Is Poland a Slavic country?! (politics included)

There is no such thing as central europeans. And it doesnt matter what "they see themselves" as nobody else cares. Its no different how the russians see themsleves as europeans or western ukrainians. it comes from inferiority conplexes because the west sold them out at yalta. Instead of worrying about what they see the selves ask the americans or british what they see them as or the french.

nobody in america even knows what central europe is or would know what youre talking sbout and they all would clal you an eastern european which we sre. so just admit it and role with it.

and it has nothing to do with geography but your state of mind like the anti gay anti abortion **** that characterizes eastern europe wnd the crime kidnap of girls prostitution human trafficking etc. Just ask the ameicans and they will explain to you the average person on the street in cslifornia what eastern europe is and what they consider poland.

TBH most Americans would struggle to pinpoint France, Germany or Poland on a map!
Most Americans never leave the USA.
And in this discussion, who cares what Americans think?
It has nothing to do with them.

because everything poland does the racism, the homophobia, the government communism style bureaucrasy, the style of dress, the style of culture screams eastern europe. it has nothing to do with some arbitwry map or geographicalmlocwrions you seem obsessed with but the people and the way they live.

Just as much as Euros would struggle to pinpoint Bolivia, Colombia, and Peru.

everything Poland does the racism, the homophobia,

There is nothing wrong with racism in a country as monolithic as Poland. Poland could just as well post "Blacks - stay away" at every border crossing as is Poland's right.

There is no such thing as homophobia as nobody is really scared of homosexuals. Most find them disgusting but are not afraid of them.
Just to keep things straight.

it screams eastern europe whether it is wrong or not becquse western europe moved on from it about 50 yrs ago and the only couńtries like this left are known or called "eastern europe."

Poland belongs to Eastern Europe, more Westernized/Latinized than Russia or Ukraine, yet sqarely Slavic. Czech Republic though is Central European:-)

That is where you are very wrong.
The difference is that Europeans do not see themselves as superior to the rest of the world.
To the degree that they can ignore it, as most Americans do.

nobody in america even knows what central europe is

....that is hardly a criterium and why should it be?

People here in central Europe feel strongly about it, that should be enough....

And where do you start? East Germany had been put behind the Iron Curtain too, but would you put it into eastern Europe because of that?

Spot on.

East Germany had been put behind the Iron Curtain too, but would you put it into eastern Europe?

Killer point!

Who is "the rest of the world"?

Most don't care anyhow, they accept what they are being told....
Strzelec35 28 | 1,606

"whonis the rest of the world"

how bout for one countries running it or the elite or ruling vlass of the world of even the eu such as merkel and france the uk etc. those countries who were making deals with ukraine before putin came in, those countries giving money to places like poland and allowing it to even exist.

The difference is that Europeans

That difference is only in your imagination if you are talking about individuals. Statistically, Americans have no reason to feel superior.

That is where you are very wrong.

Are you sure people in Europe can find Bolivia, Colombia, and Peru on the map?

show me a single holywood movie thst refers to polish people as central europeans. also that march that happens yearly the march of indepndence is typical eqst euro behavior. stuff like that doesnt happen or on such scale anywhere in eu outside of eastern europe.

how bout for one countries running it or the elite or ruling vlass of the world of even the eu such as merkel

.....well...Merkel grew up behind the Iron Curtain too....do you think of her as an eastern European?

thst refers to polish people as central europeans.

...as that even a topic with Hollywood movies????
Strzelec35 28 | 1,606

im sure Merkel doesn't view Poland as some equal or some big European power or some central Europe. they view themselves which is true or Germany as central Europe nobody else is.

all Slavs are pretty much eastern Europe besides the Balkan ones like Croatians. I dont know what Serbians would be considered or Czechs. it usually referred to ws countries still catching up or backwards due to being behind the iron curtain but nowadays it seems the way Hollywood does it is certain countries get called this mostly from upper or north east of Europe past Germany.

I dont see how that is wrong holywood or americans or actual western europeans like the british refer to polish as eastern europeans. or why i should be offended being called this? why would you or I want to be a western or central european? what advantage does this give you other than liberalism, trannies, tolerance of lgtb rights, etc. that exists there? you think any country thwt had a right wing nationalist march every yr and riots at said march is going to be ever called by anyone as central or western europe? or a country obsessed with bandera amd ukriwnians and hate is going ever be part of that club of countries like germany who are tolerwnt wnd have no more enemeis or hate and let history go? or a country so obsessed with the past or that lives in the past? I just read this wuote on linkedin where activision and blizzard took some stand against racism or some company statement and someone commenting wrote this:

" Long ago people separated humanity creating invisible lines across our lands for a means to control humanity within those lines. The earth has no lines, nor does humanity. We are humanity, we are one."

Please ignore Crow's insane babblings.

You always turn it into personal competition.

Poles are mainly Slavonic, though they are not great supporters of "Slavdom", because they see themselves

Let us not generalize here. Who are Poles you talk about? It would be same as I say `Yugoslavians.... see themselves`.

So, what Poles? Kashubs, Lusatians, Silesians, Polani, etc, etc?

Are you Kashub, Lusatian or Silesian when you speak for them? They are with Poland because Poland love Serbs.

ps

So please. Don`t tackle my brain. Speak for yourself. Of course Poland is Slavic. And Serbian. So, Sarmatian.

After all, go tell to Polani they aren`t Sarmatians. You would get between the eyes.

TBH most Americans would struggle to pinpoint France, Germany or Poland on a map!

A lot of them can't even point out America on a map of the world!

There is no such thing as central europeans.

There's MittelEuropa, you see it in Prague, Vienna, Bratislava and to an extent in Krakow and Katowice. Poland has elements of both Central Europe and Eastern Europe in its culture.

The difference is that Europeans do not see themselves as superior to the rest of the world.

Yes. Most people just want to get on with life and don't dwell on concepts like 'manifest destiny' etc.

Pardon. Don`t mock us here. Use Serbian rather. Its not `MittelEuropa` but `Srednja Evropa`.

I always heard Germany was central Europe either in Hollywood movies or what Americans think like in their school textbooks and everything east of Germany is eastern Europe.

Thats what the CIA factbook says about Central Europe:

Regions of Europe:

Central Europe according to The World Factbook (2009)[1] Encyclopedia Britannica and Brockhaus Enzyklopädie (1998):

familypedia.wikia.org/wiki/Central_Europe

Central Europe according to P. Jones (Leibniz Institute for Regional Geography). Many Central European countries and regions were parts of the German and the Austro-Hungarian empires; thus they also have historical and cultural connections.

@Milo, Germans consider themselves Northern, the Austrians, Central European!
Bratwurst Boy 9 | 10,548

Germans consider themselves Northern,

Depends where you ask....the Bavarians see themselves surely not as "northern aka prussian", and the Ossis see themselves as "mittel" as possible....and the Wessis would wonder why you don't call them western Europeans like the Frenchies...

And if you mean "northern" as in scandinavian then that is an error generally I fear....the Scandinavians are their totally own category, no German would put himself into it.
