Life / The climate for gardening in Poland [340]

Days which usually fall in mid May with frosty temps at night weren`t so severe this year.

They were here but didn't seem to hurt the apples but they sure did the cherries.

@Pawian
How is Poland's apple crop looking so far this year ?
Here in Michigan the trees are covered with blossoms like none other.
The hummingbirds are loving it.
Looks like a bumper crop on the way which is good because apple prices are very high right now.
Tell me what you are seeing in Poland.

History / What do Poles owe to Jews? [593]

Roman Polanski, belong to some of Poland's greatest post-War directors!

Absolutely !
Who remembers Roman Polanski and Sharon Tate ?
Polanski allegedly forced Tate to have threesomes and film adult tapes so he could share with friends.

Law / Polish Police and Their Tactics [237]

I have never heard of stop sticks.

Stop spikes are used frequently in the U.S. to stop fleeing vehicles.
The cops carry a roll of them in their cars and just roll them out in seconds.
Here is a video how they work.
Go to one minute into the video to see how they work on a fleeing vehicle.

bing.com/videos/search?q=stop+spikes&&view=detail&mid=F171298D0311A587B9C2F171298D0311A587B9C2&&FORM=VRDGAR&ru=%2Fvideos%2Fsearch%3Fq%3Dstop%2Bspikes%26%26FORM%3DVDVVXX

Life / Litter in Poland [24]

Does Poland have free recycle bins available ?

These bins are taken to a recycling center and dumped onto big conveyor belts which run the refuge under a big magnet that separates all the metal from the rest of it.

(You can google this operation)
It then continues down the belt where all the glass is automatically separated and continues down the belt where all the plastic is plucked out, cardboard and paper, and so on.

It quite an operation.
All this is recycled into reusable raw materials cutting down on pollution.
Now my question again is, "Does Poland have such recycling plants for the Polish people to take their refuge to for free ?"
This is what helped huge to stop illegal dumping's on public and private lands here in the U.S.A.
Also it is illegal to burn plastic or treated wood in the U.S. even if it is on your own land.
Serious On-Topic responses welcomed.

Law / Polish Police and Their Tactics [237]

Actually, they wanted to stop a driver who had a ban.

In the U.S. they would have just rolled out their stop sticks and punctured all the guys tires.
Then turn a dog loose on them if they run.
They only shoot people that are a threat to them.
Threaten to run over a cop with a vehicle and they will shoot you.
Point a gun at a cop and they will shoot you.
I am surprised there are not more Polish police killed for being nice guys.

Life / Litter in Poland [24]

If your not, then how does litter in Poland compare to your country?

Throw an empty cigarette pack out your car window going down the road = $100 fine (380 PLN)
Throw a bag of trash out along the road or in a park or rest area = $500 fine (1900PLN)
Make a mess like the above picture and it will cost you $1000 fine (3800PLN) plus clean up costs.
And if can't pay you sit in jail for 30 to 90 days or until someone pays your fine for you.
Throw your garbage in a private dumpsters like a restaurants = $500 fine even if it is a small bag.
They have free recycle bins for glass, tin cans plastic, and paper everywhere so there is no excuse.
Does Poland have free recycle bins available ?

Law / Polish Police and Their Tactics [237]

Watch the plainclothes police shooting at the tyres, instead of the rogue driver who had a driving ban.

That idiot would have been shot dead anyplace in the United States for trying to run over and kill a cop.
There would not even have been a trial unless he was Black.

Law / Polish Police and Their Tactics [237]

So you are talking search and seizure of evidence ?
In the U.S. the cops are "suppose to have" probable cause to do a search.
That's why in my younger years when I was a bit wild like you and the cops pulled me over and wanted to search my truck, for anything they could bust me on to create a State manufactured crime, my first question to them was, "What is your probable cause" which ended that search right then and there.

It would be interesting to know what authority the Polish police have to search you, your vehicle or your home without a search warrant signed by a judge.

News / Years of Poland in the EU - assessment of pros and cons [1199]

Did you hear that the EU decided to sue Polish government for constraining independent judges.

Yup, and they were going to sue Poland for refusing to change the zloty to the Euro and they were going to sue Poland for refusing to take in immigrants and they are now going to sue Poland for being run by Poland instead of the E.U.

Poland is very blessed to have PiS leaders running Poland instead of some puppets bowing to the opposition Socialists.

Considering that you can be arrested

Where ? Poland or the U.S.A. are you referring to ?

they are strong only when they counter adolescents

They do like to intimidate adolescents with their power trips in the U.S. but I don't know about Poland.
Help me out here.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

Why do you guys find it so hard to stay On-Topic ?

Undocumented and unrebutted chats are called gossips.

What makes you think such chats are not documented ?
Even innocent chats with your family physician are carefully documented, especially if you have any signs of being depressed.
And any gun owner who has a concealed and carry permit has agreed to let the police have access to both your mental and physical health records.

This is why I always request my doctors notes about two weeks after every visit to him to make sure that I have not been misunderstood when I share very limited information about my personal life.

Even aggressive posts on a forum like this may be documented.
Credible gossip doesn't need to be rebutted for the police to use against you.
Taking this all into consideration I can see Poland's gun laws being relaxed on gun ownership for law abiding citizens.

Law / Polish Police and Their Tactics [237]

The US Supreme court ruled that it's legal.

When did they do that ?

Why would Polish cops not use the same technique?

Because jon said that the Polish police are trained to defuse the situation and not escalate it.

Law / Polish Police and Their Tactics [237]

It doesn't work like that.

I am surprised you don't know how it works here for as long as you have been a member..

Which is why training is so important,

Did you miss this ?

Where I come from the police do just the opposite and are trained to, provoke, intimidate, threaten and harass to create a State manufactured crime.

The cops here are trained how to lie, how to ask you incriminating questions, how to write a twisted police report to convict you and how to provoke you.

I know this for a fact because I took a college class in criminal justice and that is some of what was taught.
This class is required for wanna be cops.
And no, I took the class for other reasons then being a cop.
(self preservation)
I'm sure the Polish police are not trained in this manner.

Law / Polish Police and Their Tactics [237]

It's not up to you...

Of course it is as it is, jon, it's my thread, you are just a guest in it.

They are however trained to diffuse a situation wherever possible, and this is something they are generally good at.

I have never understood this as you Europeans have taught me something new.
Where I come from the police do just the opposite and are trained to insult, provoke, intimidate, threaten and harass you to create a State manufactured crime.

A broken taillight can turn into a felonious resisting and obstructing assault crime very quickly if you don't let them intimidate you.
That is why I started this thread is to understand about the Polish police tactics that are to de-escalate instead of using their authority to bully you into a crime.

And yes, they are trained to do this.

And they know even if you beat the charge in court it costs you at least $5,000 for a good attorney so you still lose.
Such different tactics I must say which explains why so many people end up dead like Floyd did over a f-ing fake $20 bill.
I truly do appreciate the literate posts here explaining the Polish police tactics in making arrests.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

where will the chief derive his opinion???

I think they call it Interpol.
Police in every country in the world have access to it to know who is who which includes your arrest records.
Have you ever requested your personal file of records the F.B.I. has on you and every other American ?
You would sht your pants to see what they have gathered about you including your DNA.
And since you have flown internationally they even have your eye retina scan.
The Polish police have access to these records as well.
You can run but you can't hide as Sir Trump said.

Law / Polish Police and Their Tactics [237]

Rich makes a very good point.

Because most of the time you don't have to kill to subdue.

Again this goes to different countries standards of the law.
A good example is Jamaica where the gun laws are like Poland's except the consequences are often fatal.
If the police catch you with a gun there is about a 50/50 chance that they will just shoot you dead if they have had a run in with them prior.

If the military catches you with a gun they will shoot and kill you regardless.
I can't imagine how that would go over say in Chicago or Poland.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

And by legit I mean a person with no criminal record.

To be more specific, "No assaultive" criminal record only.

That Police Chief is not about having criminal record

Better yet, if a Police Chief knows that someone who say has a known aggressive behavior, regardless of having a criminal record, should be denied.

Those stipulations are excellent Lenka.
Thank you again.
If America was as stringent as Poland to obtain a firearm, I am sure we wouldn't have mass shootings since all our mass shootings have been done by mentally ill people.

Hats off to Poland in that respect.

Law / Polish Police and Their Tactics [237]

American cop will shoot to kill, Polish not.

That is because rather then house scum at $40,000 a year in a prison for the next twenty years ($800,000) and possibly face a lawsuit that ties the court system up for years $$$$ it is just more of a economically choice to kill them in America which most people agree to.

The thread topic is about Polish police tactics though, not America's.

the trust level dropped dramatically

This is because of the Politically Correct Socialist take over that says it's a crime for the parents to spank their child and the kid grows up having no respect for authority and totally out of control which makes the police having to change their tactics.

The people have screwed themselves with the trust the police worked so hard to establish.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

Yes, I checked out iglica.waw.pl/ and as all good gun ranges it looked like safety first.
It's great that Poland offers sport shooting, gun safety and familiarizing people with different weapons and ammo.

now I have to make an appointment and usually all lanes are full

Yes, I see that it is a fast growing sport in Poland.
And with 72 gun manufactures in Poland to lobby for gun ownership Poland should soon be a top competitor in the Olympics as more youth being encouraged to get involved in the sport.

65% wouldn't want to own a gun

Then that is their personal right and they shouldn't.
Those percentages are changing quickly however for those law abiding citizens that do.
