News / Will PiS be happy if AfD wins elections in Germany? [1303]

Often times though, the sins of the parents or the fathers in this case, are visited upon the children, unfair
as this may be.

I remind you of a once well-known publication from the late '60's or perhaps somewhat later, "Papa, hast du's getan? - Taeterkinder sprechen" (Is this what you did, papa? - Perpetrators' children speak out). Although by then the War had already been over for practically thirty years, the deep, indeed, barely healed, scars of the Hitler years, in particular the Holocaust, remained open wounds, as well as a source of bruising shame, in particular, for German nationals abroad!!

News / Will Poland help defend Greenland against US Imperialism [333]

Ahemm, come off it, B.B!
The man is the average scion of an above average father, who was a former member of the KKK on Long Island where he grew up, made most of his
money via investments, much as Trump's grandfather "Drumpf", when the latter came over to America during the 19th century and struck it rich during the
Gold Rush.

These men didn't pursue professions as you or I (hardly couch potatoes, by the way), but became wealthy by dint of sheer cleverness rather than hard work alone.
How can one have any respect for a man who punched out his high school music teacher and never saw a day of detention, 'cuz the school principal couldn't really
touch the kid, as his old man was mega-rich Freddie Boy Trump, real estate mogul par excellence?

Well, finally that woman won her lawsuit before Fred died and received her money as an African-American who was denied housing in a Trump-owned apartment bldg.
Good for her!

Trump's either crazy or possibly senile, one or the other!
Every other day or so, our President-elect comes out with another
odd ball notion...and nobody seems to stop him.

See how far Mafia connections and coming from a rich father can get you?

Language / Cultural disparities shown through Polish and English languages [195]

When posting in either Polish or even Swedish, Italian, any language I learned after my mother tongue(s) etc., I never ever rely on
machine translation, but instead attempt to think and then write in the language I intend
to post, mistakes and all!!

Anybody can dash off a perfect e-mail using GoogleTranslate. This of course is cheating. How often have I received e-mails in 100% native speaker English
from foreigners, only to finally meet them in person (not on Zoom) and notice the cavernous differences between how they "write" vs. how they
actually speakLOL

Incidentally, Ironside, I sent you a private message several weeks ago.

Life / Why women's rights are not respected here in Poland? [160]

I recall seeing a photograph of a billboard in the Polish news magazine "Wprost", I believe, several years back,
to the effect that women in Poland still feel helpless if their husband comes home drunk and
becomes physically abusive!

History / Can anyone from Poland tell me about Auschwitz and The Ghetto? [625]

@Barney, it seems as though Netanyahu is going to lose his shirt over this.
Genocide though implies an ideological agenda rooted in constitutional or government
laws enacted in order to effect such an action, as for example in Nazi Germany with
the Nueremberg Laws.

Israel has no such laws on the books, her actions however despicable under peace time
circumstances, are solely predicated on the actions of the the Palestinians and their initial strike!

History / Poland must get back Lwow, Wilno and Brest back [345]

Lwow was once known as Lemberg during the height of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
By the logic of the current thread, oughtn't Lwow then be returned to Austria??
lol

News / Will PiS be happy if AfD wins elections in Germany? [1303]

In the light of that most recent attack in Magdeburg just prior to the Christmas Season,
there are sadly more and more public calls for deportation of refugees within Germany!

The new chancellor certainly has plenty to contend with.

History / Can anyone from Poland tell me about Auschwitz and The Ghetto? [625]

Pawian, once again you're letting ahistorical analogy cloud your judgement!

The Nazis were wreaking havoc on a people, namely the Poles simply for being Slavs,
whom they deemed "inferior". The Israelis are merely retaliating for attacks on them
by the Palestinians who intrinsically want to destroy Israel based on nebulous reasons
of some historic primogeniture.

Right-thinking Israeli Jews seek no such intrinsic revenge on their Arab neighbors. However,
even the most pacific human being will fight back, if necessary kill as an act of self-preservation,
if they, their family, their home is attacked. This is sheer animal instinct no matter how religious or
spiritual a person may be.

Once again, "Israeli Nazis" is a vile misnomer, pawian, I'm surpised at you, man!
Israel was attacked by the Palestinians first, for whatever reason, Israel was the
butt of a rival's vicious onslaught, and needed any expedient within reason in order
to fight back, just as with any other nation on earth who has been forced into submission.

The will to survive remains the strongest of all human emotions, don't forget.

People like to irresponsibly label others as "Nazis", "Faschists" etc.as a knee-jerk, pseudo-liberal
response to anything they dislike! Say some high schoolers find their homeroom teacher too strict.
"Ahh, Mr.________'s such a fxxxxxxg Faschist... he doesn't like to give us recess!!" etc, ad nauseum.

Israelis are no more Faschist or Nazi than you or I.

Only those Holocaust survivors who experience true dictatorship are entitled to apply such epithets,
NOT anybody else!

Comparing Israel under Netanyahu with Nazism is downright sick, misguided, indicating
a complete and utter disregard for historical truth!

German anti-Jewish resentment and slow-burn, violent hatred of same, stoked above all by
Hitler. represented a centuries' long, indeed festering, animosity towards a single group within
a society, deemed "different", therefore weaker, by the majority host culture in whose midst the
Jews were living for hundreds of years before the Enlightenment.

The situation between Jews and Palestinian Arabs of the Muslim faith is one of singular denial
of their Jewish neighbors, the intent of whom, is stated as "to drive Israel into the sea".

The Israeli Jews have no other option than to defend themselves.
Had Germany's sizable Jewish population during the Third Reich been even more integrated
into German society, hence, with the effective use of firearms, hand-to-hand combat beyond merely
that of conscripted service in the First World War, Germany's Jewish citizens would have been able
to fight back tooth and nail, applying all the modern weaponry at their disposal.

As this was not the case, Germany's Jewish population appeared to the Nazis to lack the force of strength, an
attribute considered more important than any other.

Study / Opinions on best Universities in Poland for BioChemistry for foreign students [6]

@Caroline,
If your daughter intends to study in Poland without even a basic knowledge of the
language, do make certain that her professor(s) speak(s) English as a native language, if
you possibly can!

I studied English Lit. for one semester in college here in the States with a visiting prof. from Italy
and, albeit without knowing a word of Italian at the time, found his lectures rather difficult to
understand because of his decided Italian accent, not to mention occasionally mangled
syntax. He of course blamed any misunderstandings on us, his students, rather than on his
less than perfect English.

Just imagine were my native language one other than English, studying in a second language
with a professor whose language of instruction wasn't my mother tongue either.
