Po polsku / Apel o pojednanie z Rosją [30]

Pojednanie to akt dwustronny, w ktorym za slowami powinny isc tez konkrety. Mniej emocji wiecej pragmatyki.

Puste polityczne deklaracje sa niepowazne, a przez wieksza czesc zeszlego wieku, a takze i obecnie, to Rosja dyktowala warunki "wspolpracy" Polsce.

Sadze ze te ruchy ze strony Rosji sa wywolane torpedowaniem Nord Stream II i budowa Baltic Pipe, swieza obecnoscia Arabii Saudyjskiej na polskim rynku ropy, a takze wiekszym zaangazowaniem USA w naszej czesci Europy. No i oczywiscie uplywajacy termin dlugookresowej umowy gazowej z Rosja.

Takze, najpierw niech Rosja wyjdzie z oferta np: renegocjacji obowiazujacego skandalicznego kontraktu gazowego, otwarcia rynku na polskie produkty zywnosciowe a wtedy nalezaloby odpowiedziec dobrym gestem z naszej strony.

Lepsze stosunki z Rosja pomoglyby Polsce prowadzic bardziej wielowektorowa polityke zagraniczna.

News / Presidential elections 2020 - your opinions about campaign, candidates [2222]

Relax, not many people will go voting right now in this grotesque atmosphere of "pandemia". Most are not going to vote because "deadly virus will kill us all (and some)".

And I am not going to vote until the government stop penalizing people for not wearing dust masks in public. I disagree with this totalitarian approach and not going to take part in this nonsense.

It should be voluntary so only those who really want it would wear a muzzle on their faces. This will be also an excellent social experiment which would clearly separate easy manipulated halfwits from normal people.

News / Poles say a big YES to our European Union [957]

"Italians' confidence in European institutions collapses. A research by Diamanti, published yesterday in Repubblica, confirmed this: 70% of the interviewees expressed "little" or "no" consent to the EU."

ilgiornale.it/news/politica/italiani-contro-germania-ci-strozza-1850897.html

A possible collapse of the EU is probably the only upside of Chinese flu hysteria. My only concern is that Italians, like most southerners, jump from one strong emotion to another and may quickly forget about those issues.

Life / Place of Living Choice: Poland vs Hungary vs Germany [44]

The overwhelming majority even.

Not the majority I'm familiar with. If by "IT job" you mean some simple data entry or an off-site seo services then yes, they will always be chasing chunks of low paid jobs.

However, I'm not aware of any good Perl developer who would complain about getting decent paid job in Warsaw.
The difference is like between professional WRC driver and your local cabbie :-)

And they are of course a booming gaming industry with companies like CDPR, Techland, 11 Bit Studios, Creepy jar and so on...

News / Presidential elections 2020 - your opinions about campaign, candidates [2222]

It seems that Chinese flu hysteria will eventually work against PiS. They benefited from it so far but overcooked it at the end. Unless they end it soon, they may start losing popularity.

I watched Polish Parliament sessions recently and the only normal (that is unmasked) MEP was G. Braun from Konfederacja. It's good to know that we can count on them.

The society seems to start getting tired of those nonsense restrictions as well but there are still many more who took it seriously and are more scared of mass media virus than are tired of restrictions. Time will tell and the good weather may finally put an end to this grotesque "pandemics".

History / What is Poles opinion on Intermarium (Międzymorze)? [188]

If Germany become part of it (Central European Union) then Germany cease to exist.

And you're thinking that Germany would passively submit to that process?

Historically speaking Germany rather absorb than being absorbed. And given their [still] vast economic potential they would rather aim to dominate the organisation and transform it to serve their own purpose just like they did with the EU.

History / What is Poles opinion on Intermarium (Międzymorze)? [188]

What you call the "EU core" doesn't make sense at all.

By the EU core I call the most "progressive" [regressive in my opinion] EU countries binded together by neo-marxism which is a dominant ideology in Brussel's "elites".

It has nothing to do with the European civilisation. EU doesn't equals Europe. EU is an antithesis of an European civilisation traditionally based on Greek philosophy, Roman law and Christianity.

History / What is Poles opinion on Intermarium (Międzymorze)? [188]

The major win would be to somehow include Italy to 3SI

It's a question of cohesion.

and then

I was thinking rather of including Germany in the union

if we could somehow combine Medjumorje with Mitteleuropa

The whole point of Intermarium is for Poland to become a truly independent state. If Poland wanted to become a German orbiting state we could stay in the EU, join eurozone and the EU core and "ever closer union" and opt for federalization...

History / What is Poles opinion on Intermarium (Międzymorze)? [188]

Of course there are other ideas (like including all the Baltics and Austria in the Union)...

I've got a feeling that Austria is a Trojan horse in 3SI but since it's too weak to influence the decision making process it is not a major threat to the whole organisation.

The major win would be to somehow include Italy to 3SI but for that the whole innitiative needs to mature and become more powerful and influential in Europe.

News / RUSSIA TO MAKE PUBLIC THE KATYN FILES... [274]

Russia only makes public those files that they deemed useful in their current foreign politics. They will play it as long as it is useful and relevant as a political tool.

At least since 1917 everything in Russia is political. And those elites who rule Russia right now are descendants of USRR establishment and of KGB/GRU origins.

They only way to win with Russia is to stop playing their own game and to take the ball somewhere else.

Like in a case of blocking North Stream II which has made them genuinely furious.

The same reaction came after the EU resolution backed by Poland: "The motion (...) equates communism with the barbarity of nazism. It also called for the erasure all memorials of "totalitarianism" across Europe, including memorials dedicated to the Red Army."

Life / Place of Living Choice: Poland vs Hungary vs Germany [44]

Poland is my fatherland yet, thanks to our unique common history, Hungary feels like a very natural place for Poles to live and quickly accomodate abroad.

I have Hungarian friends and we've clicked instantly right from the day we've met. Before I 've started working abroad, travelling and meeting people from all over Europe I didn't know that traditional Polish-Hungarian friendship is so vibrant and alive and not only declarative and reserved for political occasions.

News / How Poland bought German Airline Condor and might lose massive from it [34]

@Weimarer, you're making a fool of yourself.

When LOT wanted to acquite Condor you said that it is going to be a bad deal for LOT. And now when LOT has resigned from acquisition you critize them for that decision too.

So which is it: either LOT made a good decision before with plans for acquisition of Condor or made a great decission now with cancelling the transaction?

Or maybe meanwhile your narrative has changed since then and Condor, that "loss generating company with obslete fleet", is a golden asset which will remain in German hands?

News / Poles say a big YES to our European Union [957]

Wait, did I understand well? All debts of EU are to be shared among member countries

No, it's not gong to happen. France would like to build "ever closer union" and Germany would also like to have more control over Europe but they don't want to pay Italian and Greek (and soon Spanish) debt.

So fortunatelly, south European debt is protecting us from a project of "European federation" even if some politicians wanted to pursue it.

Well, that and obviously V4 countries wouldn't allow for that either.

Life / What is Poland going to be like in the 2050s? [72]

A loose prediction about Poland in the future:

Once all the highways/high speed railways/general infrastructure are completed allowing a quick and easy acces to cities and airports and fiber optic internet layed down outside of city areas more and more people will move out of big cities to city outskirts and to the countryside where the quality of life is better in general.

Also during current events many will learn that they can work from home and would like to continue it even when the quarantine is over.

Because of things like the welfare state! Europeans were also dysfunctional

That's not true. XIX century was a pinnacle of European civilisation. The amount of scientific discoveries and inventions was just unthinkable. And the first industrial revolution was started in the UK even earlier than that. Europe started being dysfunctional in a wake of socialism: national socialism in Germany and international one in Russia.

intended as a p1sstake

All of that was and is a pisstake. Complety devoided of any value whatsoever. Created by deviants and also cherished by them :-)

Funny thing is that he is only known for that: an urinal with his name on it. That's his "legacy"

go spend time in Somalia or Haiti or Mauritania or Cambodia and get back to us.

Don't compare Europe and European people to a 3rd world countries. Everything is different about us: mentality, traditions, philosophy of life, work ethics, social relations, IQ

And yes, I've been to SE Asia so I could learn it myself

I'm still giggling at your choice of the 1917 Fountain

I've picked it as a bright example of pointlessness of a modern conceptual art. It was popular simply because of its shocking value back in the days and not because it deeply resonated on some deeper level with the mass audience.

Nowadays no one even pays attention to such performances and those kind of "artists", while still being popularised by some circles, are largely angry and bitter that a "common pleb" doesn't pay much attention to them and their creations.

Believe it or not I've met a few such a wannabe (f)artists in London ;-)

Economic predictions suggest the opposite

The history of Western civilisation and demographics suggests the opposite.

Something as passive as video games

What? Video games are anything but passive. Watching TV is passive, contemplating Mona Lisa is passive, listening to music is passive, listening to a teacher in a classroom is passive, reading newspaper is passive. Playing games, especially those with crafting system is anything but passive.

declining and aging population

Yes, that's the biggest challenge. The first step would be to eliminate welfare state so people would start relying on their families in life instead of the state.

@jon357, Remember that what we consider fine arts nowadays, like works of Shakespeare or tragedies written by Sophocles was popular with - and intended for - the masses. So the greatest works of art are something which resonated on some level with a wider audience.

That's completely oppose to modern conceptual art which says: "Here's pleb, this urinal is a great work of art which you would never understand. Now get on your knees and adore it so you can tell your friends that you're a refined person".

That hasn't happened; video games and other youth products aren't quite artistic output

There nothing more artistic than shaping new ideas into a working product and creating new virtual worlds which people would want to visit and experience. Video games are more immersive than any other form of art because they demand more involvement from a person. Just like the internet is more immersive than TV.

Only those who create can understand the power of creation. Most people are consumers who define themselves by the creations of a few.

It simply isn't of sufficient quality

Quality in art is subjective and depends on cultural background of a given society.

Sure, we can appeal to more universal values and sell those products globally - which already happens in gaming industry - yet there also should be an exclusive works of art which are only fully understood by the native society creating a strong sense of belonging to the same nation.

Tulia is liekd here, however has very limited export potential.

Not everything should be intended, or even compromised, for export. Some works are better off to be produced for a hermetic native audience who understand all the artistic references.

I don't watch TV shows but when it comes to films there were some great Polish movies made in recent years like Zimna Wojna [Cold War] or Kamerdyner [The Butler].

Popular music is dire everywhere in the world, even in the UK. Some old c*ap rehashed, remixed and served to masses by a handful of global studios. There are some gems out there but they are not being promoted so you have to search for them online. Internet saves the culture.

One of a notable exceptions when something good is also very popular is Tulia.

Why not try to beat Hollywood with English language movies or songs instead?

Video games, not movies, are the future of entertaiment industry. It is still growing and AAA games offer better profit margins than Hollywood films. Poland is the 5th largest game exporter in the world.
