Two amazing posts that just show how well Polish popular music is progressing.
Not sure that I can improve on your excellent posts.
But I will try my best shots....

There are so many superb Polish Rock bands but they need to release seperate albums.... one in Polish and one in English....
youtu.be/dBQTeVWfQ6M

My last post on here tonight.
Yeah, there are some superb Polish Rock bands out there, but to survive and make a living, they really need to sing in English.....

Travel / Poland in photo riddles - part 2 [1680]

@Paulina

They all have the names of their cities on their shirts.

Are they about to compete in a game as teams?

Tug of war maybe?

No...

OK.
I didn't know that but it is MAINLY Polish and only celebrated in parts of those other countries.
Are they perhaps regions that were formerly part of Poland?

Life / Do Polish people have a good ear for music? [90]

so its either reluctance to sing in English, lack of good promotion and development of music business or both.

I think you are spot on here.
I am struggling to think of Polish Rock bands that have sung in English, which is the key to international success, I know Wilki have done some, but not many and a few of the Prog Rock bands.

History / BEATS OF FREEDOM - A HISTORY OF POLISH ROCK MUSIC [108]

I promoted gigs in London in the early eighties and Punk Rock was nothing but trouble.
Them and Reggae gigs.
It is part of the reason that Hard Rock came back, because the punters did not cause trouble and drank beer.
Unlike the Punks and Rastas who caused trouble and took drugs....
Pubs banned the Punks and Rastas and started booking proper Rock bands.

Yes, playing concerts behind the Iron Curtain hugely contributed to groups` popularity in Poland.

This also benefited the Welsh band Budgie.
They were fairly well known in the UK but not massive, whereas they were pretty big in Poland.

Leon Trotsky's real name is Michael Bronstien, from the Bronx, NY. He is not even Russian!

You are nuts.........Leon Trotsky's real name was Lev Bronstein and he was Russian...... sheesh!!

The sin of circumcision cannot be undone.

In Europe it is mainly just Jews and Muslims that are circumcised.
But I have read that in America it is widespread.
As you are in America perhaps you can confirm or deny this.

Talk of The Stranglers and I could not resist.....
The Stranglers - "No more Heroes".

youtu.be/2tfy8f9lDD0

This was a well done cover too, The Stranglers - "Walk on by".

I will end with this controversial one......
If you don't know this song, you might think that it is racist, when exactly the opposite is true.
For non Brits, W#g comes from Golliwog and is an insulting term for black people, a bit like N####r.
This is The Stranglers - "I feel like a W#g".

In the late seventies and early eighties I ran one of London's major Pirate radio stations.
Here are two songs we played a lot.
This one is apt, because London hit 38 degrees last week and we are expecting at least 37 degrees this weekend.
The Tom Robinson Band - "Long hot summer".

youtu.be/mJcRTNDcKG4

We also used to play this a lot.
This is obviously a left wing p#$$ take of right wing thinking.
But it failed miserably and so we played it anyway!
Another Punk era band that were not a Punk Rock band.

The Tom Robinson Band - "Power in the Darkness"

So you must haver prefered punk rock

No.
I was never a great fan of Punk.
The Stranglers were my favourite but like many bands at that time they were not really a Punk band, they just rode that wave.
I preferered Hard Rock, Metal and Electric Blues.

You like being unruly from time to time, don`t you?

You are not wrong there.
I have always been a rebel....., you don't know the half of it :-)

Anyway, we call ourselves Anglo Poles and are we prone to be rebels?
I think we are.

Better cassettes than nothing, right? :):)

This is true and if you missed a radio show the chances were that you could pick up a pirate tape at the local market at the weekend :-)

cos the Polish Radio illegally presented all latest albums so people could easily record them onto cassette

I was very well aware of tbis at the time.
But whilst you had to record albums off the radio on cassettes, I could buy the albums on vinyl.... it felt disgusting at the time....

I was also heavily influenced by Metallica - their first album Kill `Em All 1983 was utter revelation to me

Same with me, when I first put it on the turntable I had to check that I hadn't mistakenly put it on at 45rpm LOL!!

@Poloniusz

So, from your posts we have established two things.

1.You hate Jews.
2. You think they were were the major cause of some, if not all of Polands problems.

For some reason, the last time I attacked you for those sort of opinions, the PF mods gave me a warning and a short ban.

Not sure that you got rhe same treatment though.....
All anti semites are either Fascists, Communists or Islamic extremists.....which of them are you?

@pawian
Like you as I was growing up Electric Blues,Hard Rock and later Heavy Metal was the music that I loved.
TSA were a great Polish Hard Rock band and your posts were fascinating... you may be surprised by this, but I prefered the Polish version, simply because the Englush version made them sound the same as all the NWOBHM bands that were about at the time.

The Polish version, for me, gave them the edge.
