Sinn Fein are well ahead in the polls, they topped the polls in the last general election but failed to stand enough candidates, their lead has been consistent for years it wasn't a protest vote. In a multi seat PR election they probably will be the largest party possibly having enough TDs to govern without coalition.

The documented corruption of FF and FG though not on a Mexican level is still proportional to the size and location of the country.

The impact on Poland will revolve around how they use their EU veto to achieve unity. The EU had Irelands back over Brexit and everyone saw that clearly.

As far as the EU is concerned Brexit is done, the withdrawal deal and free trade agreement was negotiated, ratified by the British parliament and the EU. it may be altered but not scrapped otherwise there is a very real possibility there would be a trade war. That could impact Poland for the very short period before the UK folds.

With success in the north comes success in the 26 counties. The same party in government in both parts of the island is very worrying for the corrupt right wing duopoly that have basically run the place (26 counties) since independence. Ireland is a small country so the impact a Sinn Fein government will have on the EU will be minimal except when it comes to reunifying the country. Sinn Fein will do everything to encourage the EU to support their position.

Yes my friend works for Sanepid and hates it especially after they were all transferred to Covid tracing. They are understaffed and several people in her office have contracted covid. Edit: not as a direct consequence of her work.

Travel from Britain to The Irish Republic is currently severely restricted due to the new variant, the only sure way to get to Dublin Airport is to travel from Britain to Belfast ( by plane) then cross the border on your way to Dublin Airport. Direct travel to Dublin Airport shouldn't be a problem however it's unethical and you probably will be turned back at the Polish airport (especially if you don't have an EU passport) at your own expense.

You need to spray spuds to prevent blight the disease is airborne and will thrive in the right weather conditions. Warnings will be issued by various organisations in Poland, you can sign up for email alerts. The correct weather conditions for blight are a warm and humid atmosphere. The best organic compounds preventing blight are copper based, dithane is used commercially. I use Bordeaux mix which is a copper based powder you mix with water and spray directly onto the plant leaves. It's major disadvantage is that it's washed off by rain and a second spray is required. Some years you don't have to spray.

Rotating crops is to prevent soil based problems for example growing spuds in the same place year after year encourages pests like eel worm to flourish. Brassicas like cabbage, sprouts, cauliflower etc should be planted in the potato patch the following year not the other way round. Earthing up spuds encourages more tubers as they come from the side shoots of the roots and protect the plant from late frosts. Spuds are easy, when earthing up which you do about two or three times a season you can kill the weeds by cutting their roots and turning them into the soil where they will die.

Tomatoes are the same plant family and also suffer from blight, you treat them for blight the same way you do spuds. I don't think Blight is as big a problem in Poland as it is in Ireland. Get your spuds into the ground as soon as you can in case you can't visit due to the election queues and let nature take its course.
