Making my first attempt at Cytrynówka in Michigan,

Some of my friends in Chicago drink this wodka. I tried it at a party and its really tasty:)

I will probably refilter & rebottle, but would like to learn for next time..

Its sounds like it wasn't finished fermenting, but Im not an expert distiller. Its usually a bit cloudy from the store bought bottles Ive tried:)

Na Zdrowie:)

Heya Ya'll I have about 500mls of this stuff and am keen to try something a little experimental (planning on using Guavas) any advice. My plan so far is to cut up the Guavas (1kilo of) and put them in a jar with about half a kilo of Sugar, and cover it with water. Then after the sugar has dissolved adding the Spyritus and then setting it aside for about 6months shaking it every couple of months. Is this about right, I'm looking for a 40% strength Liqueur (round abouts) in the end and am not sure if I'm understanding the process any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Yes, I suppose it should work.

It all depends on the proportions you use.

Well I'm planning on basically using the proportions outlined but was wondering If I should/could add an amount of vodka or water to give the Liqueur more volume.

water

Always. To get it to the strength/consistency you want.

and how much would be needed to filter it down to about 35-40% like a litre of water to half a litre Spirytus?

Thats sounds about right. Remember its pure grain alcohol and cant even drink it until its diluted.

Once, I tried a capful straight out of the bottle to see what happens. I wont do that again! LOL

Depends how strong the spiritus is.

An alcometer (a few zl online, looks like the ones used for measuring specific gravity for wine/beer but with a different scale for higher levels of alcohol - don't bother with the expensive electroinic kind) and some simple maths. The maths is findable online.

Or just do it by taste.

a litre of water to half a litre Spirytus?

Less than that.
