Whenever a community, city, state, or country has imposed a ban on guns, regardless if it was all guns or simply handguns, it has experienced an increase in murder rates.

As I understand it, both Poland and German systems of gun control is among the most stringent in Europe.
It restricts the acquisition, possession, and carrying of firearms to those with a creditable need for a weapon.
The number of legal guns in Germany is about 7 per 100 residents.
And if that is the case there would only be 5.6 million guns and not 40 million as you suggest.
