Polish look very slavic in my opinion, some look like Russians some like Czechs and some like Serbs but you seldom see Pole looking like Germanic.
I agree 100%. I think polish people are darker than most east slavs, it's like we have a yellowish olivey skin tone naturally, noticed mostly brown hair/dark brown but a lot of dark blonde too.
You have to remember though Polish mixed with Tartars, romanians, ukranians, hungarians, sweeds, germans etc over the ages
By dark what do you mean? Poles in general aren't dark...they simply aren't pale like most far eastern slavs. They tend to have a more richer, rosier, more deeper white complexion...sort of like germans. When I think dark I might think the Mediteranean with olive skins and what not. The yellowish olive skin tone you speak of is me. I have pale olive skin but that;s because I'm half Greek and half Polish. I also have brown hair I guess. Also Poles never really mixed with Magymars(Hungarians), Romanians, or Swedes so much. These ethnicites arern't visible in genetic tests.
When I mean dark I don't mean Mediterranean dark. I think Polish skin varies. All the polish people I know tan very well (except for the very pale ones). For example I have pale olive skin, my oldest sister has VERY dark olive skin and my other sister is light.
It then all depends on the region of Poland probably. I'd imagine South are most tanned/dark but then again my family and friends are from North Poland and still exhibit darker skin.
I do disagree on we have a similar complection as germans, we are darker then germans but i agree with you that we are darker than east slavs.
When I say swedes it's from polish-swedish wars but the impact wouldn't be much I guess then yes?
When you say Magyars don't share genetics with Poland I think this is not true, I can't find the link at the moment but there was talk that Hungarians share a very common genetic profile and we both have the highest incidence of R1 in europe (don't quote me on R1)
Here is a sample population of Poles, i think it is reasonably indicative, there is a lot of them as they are on parade, mostly army types, but there are quite a few civilians as well.
My family from the mother's side is mixed : light eyes and blonde hair, brown eyes and dark hair, really different, but from the father's side most of them is blue eyed and have blonde hair.
So i'm wonder if i look like a polish person. I'm so sorry for that photo but i really don't have other one here. Simply my eyes are hazel, sometimes it gets dark green colour and my hair are naturally dark blonde or light brown (it depends on the sun).
This is a fun thread... I am 5th generation (1/2 pole tho). 1st immigrant is from Russia when migrated to USA. Dad's side is 100% polish, mom's side is German. I do have my dad's features - nose & rounder face like his mother (she passed before I was born). His aunt (still kicking at 96 yrs!) says my character is the same as hers too, kind & soft spoken. Happy to have her name too! My height (5'5") is from my grandpa though my legs are shorter yet not quite 'petite' (I'm the tallest in my family!). We've all had dark blonde to dark brown hair and hazel to brown eyes (I had really light blonde hair till age 12). Cousins are dark blonde. I tan well like my dad, really dark. A stranger at a gas station asked if I was polish. Weird... I asked what made him ask that... my nose, he said. There you go.
The downside... my dad's generation (siblings & cousins) never learned the language therefore it was never passed down. It didn't bother me when I was younger, but it certainly does now. The language being spoken stopped at our grandparents.
my grandparents were native Polish, my father therefore polish too, i am half as my mother is english, My father Had Jet Black hair, dark complexion and dark eyes (often mistaken for Hispanic or Asian), i have the same but a light complexion and hazel eyes - however my brother is the same as my father ... this is a picture of my granddad, and also one of me, anyone have any ideas/opinions/likeness' let me know [dont be nasty or i may have to cyberkill you :)]
I got some dark elements from the Polish side. Dark hairs , eyes and skin that is able to get brown easily. People thought I was Italian or from Greece. I don't know if that could something typical of a possible polish look, but I guess so.
A great myth. Our balkan women look superior to italian ones. All men I know come disappointed from Italy regarding local female appearances. But in terms of character personality I admit italian women are better.
With the first part I would fully agree(especially Ex YU), but what makes you think that Italian women have a better character/personality?? Any experience?
Complete BS, I hate to generalize but Mediterranean women (esp. Greek and Italian) are the most stuck up self centered women that think they're better than everyone. Polish girls are so much easier to get along with either as friends or accepting of a date and have much greater personalities.
Now I know each country has it's bad and good, but this is the overall analysis from the many women I have met in these areas. And by met, I don't mean in "bed", I mean in person or as friends or on a date/simple relationship.
& Before you call me biased I am Greek myself and half Polish.
You can come to our beaches in mediteranean sea and change your skin.
Yes you'll also get a good exercise running the beaches from the sex-deprived Italian and Greek men; lol
I'm part Polish and part Irish..skin that tans easily, very few freckles. my eyes are green-brown, hair is dark brown. but, everyone else in my family has lighter eyes and lighter hair. guess it was my dad's genes that made me darker...

No matter how your experiences were, it seems that you like more the easy going type. A little bit resistance is not too bad... I myself was mostly speaking for the area of Ex YU and the women there know their status. For me they are the most beautiful women in Europe.
Ok, so it's been like a year? since my last post, and i was told i was too young to tell which of my nationalities i look most like. Well, I think my face has changed some, so here are updated pics.
so, just click the links, the photo thing never works for me. Well, My heritage is Hungarian, Polish, English (like from england, UK) and German. The hungarian family all has dark hair and hazel-brown eyes (like me) The polish family has all hair from black, brown to blonde. All have blue/grey eyes. The english family has dark brown/black curly hair and blue eyes. German family has dark hair and both blue and LIGHT green/hazel eyes. Thanks :)
Oh, forgot to add that my hair is mainly straight, but the longer it grows, it gets a little more wavy.
It's not a good idea to post your photo on a forum full of weirdos like this one :D
Though I'll admit that I wouldn't mind being "assessed" myself, but I value my privacy far too much. So I'll leave it to those who know me off-PF. Not that I really care whether I look "100% Polish" or not (I don't, anyway... lol).
75% slavic,25% mediteranean.
It's not often I agree with you, but I was thinking something like that as well.
I know it's a terrible idea, but curiosity got the better of me.
Perhaps it's hard to tell from the pictures, but I am VERY pale, medium brown hair, and greenish brown eyes, so I'm curious as to why Mediterranean came up. While in England, a few people asked me if I was Polish. Here in the US, some people try to speak Russian to me. My mother has much darker olive skin, and people come up to her in airports speaking Italian or Greek.
Judging from where my great grandparents were born, I am 1/2 Russian, 1/4 Polish, 1/8 Lithuanian, and 1/8 Belarusian; however, modify each of the above with "Jewish", which I understand makes the distinctions much less clear.
My Ukrainian friend, by the way, says I just look "Jewish".
