It is listed as my Grandfathers birth place in 1885, but can find no record of a city, town, village by that name.

There's a village called Ładna in the south of Poland.
Could that be it? It's very near Tarnów and about 50 miles from Kraków.

That`s Galicia, the poorest region in partitioned Poland, with a lot of migration, indeed.

How do you know it is located in today`s Poland? It can be somewhere in the East - borders changed a few times after 1885.
