I have been trying to trace my family tree. My mother' side being english has not been quite as difficult as my father's side. My father's father, his parents and an uncle(his Mother's brother) came to America from Poland, possiblly Ukrania or Austria. I was told my Grandfather's place of birth was Jezupol,Poland. I tried searches for this on the internet & come up with nothing. The spelling may be wrong. However I do have my Great Uncles passport?(not sure it that is what they were called back then). His name appears to be Nickolaj Skribenko and the papers have an indication of Duetsch-Ruthenian origin on them. I am also looking for information on my Grandfather's last name which is Parkulo as it is now spelled but I do not know what the original spelling was possibly Parkulob but my Father said he had seen it spelled once and it was much longer. I believe they came to America in the earlt 1900,s no later than 1915. One other surname I am looking for in fo on is Kalapaj. This name is my Grandmother's maiden name. I have located the Ellis Island entry for her Mother and older brother & sister. They came to America Dec. 12.1909.

I would be intersted in the orig spellings of the names I do not know, origins etc. I have always wondered if they are still family in the old countyor countries. Any information would be very appreciated. Thanks

Well, Jezupol used to be in the Austro-Hungarian partition of Poland before WWI, now it's Ukraine.
Skribenko sounds Ukrainian. The other names could be Ukrainian too.

Couldn't find any bearers of the surnames you mentioned in today's tiny, truncated Poland. They mnsut have been from the eastern borderlands of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth or what are now the ziemie utracone (lost terrirories).

Jezupol - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yezupil

now in Ukraine - must have had a mixed Ukrainian-Polish population

your ancestors were clearly Ukrainians (judging by first names and surnames)
