Jaszczurowa Poland

As you are aware there are two places by that name in close vicinity to each other. Having seen some other of your threads his wife was Orszulak and as there are some Orszulak's in Jaszczurowa in the District (Gmina) Mucharz in Wadowice County it might be a good place to start.

The parish church is Sw. Wojciecha:-

Mucharz 111, 34‑106 Mucharz, tel. +44 (33) 876 14 67

Thanks, I am aware there are two places with the same name. Would you happen to know if Zglobice is in the District of Mucharz.

If you have any luck finding information about your family in this area, please let me know. My great grandmother, last name Fortuna, is also from Jaszczurowa, most likely the one in Gmina Mucharz. Her mother's maiden name is Zawiła. My email is LBoris0217@yahoo. Thanks! Linda

Hello Urszula! Where are you from? Are you currently in Poland? My grandfather's name is Joseph, his father's name was Frank. Just passed a couple years ago at 91 years of age in Maine, USA.

kind of odd in a way. my babcia's maiden name was Wieczorek. But my grandmother was born in Kropiwki, NE of Lublin and married someone from a nearby village just north of Podedworze. I doubt there is any connection due to the spelling. But the name sounded very close to hers though.

Do you have information about the Zawila's?
My grandfather came to Australia after the war, and he was Franciszek Zawila, from Wadowice.
If you have any information, I would greatly appreciate if you were able to send it through to me at:

I know this is a long shot, considering your comment was 12 years ago, but there is no harm in trying.

Hi! Talk about a long shot! It's my great pleasure to meet you here! I'm Jen in Canada - my mother's parents both came from Poland to the US in early 1900s-- one Kurek, one Zawila... Here I am trying to gather information about my Zawila family from Zarębki/Zembrzyce in Małopolskie area of Poland...and somehow I find these very random mentions in a thread of a group I am not even a member of. My lucky day! I'd love to hear from you --- piercey.jennifer@gmail.com. I feel as though I know nothing about the culture of my grandfather's family, though I have been able to trace roots back by several generations and do keep in close touch to other family in that region... I just visited last spring! I can't speak Polish but do use the app DEEPL... so from my home to yours: Życzymy wszystkiego najlepszego w Nowym Roku!
Cheers!
Jen

PS -- for anyone seeing this, so grateful for any information about the Zawila family name, cultural practices etc for the Małopolskie region of Poland... I always understood my grandfather referred to himself as a Goral, a Highlander, from the mountains...white wool costume with red/blue trim, rounded hat, walking cane, etc... Family was talented with animals and in tune with nature, "hot blooded", at least 2 uncles lived in wagons (1 in Poland, 1 in USA) ... is there any Romani connection?
