Hi Folks, I am planning a trip to Poland to look for a birth record of my father who was born in Lubelski. Can anyone suggest where i would be able to find one and what town? Or can i go to the Polish embassy? I would appreciate any information :) Cheers, Parys
How to Find Birth Records in Poland?
You have to have the date of birth, the town of birth. The names of his parents would help. Then go to the nearest Urzad Stanu Cywilnego.
Thanks Terri, all i have is 1920 in Lubelski. I am planning to go to Warsaw.
Warsaw will direct you to Lubelski. This is probably not the name of a town, but the region. If you have any paperwork whatsoever, take it with you.
The main town in Lubelski region is Lublin. They may be able to help you.

@Parys
Do you have his exact date of birth or just the year?
As for Lubelski or Lubelskie, it literally means 'of Lublin', it may apply to the Lublin Voivodeship
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lublin_Voivodeship_(1919-1939)
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lublin_Voivodeship
or several places with 'lubelski' in its name for example Janów Lubelski
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan%C3%B3w_Lubelski_County
or actually any place in the region.
If he was born in 1920, his birth records should be in Urząd Stanu Cywilnego, not the state archives. But you need to find the correct USC before you apply for a copy of his birth record (you may need to apply in advance and pay some fee - not sure if you can do it on the spot ).
Warsaw is far from Lublin.
So before you go to Poland, find as much information about him as possible. Try to contact some governmental offices as well. Right now you have very little information.

Thank you Kaprys, the only info i have here says October 1920, Suchowola , Lubelskie Poland.
Try contacting the USC in Suchowola then. I don't know if they speak English but if he was born in Suchowola, they should have his records.

Thank you again Kaprys for that information. I sent them an email :) I so appreciate it, Cheers, Parys
I'm sorry but I have just realised that I probably gave you wrong information. The town called Suchowola isn't in Lublin Voivodeship so that's not it. However, there are several other places called Suchowola including four villages in Lublin Voivodeship.

Let me check if they have some centralised data base.
I'm not sure really. If your father was born in a village, the place doesn't have it's own USC but belongs to a town or city in the area.
Here's the email to the USC in Lublin.
usc@lublin.eu
Try your luck there.

I need to find my father's place of birth in Poland. I know that he was born on Dec 3rd 1925 (deceased now). I do not know the town where he was born - although I know it was in the southeast - and may now be part of Belarus or Ukraine. How can I find this?
@RHawron
You need to find the place where he was born. Then contact the civil register office there. For records from the former Eastern territories of Poland, contact the civil register office in Warsaw -wydział ksiąg zabuzanskich.

Anyone know an agency that can obtain birth records?

It won't be possible because of the privacy laws.
Try getting your original birth record to find your biological parents and then look for your siblings via social media.

I need to obtain my deceased father's birth certificate from Poland. His date of birth was 3/9/1928 and he was born in either Rozan or Makov. I also have the birthdates of my grandparents. Can you give me any idea on how to proceed?

Hi folks, How do I confirm the birth of my ancestor, Barbarba von der Schellenberg, in Altenstein, Rybnik, Silesia, Prussia, (now Poland)?
An important question is whether or not this person is a blood relative or only by marriage! If they were adopted, this might complicate matters without a certified family tree.
