Ukraine obviously considers civilians in occupied territories Ukrainian citizens and makes every effort to avoid collateral damage, while Russia treats them as slaves fit to be robbed, murdered or press-ganged for meat assaults on a whim. Including shelling Donetsk with an aim to produce civilian casaulties to blame Ukraine and reduce international support.

The pardon granted before the final court ruling has been given is not legally binding. Once the final ruling has given (about December 20th, 2023), the President had ample time to pardon them properly. He declined to do so. Precisely in order to stir sh*it up, and possibly because he is too haughty to admit that he erred in his previous, failed, attempt at pardoning them.

PIS is very obviously trying to imitate the strategy that let PO stay relevant after losing 8 years ago ("waaaah, deff of democracy, such totalitarian oppression!"). However PO's electorate is much more susceptible to rousing in this way than that of PIS.

Btw, TV Republika, a very little conservative brother of the recently murdered state/party tv channel, is experiencing rapid growth. I wonder how devoted they'll be to the cause of restoring tvp to its former glory status, since they benefit financialy big time from it staying dead. Apparently the price of a 30 second commercial in Republika went from 500pln to 20k pln.

Poland's prime minister, Donald Tusk, has declared that his government would refuse to accept any relocated asylum seekers under the EU's proposed new migration pact. He added that he is opposed in general to the introduction of such a system.

"The position of the Polish government [is that] we will not accept any forced mechanism [to relocate asylum seekers] and I want to assure you that Poland will not accept illegal migrants under any such mechanism," said Tusk on Wednesday.

"We will not accept a single migrant," he added. "Poland will never be part of such a mechanism."

"Polish-Ukrainian friendship" is better to be true than false, but even if it doesn't exist, we wouldn't care much about it (and we know it don't exist at the latest since they refused to give a dignified burial to the victims of Volhynia), the important thing is that we have to stop the Russians until they come to their senses. And the fact that Ukrainians are dying instead of us is a good deal for us, so we can send the equipment even if they spit on us. All in all, it's just a little money.

Zelensky could spit in the face of each Pole individually and we would still give them equipment, we are not doing it out of the goodness of our hearts, but because we want to have a buffer between us and Russia and therefore, regardless of the bullshit about grain, we will continue to help them.
