Are all Poles blue eyed and blonde?

Do you have any idea how widespread Armenian ancestry is in today's Poland gumishu?

I have no idea - just happen to know a girl who knows for sure of her Armenian ancestry and she also has dark brown eyes, dark hair and pretty dark complexion and tanns very dark (for Polish standards) - I also have a cousin and she looks very Caucasian though both her parents have blue eyes (you know those dominant and recessive genes) - I not really knowledgable in the subject but as far as I know there was a sizeable Armenian diaspora in the Kresy cities and towns (including Lwów) who polonized in time

there are three Polish women in my life and none of them have blonde hair or blue eyes, does that to you mean that none of them are Poles?

No it doesn't

No it doesn't

Can you perhaps go into detail about what you have seen with regard to people in Poland and the number of people with blonde hair and blue eyes? I'd be particularly interested to hear your observations as to the people of the Baltic coast, given your claims about the people of that area and the fact that all three I mention are from along the Baltic coast (assuming, in one case, that Malbork is counted as Baltic coast).

The map I linked to doesn't claim that every Pole on the Baltic coast is blond. Do you understand percentages Harry?

In my own family most people, myself included, have blond hair and blue eyes, but there are also dark-eyed brunettes in my family. If you are assuming my posting that map means that I somehow believe that only blonds are Polish then you are sorely mistaken.

Thank you for the off-hand insult. I do as it happens understand percentages. And I also know what I saw in the years that I spent living on the Baltic coast: those sights tell me that your map is somewhat mistaken (not really surprising, given where the current inhabitants of the Polish Baltic coast are actually from, as a working knowledge of Polish history will tell one). However, you might note that I asked you about your observations. Perhaps you could share those with us?

I gave you my personal observations regarding my own Polish family.

Thank you for the off-hand insult.

You are welcome, but I didn't insult you. I asked you a question.

Thank you for that but I asked you for you personal observations regarding the population around the Polish Baltic coast. Tell us how what you have seen there squares with the map you direct us to.

I've spend years up there and your map is very far from what I saw when I was there. Although maybe things have changed dramatically in the three years since I was last there.

Harry - my husband's family ( and they are from Szczecin ) they are all blond and blue eyed - before the war they used to live nearby Plock , Im born on lower silesia but my mother and all her family are from central Poland - they are also all blond and light eyes (my mom has gray) but my father's family come from Slovakia ( my grandmother had also Ukrainian blood) half of my father sibling ( and they were 7) were blond and blue eyed and half had dark hair with blue eyes. My mom is blond my father dark brown hair both blue eyed, Im dark brown with blue-gray eyes and my brother blond hair with blue eyes. My husband is light blond and my child is dark blond. But what is more interesting noone has different color of eyes then blue, green or gray. What I can noticed many Poles born as a blond when they are growing color starts to be more dark, most men cut they hair very short and they dont dyed them. So its really hard sometimes to see what kind of color they hair have. You should noticed more that Poland is a land for many light eyes people!!

My mother's side of the family is all blond, blue or green eyed, my father's side has dark hair but again all have blue or green eyes. On the whole Poles have blond or brown hair, with blue, green or grey eyes.

which part? Most people visit south of POLAND - Karkow thats all. I dont say that all Poles are blond and light eyes. There are regions where more % of Poles are blond and blue eyed and there are parts where they arent. On the south people are more dark, they are also mix with Slovak, Czech, Ukrainian a lot not all but many!

I spent most of my time in the Warsaw area and Lower Silesia. Most people there had brown hair.

I know a few Poles and PolAms here in the States and most of them have dark brown or light brown hair.

For some reason, I get the impression that the OP is some neo-Nazi with an agenda to paint the image that most Poles are blond haired/blue eyed which is certainly not the case.

OP Neo-nazi? what are you talking about ?

Look on the American article:
During the Zamosc expulsions the Germans seized many children from their parents to be racially screened for possible adoption by German parents in the SS Lebensborn ("Fount of Life") program. As many as 4,454 children chosen for Germanization were given German names, forbidden to speak Polish, and reeducated in SS or other Nazi institutions, where many died of hunger or disease. Few ever saw their parents again. Many more children were rejected as unsuitable for Germanization after failing to measure up to racial scientists' criteria for establishing "Aryan" ancestry; they were sent to children's homes or killed, some of them at Auschwitz of phenol injections. An estimated total of 50,000 children were kidnapped in Poland, the majority taken from orphanages and foster homes in the annexed lands. Infants born to Polish women deported to Germany as farm and factory laborers were also usually taken from the mothers and subjected to Germanization. (If an examination of the father and mother suggested that a "racially valuable" child might not result from the union, abortion was compulsory.)

You dont know the history of migration of the Pole inside Poland, people from lower silesia are mostly came from Ukraine. I think that most of people on the west cant some how believe that Poles are blond... come on guy you have been here only for a while. Have you ever been in the kindergarten in Poland? What can you really say about us ?

Fascinating. What Nazism has to do with blue eyes ?

It seems that many Westerners posting here have patronizing Nazi-like attitudes that regard Poles as a "backwards" people who can't be blond because blondness is reserved for the descendants of the Angles, Saxons, Jutes, and other Germanic tribes.

It's strange that you have such indepth knowledge of Nazi racial theories, isn't it?

However, as someone living here, it's rare to see genuine blondes. I don't know many - plenty of dirty "Polish" blondes, but nothing like you'll find in Sweden or the like.

Then again, I actually live here and know a thing or two.

Where in my brief post do you see "indepth" knowledge of Nazi racial theories?

Putting the word Polish in quotation marks..... You are the racist delphiandomine, not me.

Your ignorance of Poland knows no limits, does it?

Anyone who actually lives here, or knows anything about Poland would know that "Polish" dirty blonde is quite characteristic for Poland - hence the quotation marks. It's a Polish trait.

Where did you get that idea from ? Nazi posters or Hollywood war movies?

Was Hitler blond haired ?

Your stupid ability to make false distinctions knows none:

it's rare to see genuine blondes. I don't know many - plenty of dirty "Polish" blondes

So by your reasoning "dirty" blondes are somehow not "genuine" blondes..... Then why call them blondes in the first place unless you are just being an idiot?

havent read this thread because its too long. however i have got a one pound bet on with my friend paulina. our mutual friend dominika is 6 months pregnant. she is blonde and blue eyed as are her 2 children. her partner has black hair and brown eyes. normally brown eyes are dominant..we will have to wait and see

You are right that the gene for brown eyes is dominant when paired with the gene for blue/reen/grey eyes, but if her partner carries the recessive gene, that is responsible for blue/green/grey eyes, then there is a 50/50 chance the child will have blue/green/grey eyes.

'dirty blonde' is a term used by english speaking Poles. dirty blonde = mousy

scandinavian blonde is not the same.

check previous threads for clarification.

As said above, "dirty" blonde is a term used here, and anyone living/in contact with real Poles would know it. It's not offensive, it's not a big deal - it's just the terminology used. The hair colour isn't the same, hence the need for some terminology. Perhaps you might want to familiarise yourself with the concept of "ciemny blond" (like Jonny asked you to) before resorting to abuse.

Nice of you to call Polish people "idiots", though.

Why 'Scandinavian blond' should be a measure here or 'dirty blond' for that matter ?
Blond is blond regardless of its shade, Maybe delph is a racist at heart!

My favourite are filthy blondes, because they're filthy.

Are you really from Poland, Ironside? I'm starting to wonder, given that "dirty blonde" is in almost universal use by Poles in English as a translation of "ciemny blond".

we all understand this completely. my friend is divorced and her ex husband had the same colouring(dark hair eyes etc), but i think her genes are dominant, hence why my friend and i have this bet on!

Blond is blond regardless of its shade,

i don't agree. light brown (mousy) is not blonde.

most Poles understand this when it is explained.

it stems from lack of vocabulary. mousy is a new word for many.

For true, or 'Scandinavian' or whatever u'd like to call people with light blond hair, in Poland the term swinski blondyn/blondynka (swine/pig blond) is applied. Like the Poland-China bread of swine with the pinkish blond like bristles (coat) and eye lashes.
