History / PRUSSIA - Former Vassal of Poland later occupant | Nowadays Germany? [33]

Prussia lives on! In my heart!!! *wipes tear from eye*
One day it will rise again...jawoll!

...But no, today's Germany is not Prussia...to many Bavarians, Thuringians, Saxonians, Swabians and whatnot innit....

Of course the german national team wears still the prussian black and white colors...the sign of the army is still the cross of the order and prussian virtues are still seen as very admirable and are the base of many german stereotypes...the traces are all there...

History / The great mistakes of Poland's history? [216]

Why do you think so many Germans, Jews, Tartars, Ruthenians, Scots, Irish, Hungarians and Czechs settled in Poland?

We know that in the case of Krakau and other towns that Germans were invited to settle here as the mongol invasions left these lands practically depopulated and devastated.

History / Poland is great Mother of all Slavs from Baltic to Balkan [177]

I don't want to pick a fight with you...just asking because of honest interest as I don't see how you can only defend your interest and your culture using a western enemy. I just don't see Europe this way...it's not realistic in my opinon. Also good luck with trying to make all Slavs speaking with one voice! ;)

Good night :)

History / Poland is great Mother of all Slavs from Baltic to Balkan [177]

ps: sry for Kopernik spam didnt kno that there is topic bout it already

No problem! :)

to be honest im not sure how this case ended

I have not so much knowledge with this special case either but it seems as if the eastern countries worked together because they had the same base problems as rather less developed countries than the older members...not because they were Slavs!

See what I mean?

with this last part of my post, i mean it a joke, i though it is easy to see it is a joke. OFC we will drain as much as we can keepin in mind that if it collapse we wont be able to drain anymore xd

*phew*

borned in Poland, got elementary education in Poland, Studied Astronomy in Poland by Polish profesor, yet he is half german coz he studied LAW in Germany? wow cool logic xd

ah lets not foget that his surname is Kopernik! His father was Kopernik so he is Kopernik :D

The Coppi thread is this way =======>

and if we will speak with one voice

Well...if you would be realistic then you would agree that this is never going to happen!
Not with Slavs, not with Germanics, not with Marsians, not within the EU, nowhere...

You just can't make millions of people speak with "one voice" (besides using draconian measures aka a brutal dictatorship).

You seem to have the opinion that the EU is against the "East", that the Slavs must unite to help each other against the West etc.

Why is that so? Can you bring some practical examples?

we will drain from EU till it collapse buaahahahahahaha

And then?

You prefer an unstable Europe? With every country out for it's own again? With alliances who gang up on others again? You miss the last century???

You liked war and unrest this much?

I'm glad the majority (yes, also the slavic majority in the EU) sees it differently...:)

Scottish warriors didn't have much money and look what they accomplished in battle.

Ummm...out of interest here, what are you hinting at Seanie?
What have scottish warriors accomplished?

Kopernik half German? wtf?

Yup! :)

and this Union would speak with one voice so we will would have politic power and could turn EU in direction we desire.

Only if you start to pay in like wise...

On the other hand, I doubt there will ever be a coherent alliance on the base of genetics possible.
Not slavic, nor germanic...
Every country has different priorities...sometimes they align with others, sometimes they do not.

News / THE ARMY OF POLAND - THE REALITY [493]

Well, another reason why it would be probably moot to staff every male and able Pole
with a rifle in these days...
A possible attacker would not lack this resolve!

The exact reason Hitler wanted to save the USA for last

Hitler never had the US on his "To do"-list, the same with GB...

Switzerland avoided two world wars because they didn't lay down and say "gee, which boxcar is for me", or "we're going to which gulag?" No they threatened to fight back.

And nobody else did? ;)

There's a big hole in the middle of the Axis Powers. It was Switzerland.

Yeah...and the reason for it was because Hitler shat his pants thinking about the famous warriors of the mighty Swiss...yeah sure! ;)

Think man!

News / THE ARMY OF POLAND - THE REALITY [493]

Switzerland was surrounded by territory controlled by the Axis Powers from 1940 to 1944.

Why overlooked?

You claimed that the Swiss was so feared by the Axis that they didn't dare to invade the tiny country because every able Swiss man got a rifle....

Fact is that the german machine would had overrun the Swiss like any other country if they had wanted to.
But they could sell unique advantages and possibilities to both, Axis and Allies, which secured them their neutrality and their peace...and that weren't the rifles!

The article agrees....

...
It was, however, precisely because of its neutral status, of considerable interest to all parties involved, as the scene for diplomacy, espionage, commerce, and as a safe haven for refugees.

...
Switzerland's most important exports during the war were precision machine tools, watches, jewel bearings (used in bombsights), electricity, and dairy products. During World War II, the Swiss franc was the only remaining major freely convertible currency in the world,[citation needed] and both the Allies and the Germans sold large amounts of gold to the Swiss National Bank.
Between 1940 and 1945, the German Reichsbank sold 1.3 billion francs worth of gold to Swiss Banks in exchange for Swiss francs and other foreign currency.[18] Hundreds of millions of francs worth of this gold was monetary gold plundered from the central banks of occupied countries. A total of 581,000 francs worth of "Melmer" gold taken from Holocaust victims in eastern Europe was sold to Swiss banks.[18]

Switzerland was much more useful uninvaded...

Why didn't Germany invade Switzerland in World War II?

They took care of the Nazi money/Gold....they did nothing to disturb them and were willing to help and go along.
There was no reason to invade them!

News / Polish President Lech Kaczynski and gov officials die in a plane crash in Russia [686]

Not so sure about that. Anyway, you almost never end up with "The pilot was a f*ck up". That doesn't answer why it happened. Was it training, stress, rest, etc...

I'm sure.
As I said before I have a relative who worked for decades at the airport and knows all about it.

If it is found that the pilot is to blame the family loses every claim of the insurance and the airline doesn't has to pay a dime....

There are actually not many categories...it's always either "technical error", something like "unpredictable event" (like a terrorist attack for example) or "human fault"....and it doesn't matter why the "human" "faulted"....if it's called that then the pilot's family is busted!

One only knows what one is taught - and later, what one chooses to learn. Sorry, indeed.

Oh I know that killing off your smart people is bad news for your, for ANY country because you are going to miss them. In what way did it help Germany for example???

I would wish for smart Jews coming to Germany again...look with what we have to fight today...

Language / Polish was chosen the HARDEST LANGUAGE in the world to learn... :D [1558]

that is something I would agree with and I think there is a social theory re: the influence of the spoken language on the persons patterns of thinking, values etc. Language carries much more then just words.

That is not only a theory but proven. I remember reading articles about studies concerning this.

Language / Polish was chosen the HARDEST LANGUAGE in the world to learn... :D [1558]

What's wrong with being exact and precise??? Using the german language might be a reason for the continued success of german inventors and engineers over the centuries...

Just because a language is "easy" doesn't make it better..."easy" is for stupids!

If they really pull this off....letting Nato troops parading under Stalins portrait...*gapes*

...
MOSCOW -- Posters of Josef Stalin may be put up in Moscow for the first time in decades as part of the May 9 observance of Victory Day -- the annual celebration of the defeat of Nazi Germany.

This year, the 65th anniversary of Germany's defeat, a contingent of U.S. troops is expected to march on Red Square, a striking sign of vaunted "reset" of American-Russian relations.
