News / Do Poles in Poland really feel betrayed because there won't be any US Shield? [288]

They didn't really want it anyway, Sledz. The fear was being caught in the middle of a scuffle between the US and Russia. The Shield was a bad idea for the region. I think it's better to put it on hold, maybe indefinitely, but, at the very least, until more people are open to the idea. Why go ahead and put it in place when so many are against it? It would just cause a lot of tension.

My point is, the Poles wouldn't have the most illegal immigration anyway. Stop discriminating against the Poles and give them Visas. It's only fair. Everybody else gets them. The only problem I have is with the muslims getting them. Everyone who wants to come to the US should be allowed a Visa so long as they are not criminals, have a contagious disease or muslims but everyone else should be welcome and allowed to have a visa.

I agree with what most say about the Visa issue. There is no reason to deny Visas to Poles.

But for us to lift visa restrictions on a counrty with a long history of its citizens not returning home and living here Illegally is ridiculous.

That isn't a good reason to have a visa restriction in place. There are so many people from other countries here, it doesn't really matter who they let in so long as it isn't the muslims. Keep the muslims out, anyone else should be able to get a visa. Most of the illegals are Mexican, anyway.

As for the shield, it doesn't seem like people wanted one and since it was unpopular in the first place and is now scrapped, people should be happy they don't have to have one now.

USA, Canada / Cigarettes reach nine dollars a pack in New York [109]

Wont happen, too much money if fast food and junk food...

I hope it happens because they can use the tax to prop up health insurance and not raise taxes on the middle class who will have hissy fits over it. They would have fits anyway tho after having to give up cigarettes and now junk food on top of that but they would be better off.

In theory... . I would love to see all those lobbyists of the food industry scream if someone would try..

Yes that's unfortunately true. The manufactures of chob (processed cheese product resembling a blob) want everyone to buy their product so they use their advertising to brainwash people into believing they crave the food and can't live without it. They call macaroni and cheese "comfort food" even tho it's a lie. I am way happier with a sliced peach or a nice Romain salad with a white wine vinegarette dressing.

You can tax junk food easily. Twinkies, Lil Debbie, Hostess, the candy aisle, and all the chips and soft drinks on the soda pop aisle. If they taxed the foods with very little nutritional value they would make a lot of money and could prop up the health industry and social security with it. Make the truly nutritional foods cheaper and tax the stuff that makes people sick and fat.

well, i can't wait for the fat tax

I fully support the fat tax. Make the veggies and fruits cheap and the junk food prices sky high and you got healthier people.

*cough* *cough* smoking is such a bad habit. It stinks and it's gross just like smoke from marijuana. All of that stuff is gross and everyone should tear their cigarettes in half and chuck them into the toilet.

Travel / Castles and Palaces in Poland (with pictures) [155]

It's clear why the Poles want the castle to be called Malbork instead of Marienburg, being a symbol of Teutonic expansion and aggession. Calling it Malbork is like saying, "we won after all".

Genealogy / Mongolian the Golden Horde - do Poles have Mongolian ancestry? [256]

You could see the same in the United States. It's a white majority but there are bi-racial blacks there as well.

It's a myth that different races who live together and invade one another do not create offspring. It always happens. Look at all the bi-racial people over here. We aren't the only ones, either. It was just recently that military personnel were forbidden from creating bi-racial kids in countries they invaded.

Language / IS "MURZYN" word RACIST? [686]

Go up to a black man and say 'Hello negro' then :) Go on, I dare ya.

I would never do it. I never refer to people by their race. It's a bad idea.

BB look at the majority of Africans...sure some created outstanding civilizations but most have not. They still live like they did thousands of years ago.

African tribes have been around a long time, no?

Compare Africa to Europe. It's not the same. The Africans, except for Egyptians and similar civilizations, if there were any, weren't as ambitious.

It's not the same, ShawnH. Europe is worthy of admiration for preserving so many homogenous groups for so long a period so that each one's language and culture reached such heights of sophistication and distinction. Truly phenomenal when compared to the rest of the world.

But what about language and culture, Seanus. No one can deny that Europe and Asia have the monopoly on those. Europe, especially, has so many different languages.

Where else are you going to go in the world to experience that many so close together? You go to the US, Mexico or Canada, you are going to hear mostly English, French and Spanish. You go to South America, you hear Spanish and some Portugese. Europe is truly unique in this regard.

Right now they do...but who knows for how long. Doesn't this type of thing bring out the radicalism in homogenous populations?

ShawnH: there has to be a history of homogenity or else culture and language are not going to reach the heights of sophistication they do in places like Europe and Asia. There are outside influences but a strong cohesion, also.

Homogeny plays a strong role in the development of language and culture.

PP, there are terrorist cells in many of those countries you have listed.

Maybe so but Europe is a homogenous place otherwise you wouldn't have the cultures and languages you have. It's not a big melting pot like certain countries. Europe has many examples of homogenity, that's all.

Seriously, are there any left?

Quite a few in Europe. Let's see, there's the Polish, the French, the British, the German, the Italians, the Spanish...the Irish, the Swiss, the Portugese, the Luxemborgese, the Welch, the Scottish, the Romanians, the Swedes, the Dutch, the Finns, the Basques. This is all very general...I am sure they get even more homogenized than that when you start breaking them down into their tribes, clans and subgroups.

Radical Islam should not be allowed to be built up due to the disastrous policies of Western governments.

If it is allowed it's going to encourage radical elements in the homogenous populations across Europe.

That's a good point Seanus. There's people who talk like that everywhere. They leave obnoxious comments whenever they see articles or stories on racism or homosexuality. It happens all over. I am sure Poland is no different.

Love / Polish women are the most beautiful in the world! [1718]

So, why the lack of success, ambition and drive?

I guess it was a mistake to bring jobs and careers into it. Maybe they don't want jobs and careers? My point is, it's better to be beautiful than ugly.

It might be a BS thread but the guy who made it might have seen plenty of beautiful Polish women so why not say "yeah being beautiful and getting complimented and having people say your country has the most beautiful women is not a bad thing".

Beauty is somewhat in the eye of the beholder but there is a general beauty/ugly line and you are on one side or the other with most people.

Seanus you are ignoring the title of this thread "Polish Women Are The Most Beautiful In The World!" What does that suggest to you? It means whoever made this thread likes beautiful women. It's not called "Polish Women Have The Most Family Connections In The World"

Okay, Seanus, there are exceptions to the rule. Seanus are you saying there are no rich, good looking people in Poland? Good looking people can have lousy jobs, true. They can be in debt.

Maybe there's misunderstanding. My premise is that being good looking or beautiful isn't a hindrance to success, it can help one succeed. It doesn't mean every good looking/beautiful person is going to be wealthy. Life is easier for people who are good looking, generally.

And as for the blond bimbo theory...there's a study that says good looking people are more successful, generally. There's also a study that says taller people have more success too.
