If they got anything to embarrassed about it's from their own actions regardless of it being voiced by anyone at all.
It just seems strange if anybody acts as if "nothing is happening", one thing is to not put much attention or value to it. But, ignoring obvious faults while glorifying anything while having done worse is hipocricy, Russians and many of those who do not keep Poland close to her heart might easily claim Poland to be hipocritical or use Poland's behaviour (even tho minimal in comparison) as an excuse to their own similar or excact behaviour to much larger extent thinking that Poland is not able to do it just because of difference in size and by different political thought or goals and choices...
