For now it looks to me like shocking police incompetence. We'll see what Polish autopsy will show, but I don't know if it isn't too late - it's been 4 months already... :(

A shocking case of neglect by the London police?: 😳😢

A 19-year-old Sandra Nguyen from Warsaw who was studying architecture at the Kensington University was found dead on December 23 last year in the flat she was renting in West Kensington, London. She lived there with two male flatmates.

She was supposed to come to Poland for Christmas, but she never got there.

Her mother got worried because Sandra wasn't picking up the phone for a few days, which was unusual for her and so she asked the girl's neighbours to enter the flat. They found her dead lying on the couch in an unnatural position and with bruises on her face, forearms and legs.

The London police quickly decided that the girl died from natural causes even though her body wasn't checked for rape (no swabs were done, even though her mother asked for it) and semen was found on her clothes that were there at the flat (she had no boyfriend).

The London coroner stated that her heart stopped beating, but he didn't say why it stopped. Her mother said that Sandra danced for years and she had her heart checked every 6 months - everything was OK. According to toxicology tests there were no substances in the girl's blood that could cause her death.

The two male flatmates weren't even questioned by the police even though they claimed they left the flat before Sandra's death - and yet, the laptop found at the flat got plugged in 4 days later when Sandra was already dead for quite a while and allegedly there was noone at the flat.

The death scene wasn't secured and the flatmates were let in inside a day after Sandra's body was found.
The private detective hired by the mother said that it's possible there was a party at the flat - there were 5 glasses found there and the police didn't secure them, they didn't secure the DNA. The sheets with spots that could suggest that something happened there weren't secured either. The detective said that he got the material too late - it was already useless.

The London police officers didn't want to talk in front of the cameras. The flatmates didn't want to talk to Polish media either. The UK investigation was discontinued and so the mother asked in April this year the Polish prosecutor's office in Warsaw to start their own investigation.

On April 24 Sandra's body was transported to Poland and is being prepared for another autopsy.

I tried to find some info about this case in the British media, but all I found was this:

I've only read that women are more likely to report having some lesbian sexual experiences in their lives than men (17% vs 6%) and that they more often idenitify as bisexual than men (6% vs 2%):

If you mean physical attractiveness then I doubt that it's true. You'd have to prove it with statistical data, results of some reliable research which I doubt you have :)

If you mean "manly" behaviour and way of dressing then that's probably around half of lesbians. The other half is feminine. The same is with gay men - there are those who are manly and those who are "feminine". The feminine gays are also usually not viewed as attractive by heterosexual women - not in the sense of the physical look, but behaviour. So it's not just in case of lesbians.


I honestly do wonder if he really is that stupid or is he simply baiting people to draw their attention, so he could unload his internal crap on them. Either way - he's not right in the head and a waste of time.


Imagine how women must feel when we witness the behaviour and views of such individuals.

For very good homemade-like cakes (and good coffee too) you can visit another Kielce's cult café - "Cztery Pory Roku" :) They have their own confectionery in another part of the city and I'm guessing that's where they're getting their cakes from. They also have all kinds of desserts and ice cream (their pączki are not so great though, apparently ;)).

I've decided to "move" the discussion about "Wesoła Kafka" here from this thread:

I don't recall them having many cakes back then... 🤔 On the other hand, we were ordering mainly coffee there (we were just poor students xD), so I'm not sure... I do remember that on special occasions (like our birthdays) we would order cheesecake with ice cream and raspberry sauce and that was tasty :) Also, a hot apple pie with ice cream :) I think that cheesecake is still the speciality of that café and it's apparently still good (as is coffee).

"Wesoła Kafka" is a cult café in Kielce already these days, btw, and they've opened two other places - at Karczówka and in the botanical garden. The decor is nothing like in the original café at Wesoła street though.

Btw, as for the present decor of "Wesoła Kafka" I doubt that the intention of owners was to make it "for older people" :)) It's only stylised for "granny style" and I'm guessing that the target clientele are women, considering that in Poland women go to cafés more often than men. I think that this kind of decor is supposed to give you a feeling of cosiness, warmth, familiarity and privacy. You'd also probably think that the shabby chic style of decor is for older ladies, but in reality there are women of different ages that like this style :)

Btw, this was my and my friends' favourite café during our uni times - we would go there often, we even did our homework or some assignments there :) It looked "artsy" and we liked the vibe :) (the decor changed since my uni times though, obviously) - it's called "Wesoła Kafka" and it's still operating :):

I don't know, they look pretty normal to me... I mean, on the nicer side :), of course, but they're definitely not such high-end ones like in that first photo batch I posted. I picked those high end ones on purpose, of course, since you mentioned "something more special" :) There are all kinds of price options though, obviously - you can pick a less posh place that you can afford.


I don't know about Warsaw, but any café I've been to in Kielce had a waitress or waiter :) service (including non-posh ones). What does it matter anyway - if it has or doesn't have a waiting service?


Not really, I think it's a cultural thing (since you grew up in the US).

Some more thoughts about going out for a coffee on the first date in Poland...

I think a woman may be more likely to agree to a date than in case of being asked out for a drink because:

- it's safer for a woman: cafés are safe, cultural places and meetings there often take place during the day. People don't get drunk there and noone will put a date rape drug into whatever you're drinking in a café;

- since dates in a café often take place during the day and there doesn't have to be any alcohol involved there's zero expectation/pressure on the woman to have sex with you. So, a woman will be more likely to think that you're not interested only in sex;

- cafés are usually calmer than bars and defenitely more quiet than clubs, so you can have an actual conversation;

- cafés are usually a good choice if you want a romantic atmosphere (as opposed to a bar or a club);

- cafés are a great option for asking out more quiet people, introverts, romantic ladies, intellectual types. Someone who doesn't like going to bars and clubs will defenitely feel more comfortable in a café;

- café may be less "intimidating" than a restaurant for some women, because they're usually more used to going to cafés (when meeting their female friends, for example) and so she may be more relaxed thanks to this.

And from a guy's perspective:

- if you want to pay for her on the first date then cafés are obviously a cheaper option than a restaurant;

- if it turns out that going to a café for the first date is not "good enough" for her then it may mean that she's "high-maintenance" or more on the gold-digging side and so - you can dodge a bullet lol

Btw, in case it wasn't obvious enough yet - yes, I'm a café person :)))

Sorry, cms neuf, I'm only laughing, because I thought you live in Poland... Have you ever been in a café in Poland? There are plenty of nice cafés (and you can sit there like in a restaurant :P), you can also order alcohol beverages if you want there and order some food, like cakes, desserts, etc.


That's a bit more "serious", imho. Asking someone out for a coffee is similar to asking out for a drink - it's more casual. Lunch is longer, so if the date isn't going too well, you have to suffer for a longer period of time xD In case of just going for a coffee - I guess it's good for a first time and testing the waters if someone likes you or not... It's not too long and if you order something to eat you can take it as long as you want anyway, so you'll have enough time to talk.

I haven't observed or experienced this "fact" during my education.
I was always one of the best students - at primary school, at secondary school, at high school and at the university and even at private art classes and at private English classes.

And yet - I have the same views as Lenka.
Also, Lenka is intelligent and logical, so I personally doubt that she was a bad student.


How is the potential of smart kids being "artificially limited"? Smart or gifted kids simply do more - and that's often encouraged by the teacher. My art teacher at secondary school could see that I could draw and so she talked me into joing her free extra art classes after school. She inspired me to go to art school.

My Polish teacher at high school wanted to make me take part in the so called olimpiada.
As for English - I decided to take private English classes at high school on my own, because I liked English and wanted to be better at it. This didn't end there though - I was also consciously watching news, films and TV series and reading books in English, because I knew that will help me improve my English (and because I simply enjoyed it).


Exactly. So there's "selection" taking place later on. Everybody knew what were the best schools in my city and all the smart kids wanted to get in. I'd be trying to get in one of them too if it wasn't for the fact that I chose an art school (to my Polish teacher's great disappointment lol :)).

And, of course, there were entrance exams for my art school - from art subjects. There was drawing and painting exam, sculpture exam (I had to take private classes before that, because I never did any sculpting) and history of art exam (and, again, I took private lessons with a former teacher from that art school to increase my chances). Besides the entrance exams they were also looking at your previous academic results. The best results from both exams and previous academic results would land you where I personally wanted to be - at "painting and gilding" specialization. So, you can imagine how beyond happy I was when I got in :)))
