Off-Topic / Stock Market and Trading Talk [1011]

I stuck my neck out and suggest you buy Tesla a couple of years ago and got laughed at.

If you would have listened and taken my advise you could retire now in Poland modestly.

There is your second tip and lesson on investing in the market, the first when I suggested everyone to buy TESLA.

I bought 200 shares of their stock back in March 2017 at $243 per share. (TSLA)

(delph & I I posted the following March of 2017)

I still believe that Tesla stock could hit $1000 per share in three or four years.

Looks like Tesla are finished. The stock is at $260 and in freefall

I tried to tell you guys now didn't I........three years later Tesla stock just hit a $1000 a share. July 2020.
"If" I would not have listened to delph and would have held on to my 200 shares for the last three years I would have made $150,000 on it.

Delph......You're Fired !

Work / English teachers in Poland - why are they so unhappy? [89]

I suggest you find a therapist

No need when I have your meaningless daily suggestions/opinions.

or recognizes any "power" that any posters here have.

Not as much as they use to have.
The English teachers (ex-pats) that use to lord over people here who had English as their second language that got mocked and belittled by these sad old drunken unhappy ex-pat school teachers from Britain.

And even today they seem so depressed with no excitement in their lives.
They have no hobbies, they don't participate in sports, they get zero exercise, they make crappy wages, they live in gloomy flats, and their highlight of the week is going out to drink alcohol.

No wonder they are so unhappy.

one time mentioning ENGLISH TEACHERS would get you permanently banned

I remember that very well Cargo.
And since all the ex-pats posting here were English teachers they use to have all the power here.
But then we got new Mods and all of that changed. :-)

News / Tesco abandon Poland [66]

Guess people like to buy cheap food.

Like the saying goes Cargo, "Good food is not cheap and cheap food is not good."
Hopefully Poland will never see the junk food stores that the U.S.A. has like Dollar General and Family Tree.
Everything in the store is $1.
These stores have been popping up all over America in economically disadvantaged areas.
The foods are sub standard and causing poor people to buy the crap making them very unhealthy with high fat, salt and sugar contents.
This causes all kinds of health issues from obesity, heart decease, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.
Most of the crap comes from China.
A couple of items like 'Polish mushrooms' in a jar for $1 is one heck of a deal however.
Cheap foods ruin a persons health which in essence costs Poland's health care system a ton of money in the long run.
You should be very glad that Tesco has moved out Poland.

News / Tesco abandon Poland [66]

Not really as they are expanding in other countries.
The move to close stores on Sundays created "market challenges" in Poland.
That meant business in the country lagged behind the "stronger market positions with good growth prospects" in the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia, on which the Tesco will now focus.

Tesco will still keep 19 independently owned stores in Poland.
Once Poland sees the lease obligation price falling it may be incentive for someone to pick up buy back shares offered by Tesco.
Just another marketing ploy by big business to restructure.

USA, Canada / Poles Living in the Chicago Area [343]

Obama is not in charge now -

Thank God for small favors !
You probably haven't notice that all the rioting, burning, looting is happening in cities with Democratic leadership.
Oh, and do tell us what obimbo did when he was at the helm to solve the Black shootings in Chicago besides play basketball with several NBA players, the Harlem Globetrotters, Team U.S.A. and his buddies in the Rose garden weekly.

Now it's those infected with the Trump Derangement Syndrome, like you cms, that are so desperately trying to blame Trumps R&R time playing a round of golf for the Blacks shooting each other in Chicago.

Trumps wants to send the military in to clean the mess up but the Bleeding Heart Liberals won't stand for it.
You can't make this stuff up.

News / Presidential elections 2020 - your opinions about campaign, candidates [2222]

That's nothing to do with LGBT matters.

Sure it does.
Stars of banned condom ad fear Duda's re-election.
For Jakub Kwiecinski, a ban by Poland's public broadcaster on a condom advertising featuring him and his husband has come as no surprise, but it does make him uneasy about what targets a government clampdown on LGBT rights.

Duda's the man for Poland.

Maffy, are you having a bad day again ?

The generation who grew up in the U.K. with rationing during and after WWII are probably the healthiest generation ever.

Of course.
Same in the U.S. as we didn't have all the commercialized foods back then that we have today.
Meat, potato's and green beans but what kid wants that today when there is Pizza Hut and McDonalds filled with taste enhancers.
How many parents even cook at home today ?

No one pays any attention to you in real life, do they?

Of course they do.
Just look how popular I am here and how unpopular you are here.
You are just being jealous again.
Now get back on topic before I cuff you one.

To get a troll to understand that sometimes requires repeating it several times until the abnormal people that Bait get it.
Being the muckraker freak that you are you should understand that maffy.
Now get back on topic.

Who?

jon stop your trolling as you have answered your own question repeatedly in this thread.

So I guess the correct answer to your Baiting question is, SOCIETY pays for the free meals jon.
No please stop with your non stop trolling and baiting.

Study / School meals in Poland [145]

That's the whole point.

Not true jon, the point was that nothing is free just like those free meals you speak of.
Someone has to pay for them so they are not free as a meal in itself.
They only become free after they have been paid for by society.
You seem to having a horrible time perceiving that fact.

a lot of hard work is needed to truly break the vicious circle of deprivation.

Poland is notorious for always being twenty to thirty years behind times in these priority areas jon.

Study / School meals in Poland [145]

Everybody.

Exactly jon, "everybody" pays for those free meals so in essence they are only free to the beneficiary.

Probably the same as with his lazy ass father...

I want to push your button here Lenka and say that the father is the bread winner who buys the food so it is the lazy ass mother's job to prepare it.

I won't though as this is not a laughing matter as in your next remark a light bulb went on from my youth.

But let's admit it- UK and I assume Ireland have great support for struggling families and in that respect hats off.

It was no secret that here in the U.S. that the Polish look at children different then other countries.
It seemed that with the Polish, children just happened and aren't really planned.
Children should be seen but not heard and have a job by the time they are twelve to support themselves.
As long as you have a society that accepts alcoholism as a norm nothing is going to change anytime soon.
I personally could not deprive an animal from food that was hungry and will never understand how a father or mother could abuse their own child with such neglect.

Vitamin D is so important in a child's development.

That's the problem with the Polish menu, way too fatty and salty, way too much pork.

Tradition carried over from the days of war when the food supply was scarce.
How did my Polish grandfather live into his late 80's and my Polish grandmother live into her late 90's when all they ate was potato pancakes with bacon grease smeared on them.

School meals are.As Kaprys pointed out, society provides them.

Being a Socialist I can understand why you are so adamant about denying that "Nothing is free" besides the air you breath.
kapry pointed out that social welfare pays for those lunches so they are not free.
I don't have to live in Poland to understand that ms. so proud to be Polish.

School meals are.As Kaprys pointed out, society provides them.

So you are now claiming that "society' pays for the school lunches ?
Who is society jon ?
Nothing is free and neither are the school lunches as society pays for them just as you claimed.

Do pay attention; we're talking about Poland.

Really jon, who is "we" ?

In the U.K., all kids are the local authority's responsibility anyway

I thought you said we were talking about Poland ?

Education is free too.

Nothing is free jon.
Didn't you just say in your above quote that "they need to be very well funded ?"
Where do those FREE FUNDS come from jon ?
Do you even know what you post or do you really think you can bamboozle people with your baffling b.s. ?

or even a first breakfast (plenty of kids in Poland don't), that need to be fed.

Now wait, you can't have it both ways jon, first you say how some children are being denied food and then in your next breath you say what a good meal service the schools have.

You are starting to find out that free education isn't so free.

It is here.

families that are struggling to cope - If it was that cheap, schools wouldn't be short of money.

How can schools be short of money if they are free ?
AGAIN jon, as I have told you, you can't have it both ways.
The E.U. economy is doing quite well you say.......compared to who, Venezuela ?
Now please just stay on topic and quit trying to confuse the issue.

In most places, the ideal is to support families that are struggling to cope, help them to manage life better

We do here in the U.S.A. jon and it is called the Foodstamp program and the Manna Project not to mention the churches food pantry's full of free food.

No one goes hungry here in the U.S.A.

If it was that cheap, schools wouldn't be short of money.

Naw, Socialism is just catching up with ya'll and you are starting to find out that free education isn't so free.
Priorities jon.

The costs, especially in a district with high population density and high povert6 levels, quickly mount up.

Understandably as we know how the E.U. is economically in dire straights as the economy keeps getting worse there.
Socialism works great until the other guys money runs out jon and it sounds like the other guys money is running out.

In your ideal and nonexistent world, yes. In the real world, not parents live up to that ideal.

Then they end up in family court here in the U.S. in my ideal existent world.
And you Brits wonder why we have so many people incarcerated in the U.S.
Because we hold people accountable for crimes like not feeding their kids and letting them run without guidance.

Of course if a school has to feed kids (as they should), then they need to be very well funded.

Not really as feeding kids foods like spaghetti, goulash, baked beans with hotdogs, coleslaw ect. that kids like are quite cheap.

Jim is right,

James to you Coldslaw.

a good education regardless of how poor the parenting is.

Parents are apart of a child's education.
If a parent refuses to responsibly feed their children properly then have them arrested for neglect.
Once the kid walks into to school they become the schools responsibility and if the school doesn't want to feed them properly shut the damn school down.

Like I said, kids love spaghetti and you can make a truck load of it for $20 so what's the problem.

I once asked a little guy if he'd had breakfast

So what the hell is wrong with his lazy ass mother that she couldn't fry him some potato's and onions sprinkled with some cheese ?

Or fry him and egg with some toast ?
There is no excuse for such child abuse ......NONE !
For the price of a bottle of vodka and a pack of smokes you could feed a kid spaghetti all week.

How about introducing kids to different tastes? Maybe some mushroom gravy?

Exactly Lenka and send the recipe home to Mom.
Mushroom gravy over some potato's or rice or even a slice of bread for starters.
There is no excuse besides ignorance and neglect.

And that's why you need to watch a child's salt intake.

Sugar is much worse than salt for you.

for some students that school dinner might be the only decent meal they get.

Very true in America also.

I've had a couple of people contact me about my DT and NVDA stocks.
YES, I sold both of them this last Tuesday along with several others.

Time for some French Vanilla ice cream and a nap.

@Ziemowit
I have decided to sell all my stocks except for four of the blue chips that have nice dividends.
I bought all four of them from the bargain basement so will do very well on them when the market comes back.
The rest will be sold by the end of this week.
I bought a very nice fishing boat and plan on spending as much time on it as I can this winter Ziemowit.
Trading stocks to make money takes a lot of time and energy.
(and coming here between trades every day has become a waste of time management also)
I have made enough money in my life and now it's time to enjoy it as the time part is running out on me.

USA, Canada / Church recommendation in or near Traverse City, Michigan? [20]

Jordan is 180° from Alanston and you said you live there.

No, Coldslaw said I lived in Alanson.

Can you help with a church

I already told you in my quote below this Slim....

Oh, then I wouldn't know. I know more about the restaurants and bars in that area but not that much about the Evangelical churches.

Now, "why do you play games" and not tell us what country YOU live in.
