Love / Do Polish Women age well? [153]

Polish women know the benefits of a good moisturizer, that's why they age better than most.

Work / English teaching books in Poland: villains and heroes [30]

It's a hillarious "Practical guide to surviving the perils and pitfalls of teaching English abroad". It shows how to tell a bad schools from the good ones, how to interview, useful tips on preparing lessons, pros and cons of different countries, etc etc, all in no holds barred, f-bomb sprinkled narrative. Highly recommended!

here is the ending of a chapter on interviewing:
"Last but not least, try to show that you have a sense of humor; that's godawful important in this game. How to do that? Well, **** if I know. If your very presence in an English school job interview doesn't already show that you don't take life too seriously, I don't know what will."

Life / Do you think that Polish people are rude? [951]

and answer a question.

You really don't get it, do you? Obviously, your idea about what's rude is very different from mine. Your approach at conversation will only invite those that want to fight. Not me. Not today.

Life / Polish home remedies for cold, stomach ache, migraine? [49]

what are these disturbing facts

she does not know which particular kind she grows, and I've come across youtube videos of people getting seriously wacked on the psychoactive one, salvia divinorum.

Life / Polish home remedies for cold, stomach ache, migraine? [49]

I've been curious about the melatonin. I've got to look it up.
My mother also swears by szaƂwia tea for sore throat. She grows her own. But when I looked it up, salvia, I found some disturbing facts...

Life / Do you think that Polish people are rude? [951]

New York is #1 in politeness? I find that hard to believe. For example, when on subway, it is not advisable to look strangers in the eye. People just do not look at each other. That's a bit skewed way of being polite.

Love / Are Polish mothers-in-law monsters? [91]

how to be honestly involved in my life without being patronizing just because he is my father.

that is hard to do. Parents and children develop emotional buttons that might be all but invisible to the outsiders.
My father was very controlling, and even tho I swore to myself that I won't do that, I'm accused of it constantly. It's very difficult to stop being a parent. Not to give advice when you know of a way of doing something better/easier/smarter, because there's no way left to disquse what you're trying to do.

Life / 3 reasons why you hate Poland. [1049]

All she said was true and a bunch of fools attacked her. That looks bad.
And it seems that you have some growing up to do: calling somebody a moron or a half wit because he didn't like his pirogis served with oil. Get a grip.

Life / 3 reasons why you hate Poland. [1049]

Have you ever watch your mom cook pierogi?

After they are boiled, I saute them in butter and onions. I can see restaurants cutting corners and using oil, though, and that's a shame.

I still think it's better to prepare any potential guests for what they might not like in Poland, just so you don't have to hear any beaching about it later. Make sure they know about the sour pusses, so they don't thing it's them making people unhappy.

What makes Poland look bad is the people here that think they fiercely defend it, like, for example, this thread? It ended with poster being called a homo. That's embarrassing.

History / Whom do the people in Poland hate more: Germans or Russians? [869]

Doesn't make it true

Of course it doesn't. I just meant that my father is so consumed with Jews that it does not leave much room for hatred of Russians or Germans.

Which brings up another point some keep harping at, about being responsible for the the sins of our fathers. Got to stop that.

History / Whom do the people in Poland hate more: Germans or Russians? [869]

I don't know about hate, but I think my personality, especially the self-destructive streak, is closer to Russian. Most Germans I know are way too controlled for my taste.

My mother does not like both equally, all related to WWII and aftermath. With my father it's hard to tell, he has lovely paintings of Russian countryside on his walls and he also admires German precision manufacturing. He is convinced that Jews are the root of all evil, though.

USA, Canada / How many Polish citizens left Chicagoland in the past three years? [33]

I understand what he means, and I don't want to get personal here, but passport, lineage, living in Poland might technically make you Polish, but (and this is going to sound corny) if you talking about being a "real" Pole, it's got to be what's in your heart.

Love / Online matrimonial - a good way to find a true Polish man/woman on the net? [51]

emailing your rotting body to the boneyard

lol.. I'm going to go with my vet. When my last dog had to be euthanized, she was cremated and I got a this nice engraved teak box with the ashes, all for $250.

Internet marriage..though.. might work for some. As long as you never have to meet, thrill might last much longer

Love / 20% of adult Poles are single and live with Mummy! [241]

did you ask him about his plans?

oh yes. I'm helping him make his dreams come true.

I think you're so angry because you're jealous. Somebody else seem to have it easy, surrounded by loving family willing to help each other. Unacceptable!

nothing's more pathetic than a poor old man who expects his kids to wipe his a$s

that's pretty extreme. If an old man requires that level of care, a nurse can be arranged.
Still, as distastfull as the image of my kid wiping my a$$ might be, I wish I knew why.. why an indifferent stranger doing it is more acceptable? I don't think all cultures think that way..

Anyway, a$$ wiping aside, I made my son's first 20 years of his life a joy to behold. And my plan is to switch roles and give it all back to him in reverse, as I slide all the way into my infancy, same way I will be taking care of my parents. That is a cycle of life.

well, i save up for my retirement

this is not necessarily all about money. It's more about families caring about each other, or at the very least, being able to get along. Obviously you don't care about yours, so that's what your kids are going to learn. Nothing's more pathetic than a rich old man that no one wants to be around.
