Poles that live in the Chicago that come here as tourist on vacation are always impressed with the food and atmosphere of true Polish culture.

The weekend after Labor Day Lyzko !

We have the most Polish Festivals in the USA

Since Northern Michigan is heavily populated with Polish ancestry, we have lots of Polish Festivals.
The next one is September 10th - 11th - 12th.
The Pozen Potato Festival where the population of Pozen is the fifth highest percentage of Polish ancestry population in the United States.
Chicago isn't even in the top 100 in that category.

The Posen Potato Festival has been an annual event for over 50 years.

Where I live in a very Polish populated area there are no shootings.
In fact they had a huge Polish Festival this week end just north of where I live.

That certainly holds true with all my Polish relatives back then.
When the boys of their Polish families turned 14 years old their Polish parents encouraged them to quit school after the 8th grade and get a job to support themselves.

Most of these kids worked 60 plus hours a week doing 'go nowhere jobs' breaking their backs.
I think we can conclude that the 'timeout generation' of today didn't produce as good of citizens as the 'ass beating' generation did.

Another trick of the trade for canning pickles.
If you want to make your pickles crunchy, add 1/8th of a teaspoon of 'Alum' to each jar while canning them.
Alum (potassium aluminum sulfate) is a safe food additive that is ideal for pickling and canning.
It helps create crisp pickled fruits or vegetables.
My personal favorite sweet pickles have quite a different recipe which contain: Sliced cucumbers, sugar, vinegar, water, sliced jalapenos, red peppers flakes, alum, turmeric, few peppercorn and salt.

This is why I don't buy canned vegetables and have switched to frozen or can my own.
