Life / How are electric cars doing in Poland? [413]

Those cars in 1901 didn't even have shock absorbers and had spring seats so I can see how they were much more comfortable. lol
I'll take the toy crap that no doubt is better designed then any vehicle your country makes.
But thank you for another jealous opinion.

Surely.....LOL
They cost $112,000 CAD in the U.S.A, and another $19,000 for Canadian duty to import them from the U.S.A. into Canada for a total of around $130,000 CAD..

You better buy all of them you can at $103,000 CAD.
Now to make the Mods REAL HAPPY, lets get back on and stay on topic.

Maybe ? is it assumed ? I cannot believe, a verification is needed....................
I'm sure if you Googled your questions you could get an answer to them.

I cannot believe it is a price for a whole new battery.

For the umpteen time ..................(sigh) (he must be smoking something good)

Patience johnny reb, (as he does a palm face plant while he pauses to think of doing something constructive today)......time to read a bedtime story to my cat before his nap. :-)

That is autopilot - it's not self driving.

Please explain the difference to me.....(for the sake of a pointless argument).
What's the difference in "saying" then typing in your destination to get there hands and feet free while you sleep ?
That is here NOW, not decades away.
Budweiser even has a driverless semi truck that is capable of delivering beer from point A to point B cities apart.
This is America my friend.

What is the weight of the battery, 400 kg? And the price is 30 K?

The motor in my pick -up truck weighs about 400kg and for a Tesla Model S85, the price is at around $6,500 (6.5K) to replace not 30K.

You may think that's too much, but if you think about the warranty of the battery which is eight years, that's not too bad.

(That is a life time warranty for me) lol
Right now the price of gas is around $2.20 a gallon but on the average of over the last ten years it was around $4.
No, and AGAIN......20 gallons a week is not that much at all in my truck which will take me about 300 miles or which is ONLY 42 miles a day.

Hell son, it's thirty miles to town and back.
Now, I am done wasting my time arguing with your ignorance.
You have anymore questions please google them and quit playing dumb.

Is this your "Hummer" fuel consumption or where is it from?

Is a tank of gas a week uncommon where you live ? (20 gallons)
Your opinion with the words you use like, I think - Hopefully - is only wishful thinking to argue.
The technology is here my friend.

Hopefully with 100 kg battery would be able to drive 150-200 km on electricity

The Tesla Model S is an all electric sedan.
As of last year, the Model S Long Range has an EPA range of 373 miles (600 km), which is higher than any other battery electric car.

An average American spends around $1400 a year on gasoline,

I have no idea where you came up with that figure but it is not even close to the truth.
Lets word it like this, "How much does an average car owner spend for gas per year at $4 per gallon ?"

I'm not talking about assisted driving, but real self drive cars.

So am I, cms, Google self driving Tesla.
The technology is here.

Life / How are electric cars doing in Poland? [413]

I think no average customer will ever agree to pay 20-30 K just for a battery and replace it every 8-10 years.

So you would rather put 20 gallons of gas in your car per week times 52 week a year equals 1040 gallons per year times 10 year equals 10400 at say $4 per gallon equals $42k for gas in ten years versa $30k for a battery in ten years.

The self driving thing is decades away.

It's already here with even self driving semi trucks.
Tesla will have self driving cars on the roads this summer.
Tesla chief Elon Musk announced that the company's Model S sedan and Model X SUV will have self driving features within six months.
The Tesla cars will be able to drive themselves on highways and navigate to the user when summoned.

and smell the tires

Don't kid yourself, you can smoke the tires on a Tesla.
They will smoke most cars 0 to 60mph.
The roadster can do 0 to 60 in under two seconds and the model S in under four seconds.
And thats gittin' it in my book.
I think Tesla is awd since they have two separate motors in them.

no average customer will ever agree to pay 20-30 K just for a battery and replace it every 8-10 years.

One more time just for you..........Tesla is coming out September 22cd with their battery day.
Now just sit still until then before you continue as they may have some new revelations coming out that will diminish your foddar..

Off-Topic / Stock Market and Trading Talk [1011]

See above for my remarks on the monetary policies of the Federal Reserve.

I just read that article this morning.
LONDON (Reuters) - Goldman Sachs said it had upped global equity allocations to "overweight" for the next three months after a recent market pullback, citing an inflection in earnings growth and catch-up moves by cyclical stocks, which had lagged the summer rally.

Investing takes endless reading, research reports and trading charts, Ziemow.
The best time to invest in cyclical stocks is usually in the last year before interest rates rise.
Generally this is when cyclical stocks are most likely to perform better than growth stocks.
This is key, if they're riskier and provide a smaller return than growth stocks, they're not worth investing in.

The Tesla has a range of over 260 miles, Tesla comes right to your home at no charge and fixes your Tesla for free.

How it compares to a gasoline one?

No exhaust system to replace and almost dead quiet.
It's the car of the future until the flying cars come out for the public.
Poland and Canada are missing a golden opportunity for not getting in on ground level.

Were you?

Go back to post #62 Ziemow
johnny reb = I sold my Tesla after a modest gain.
(I had DT in between also.)
I since re - invested that money into 200 shares of Apple (AAPL) back in the first part of April 2020 at $240 a share.

Since then Apple had a four way split which made my 200 shares 800 shares worth $60 a share at my buying price.
On September 3rd 2020 Apple hit $121 per share so I had doubled my money and sold half of my 800 shares.
I now own 400 shares of Apple stock free and clear in my portfolio.
I am looking to invest maybe in Wal-mart if it corrects to $121 per share as it is currently over priced at $137 per share just like Tesla and Apple are over priced right now..

Wal-mart was at $147 before the correction so the people buying stocks in August had more money than brains.

Did you detect any signs of an approaching slump in Tesla shares beforehand?

It wasn't just Tesla Ziemowit, most stocks are over priced right now with the market hitting all time highs again and again this last summer.

A correction right now is no big surprise to anyone.

See above for my remarks on the monetary policies of the Federal Reserve.

Exactly, keeping your money in any kind of savings accounts in a bank is throwing your money away.
The cost of living is 4% in the U.S so if I am not making at least 4% on my money I am losing money.
Most saving accounts don't even pay 1% or like you said, they pay a negative rate.
MOR or Money On Return is the bottom line when you invest and a banks savings accounts are a negative investment.

These days Tesla has hit a $330 low.

That was a good time to buy Tesla during it's correction, Ziemowit.
Yesterday Tesla jumped nearly 11%, rebounding from worst day on record
Tesla shares jumped ahead of the close on Wednesday, finishing the session 10.92% higher.
Wednesday's double-digit percentage gain came after Tesla dropped 21% on Tuesday for its worst day on record.
That's why we call it the Wall Street Casino, Ziemo.
No guts, no glory.
Next time you are in a Casino, go to the craps table and put a $20 spot on Yo 11.
If you hit you will feel like a damn genius.

@Ziemowit
Here's todays latest Market report.
Dow futures turn positive Thursday as tech attempts to rebound for a second session.
U.S. stock-index futures early Thursday were paring losses to turn positive as investors digested economic reports and a policy update from the European Central Bank.

Technology shares turned higher for a second day to extend a Wednesday bounceback after the Nasdaq fell into correction on Tuesday, retreating from record highs seen just last week.

Life / How are electric cars doing in Poland? [413]

Can you imagine load on the greed when nearly everyone will do the same?!

That's the whole point Vlad, how will that electricity be produced to fill this void on the grid ?
Well of course, with fossil fuels that will cost more to produce the electricity then the fossil fuels themselves to run a car.
The Libs haven't caught onto this yet.
The air will be cleaner though so Greta will have reason to smile.

First, World still has to see this battery

Patience Grass Hopper, did you not read my post 217 above ?
I am looking forward to Tesla's "Battery Day" on Sept. 22.

then a new types of batteries created,

Did you not read my post #217 about the new million mile battery ?
There are already giant battery producing factories.
My friends with Tesla's didn't have to put thick copper or aluminum cables underground to charge their cars.
Huge work is being done as we speak.
Russia can't be half stepping here if they expect to keep up with Poland.
By eliminating fossil fuels to power cars will sink Russia's economy even further..

Life / How are electric cars doing in Poland? [413]

We have established that in the next 10 to 20 years electric cars will replace gasoline engine cars.
Now it's just a beginning and Poland should be jumping in.
Three key factors give Tesla a edge for the competition. (1) "Million Mile" Battery.
I am looking forward to Tesla's "Battery Day" on Sept. 22.
At that event, analysts are expecting Tesla to announce some breakthrough technology, including a new battery with the ability to last as long as 1 million miles.

(2) Autopilot, 'Almost Self Driving'......... Tesla is at the leading position there.
(3) Production and demand trajectory in China for Tesla remains robust and stronger than expected for its third quarter with clear momentum heading into years end.

Poland should open the doors for a huge Tesla plant to be built there.

Travel / Hiking and Camping Trails in Poland [51]

WoW those are great picture!
Did you take them ?
The higher altitude trails on the Tatra's may be a bit much for an old guy like me however.

Funny, never heard of it in relation to bears,

You said that the main interest of a bear is food and not humans.
A bears main instinct is their sense of smell as they are basically blind but can smell food many kilometers away.
Keeping it separate from you when you sleep in a bears backyard is only common sense.

it would be impossible to cover that 500 km trail.

To be young again.............

Yes, bears do,

Same here in the U.S. but at least here we are allowed to pack some heat with us for self defense.
In Alaska you would be a self sacrifice in the back country without a gun.
You have to have some common sense and not store your food in your tent rather hoist your back pack up on a rope twenty feet into a tree a safe distance from your camp site.

I have already picked out a trail in Poland that I want to hike.

just throwing your own words back at you as usual.

Monthly as usual. nlol

Travel / Hiking and Camping Trails in Poland [51]

I started this thread to learn about rural Poland so it is understandable how my statements may seem ridiculous to a Brit as yourself, Pam, who has visited Poland.

Your effort to shame me because I want to learn about rural Poland certainly shows your inferiority complex towards Americans that want to learn as much as they can about their family ancestry in Poland.

Do you have any family ancestry in Poland ?

do you seriously think that all hikers on the Appalachian Trail for example, are humble Americans

How creative of you in your efforts to belittle me as never did I mention 'hikers', I was referring to the small farms and village people.

And YES, here in America the people who live away from the cities and in rural areas are much more humble down to earth people in general.

See, you just learned something and I found no need to shame your ignorance in the process.

Not that you will be hiking it as I've lost count of how many times you've said you are coming to Poland.

I am impressed to think you you have kept count of my private life that needs no explaining to YOU.
You seem infatuated with me as I must remind you of one of your brothers that use to knock you around when you needed it.

Clearly your knowledge of Polish people is about as good as your knowledge of maths.

My math is excellent for a guy my age, probably much better then yours.
Yes Pam, your knowledge of Poland is better then mine since you have visited Poland and I haven't.
I could belittle you just as bad if we were discussing a country that I have visited that you have not, say like Jamaica.
Wanna give it a try ?
Thank you for your condescending input in your failed efforts of my monthly brow beating by you.
No wonder you never meant any humble people while hiking in Poland with that deep frown line in your forehead as attitude is everything.
Try smiling next time while losing your British superiority complex and just watch what a difference it makes in meeting humble people......such as myself.

Attitude is everything Pam, ATTIDUDE ! ;-)

Google "Space X" to educate yourself on such a jealous remark.
Space Exploration Technologies Corp., trading as SpaceX, is an American aerospace manufacturer and space transportation services company headquartered in Hawthorne, California. It was founded in 2002 by Elon Musk with the goal of reducing space transportation costs to enable the colonization of Mars. SpaceX has developed several launch vehicles, the Starlink satellite constellation, the Dragon cargo spacecraft, and flown humans to the International Space Station on the Crew Dragon Demo-2.

One would have to come to the conclusion that your "hopefully" more then matches his net worth.
Now can we get back on topic about Elon Musk wanting to put a Tesla plant in Wroclaw that would create many jobs for that area not to mention the tax base it would create for Poland.

Poland should take note on the Tesla plant that Musk put in Berlin and invite him to Poland with open arms.

Life / How are electric cars doing in Poland? [413]

Looks like Tesla are finished. The stock is at $260 and in freefall,

Really, Tesla closed today, (three years later) at $2232.

All those people shorting Tesla are laughing right now, and the stock is headed for the basement.

Quite the contrary.

Tesla isn't even in the top five sellers here

And it only took two years for Tesla to take over the top spot.
The Model S, Model X and since 2019 the Model 3 have taken the all electric brand to new heights, selling over 100,000 cars in Europe, with the Model 3 as the best selling EV in the continent, ahead of the much cheaper Renault Zoe and Nissan Leaf.

Never panic.

Tesla today is worth between $ 45 to $ 50 Billion and Musk is still at the helm.

The people who still hold the stocks tend to be people who didn't react fast enough. Investors in Europe and Asia are shorting those stocks

People in Europe ?
You know any of them by their first name ?

I for one would have to disagree with that as the Tesla is selling itself today.
Poland missed an huge opportunity when Musk wanted to put a Tesla plant in Wroclaw.

Tesla is now available in Poland.
en.smartme.pl/Tesla-in-Poland/
And look at those comfortable lavish leather seats and don't forget the all wheel drive for winter driving in the snow.
0 to 100 kph in 5.6 seconds.

He's finished alright.
Actually Elon Musk's personal net worth is over 100 Billion today.

America workers are the top producers in the world so they are use to working 60 plus hours a week.

Rome was not built in a day but then again Musk wasn't ahead of that job.
Maybe he will choose Poland to base his Space X program to put private citizens into space travel.
Coming soon.............

Everyone is someone Lenka, even the rest.
Even as condescending and snotty as the females are on this forum, except for Atch, I sit back and wonder what is really going on in your lives that make you so bitter.

Obviously you all have been hurt by someone in your lives very badly and still have open wounds.
My simplistic view of the people that live in the country is only stupid to you.
I have travelled many places and have always found that country folks are way less hardened then the city folks.
They are not as worldly as city folk.
That's why when I come to Poland I want to get off the beaten path and meet people that are down to earth and count their blessings.

And if you see that as stupid then shame on you.

For example? What does Poland need that Belarus has?

Nuclear power plant is the first thing that comes to my mind.

A win win for both countries.
