...but i do wish there was....!

For sure, you can't have it both ways.
My only concern is, "what do you do with the nuclear waste (spent radio active uranium rods) when they need to be disposed of."
Yes they periodically have to be changed out.
Where do you store them ? (Deep in the retired coal mines and cement them shut ?)
How many thousands of years before they are no longer dangerous to anything living ?
That is my only concern that is never talked about by the ice hockey politicians.

we need to have the debate about nuclear fuel in Poland but politically very difficult

That's because the Polish hate change for one and the other is that they like to have their ice cream and eat it too.

How do you generate that electricity?

Please explain this to the Millennials that claim electric cars are cleaner and more economical.

as Milo pointed out- that electricity comes from somewhere.

In Poland that would be from fossil fuels that pollute the environment.

The moment you will get the option to message me

Awe shucks, I was going to invite you to come visit me this summer so I could show you around my stomping grounds and then you could take me back to Poland and show me yours.

Guess I will just have to keep looking for some nice open minded Polish girl.

the best electric heating is when the wires are buried in the floor. 100% efficient and 100% silent.

And clean however I wouldn't call it the best radiant heat as Hydronic Radiant Heat is much more economical.
Poring concrete over plastic pipe coils in the floor and then pumping hot water from a boiler is much more efficient.
I have installed this kind of heat in new homes back in the 80's.

I suspect it in not that much warmer where Rich, Dirk and Joker live.

Not on the average Milo, like I said, I have a meter of snow on my roof right now and they have very little to none.

I still think JR is using a very dumb and expensive way to heat his home.

You just want to kid argue like always so you have someone to talk to.
I would replace dumb with convenience Milo, since at my age I can afford to heat with any one of the three options my house has.

LP gas (forced air furnace going on and off all day and night), wood heat (hauling the wood in and hauling the ashes out) or electric (where I just set the dial).

I just worry about your emotional state.

Thank you, you really do have feelings for me don't you.
PM your telephone number so we can talk about it. :-)

To get so upset over something like that...

Your emotions about me seem much much more upsetting to be honest.
The last thing I need is an old lady in my life worrying about me.
Unless you are very wealthy and then we can talk.

I also found it less efficient in the meaning

Less efficient then coal but 100% cleaner heat and that is what the thread is Suppose to be about.

If his place is half the size mine, doesn't have security lights ($4z per day each to operate) that he pays for, no sauna or washer and dryer, and a string of electronics that run 24/7 like my air purifier, humidifier, power lift and massager chair and living in a climate that the average temperature in February is 29F/11C here compared to 38F/25C in Wroclaw for example.

Right now I have a meter of snow on the roof of my house.
This is why I was getting so annoyed with Millie when she was trying to start an argument comparing apples with oranges.

There's a lot of EU money available to help, for a start.

Exactly what I said to revive this thread back in post # 128 where I posted the European Union plans to dedicate a quarter of its budget to tackling climate change and to help shift 1 trillion euros ($1.1 trillion) in investment towards making the economy more environmentally friendly over the next 10 years.

What an opportunity for Poland ! But stubborn Poland has not agreed yet to a timeline to quit burning coal.

God helps those who help themselves.

I've got the heating set and the monthly bill is about 300zl a month on average,

How many sq m is your flat and how much will your bill be in February ?

why the life expectancy figure is now falling

Also the countries huge medical costs due to respiratory problems.

no need to get angry or excited....

You do have a terrific imagination son

@ JohnnyCalm down man. No need to get so agitated.

Thank you Lenka as I do get agitated when people cherry pick out of context just to argue.
I repeatedly stated that was the most I paid in the dead of winter and other winter months could be less then half that.
I also posted that electricity could cost more here then there.
I also posted that there were many variables to be compared but to no avail.
These kids just want to argue to argue.

Of course I forgot to mention that includes hot water and a gas hob in the kitchen

Mine includes hot water for my sauna and washer machine, electric dryer, yard sodium security lights (wow !), and a string of other luxuries that I am quite sure you don't have.

I also stated that I have a wood burner for back up but I did not mention that I also have a back up LP tank (500 gallon) with a LP furnace that is only used to warm the house up quickly.

That LP tank is also connected to my home generator so if the electricity does go off (like it did last night because of very high winds with tree branches breaking and falling on the power lines) the generator kicks on automatically.

I live in a rural area and it is every man for himself.
Is there anymore personal information that you want of mine to defend my posts so you can badger me with it Harry ?
(J.R. gives up telling these hammer heads to stay on topic and appreciates the Mods patience more and more every day)

That's Nice.

I meant 1500zl a month for both of them in the coldest month of winter when they run non-stop.

My house is twice as big as yours plus I live in a much colder region and I like to keep it very warm in my house.

L300 wouldn't even buy a cord of good hard wood here in the U.S. and I go thru a cord of wood in a week when it is -25C.

You must live in a very small house with low ceilings.
Maybe your electric costs less then mine too.
There are just to many variables to compare.

That is bloody expensive.

Welcome to the U.S.A. tax base who's military picks up the tab to protect the E.U.
Now I don't know what is the matter with you thick head self centered morons that INSIST hell or high water to take this thread off-topic just to argue.

How do your wives put up with you.

but to have someone to ARGUE and take the thread right off topic again and again and again

Except for the fact that these infrareds are engineered and designed to have maximum efficiency.

The infrared heaters contain three parts: infrared light bulbs, a conductor like copper and a fan that blows air onto the exchanger.

The coiled wired ones lack such technology.
My next reply will be, "That's nice".
Now for the sake of sanity Rich, go pester your wife.

Closer to Gaylord.

Infared heaters are not particularly economical, nor are any electrical heaters.

Have you ever owned an infrared heater ?
Those two quotes don't go together.
First it would depend on the cost of the electricity and second it would depend on what you are comparing them with.

I use two Sun Heat electric heaters to heat my house. (2000 sq m)They cost about 1500zl each,

I meant 1500zl a month for both of them in the coldest month of winter when they run non-stop.
Since it is a lot colder here than Poland I would expect you could cut that price in half in Poland in most winter months.

Is there anyone here with an engineering degree?

With all your knowledge I think you should march right over to Poland and build them a nuclear reactor then. :-)

As home heaters, they are not any more efficient that the ordinary heated wire types.

I told you B.S. because I have used both the porcelain wire ones and the infrared and the wire porcelain cost a lot more to heat with.

O.K. ? (wanna see my electric bill ? duh)
Did you get it that time because I could give a rip about your A B C's.
I was trying to educate people on infrared heater so they could google them to see how well they worked to replace coal burning.
Then you chime in (like always.... on every subject) calling me a liar, not to debate but to have someone to ARGUE and take the thread right off topic again and again and again as long as it is about how smart you are.

You could make a preacher swear Rich.

I know a thing or two about science and electrical engineering.

But you are clueless how these heaters are designed and engineered which makes your MSEE worthless.
Didn't I say "NO ESSAY" as we already know how opinionated you are on every subject.
Is there no one else here today for you to argue with ?
These Sun Heats are designed with the same technology as the Eden Pure only twice as well constructed.
These would be a big hit in Poland to be the first one in the neighborhood to have one.
Excellent option over coal and my guess as economical in the long run.

B.S. !
Is there ANYTHING that you are not an authority on ! ?
No essay please as we already know the answer.
Infrared are much more economical to run than the old wire type heaters and 100% safer.
I think you should look into being a distributor for them in Poland gumishu.
After you make your first million you can fly me over to Poland to celebrate your success.

The Sun Heat is Infrared.
The infrared heaters contain three parts that create heat: infrared light bulbs, a heat exchanger (such as a good metal conductor like copper) and a fan that blows air onto the exchanger to create the heat.

Very economical and much cheaper to operate then a conventional electric heater because of it's technology.
I think the technology came from maybe a Scandinavia country.

.....yeah...and then that thing explodes

Yeah right B.B. and the sky may fall too.

I don't have respiratory issues

Do you have any idea what acid rain is and the damage that is doing not only to your drinking water but the chain reaction from it ?

Solar panels have been proven insufficient and not cost effective in countries like Poland.
I lived within 15 kiometers from one of the first nuclear reactors ever built in the U.S.A. for 45 years until it was decommissioned.

electric heating is the most expensive

You have no idea the minimum amount of electricity those Sun Heat heaters even use.
Compare one with the real cost of ALL the factors that come with coal burning.
I'm beginning to see a pattern with Polish people and that none of them want to budge on anything because they hate ANY KIND of change.

Hey people......it's 2020 !
AND there is only one place to build a nuclear reactor and that is where there is a huge source of water because it takes a lot to keep them cool.

That would most likely be between Gdansk and Szczecin so those people living there can either accept it or move.
That's what we were told when they built ours and a lot of people did move out of fear over nothing.

I want my coal unless you provide me with equally cheap alternative -

Is it really cheaper when you factor in all the respiratory health issues that cost the country how much in medical costs and lost wages in a variety of ills.

How about electric heat in Poland ?
Where I live it is much colder then what Poland experiences and I use two Sun Heat electric heaters to heat my house. (2000 sq m)

They cost about 1500zl each, heat a 1000 sq m each and I have had mine for seven years with no problems.
They plug into any wall outlet, are on coaster wheels to roll on and are about .06m x. 06m x .06m in size.

bing.com/search?q=Sun+Heat&src=IE-TopResult&FORM=IETR02&pc=EUPP_UF03&conversationid=

100% CLEAN with No smoke, no ashes to empty and dispose of, no dust and dirt, no dirty coal to store, to hassle loading the furnace twice a day or more, an even heat...........yet I do have a wood burner for back up in case the power goes out during a storm.

Just think, if Poland would get out of the dinosaur age and build a nuclear reactor to produce a surplus of affordable electricity.

The subject of Global Warming has been exhausted here, in fact that thread has been closed.
(Poland blocks any action on climate change)
Yes Global Warming is a hoax, it has made a lot of people rich and it is nothing out of the ordinary of weather throughout history..

Did you eggheads get it that time ????
If not please explain the Maunder Minimum when the hoax was that the earth was going to freeze and end all life.
The Maunder Minimum, also known as the "prolonged sunspot minimum", is the name used for the period around 1645 to 1715.
Europe never had summers and nothing grew during that mini ice age.
All caused because of solar flares and sunspots know as WEATHER, nothing to do with a man made hoax.
Man can not control solar flares or the weather so please stop already with the global warming hoax once and for all.
If you still can't sleep at night in fear of rising oceans then book a cruise on an ocean liner or build an Ark.

NOW can we get back on topic about Poland's Coal Plants that pollute the environment and causes health issues.

What answer should that be?

Go to the "Poland blocks any action on climate change" thread and you will find your answer.
Your question has been re - hashed over and over and over.
I am tired of repeating it.
It's really a moot point if you aren't going to accept our answers.

I haven't seen any floodings because of rising ocean levels

Remember obama's speech where he said that certain areas would be under water in just a few years and then three years later he bought a $15 million dollar home that sits smack dead center in one of these areas.

What does that tell ? Does the word 'HOAX' come to mind ?
Have you ever considered that all the smog that we are creating will eventually block out the sun light which will cause another ice age ? ;-)

They are literally poisonings their families and all the people around them.

Actually the whole world if you factor in the acid rain from just the coal alone.
Where I live you would get a very hefty fine for burning a plastic bottle or anything plastic.

Okay...pollution first!

How about paying off your first debt that you agreed to NATO first.

Check out what the interests of those scientists are

The same scientists that admitted they forged documents and lied about global warming.

And then after the fact when the Polish people's life expectancy increases by ten years because of all the respiratory problems.
(Water quality from acid rain too not to mention the bye products of coal.)
One Trillion sounds like a lot but it is not for such a project,
The U.S. military budget per year is almost that.

...Europe is the most richest continent, with the european Single Market we have the most richest consumer base...WE ARE TOP

Then why don't they pony up to NATO for their share if they are so damn rich ?
(and I don't mean Poland as they are one of the very few that pays their way)

News / Green electricity in Poland [41]

Posted ten years ago this month:

- By 2020, Poland is expected to have a total installed capacity of up to 12,500 MW,

12,500MWatts= 12.5GWatts.So it is a pretty ambitious target.

Today in 2020 it is my understanding that Poland has around 9GW of renewable electricity.
Good job Poland !

Or the Russian's pushing up prices or circumventing Poland with its pipeline, showing the lack of solidarity in the E.U.

I think Trump was quite adamant in pointing that out to Merkel ten years later but that is a different thread.
