As a gift maybe it's nice to choose a vodka with flavour. Sobieski Cranberry is really nice, esp. if it's a gift for a woman.

Or the Swedish Absolut Pear, which is sold in Poland. Very tasty, but maybe a little bit more expensive than many others.

Real ale :) :) :) 2.5 months and I'll be tucking into some good stuff.

That's what juice is for, SwedishPole ;) ;) Nah, flavoured ones can make good gifts.

You can't mix vodka and jucie and get 40% alc.

Szwed, I meant that the juice can be a chaser and thus change the flavour of the clear vodka.

TM, yeah, back for Xmas :) Fair stoked :)

It's good to discover new worlds. I remember being in uni and all I knew was Smirnoff. How the world changes :)

Actually it for my friends Dad B-day hes from Poland.

Well its a pretty tight race between the Zubrowka and Wyborowa
The zubrowka I see in alot of the stores and its not that expensive. Thats why I was thinking about getting a bottle of Chopin or something thats harder to find?

Sobieski vodka seems to be a big seller over here.

Nothing touches Pan Tadeusz, it has a redeeming quality to it.

museum of wodka in ???

Muzeum wódki na ???

In Riga, a private museum of vodka was opened. "The idea to arrange such a museum came up quite spontaneously. One evening friends came and brought with them a bottle and when it was already empty we set it on the shelf," - said co-founder Leonard Jankelovic. In this way, many thousands of bottles were collected, some are still full, the other half emptied or completely empty "- told Jankelovic. Admission to the museum is free. The most awaited are guests with bottles of vodka, with either full or empty already.

Its my dads birthday soon and i was thinking of trying to get him some Polish vodka (he likes a drink), any ideas on which one is the best and where to get it from??

Quite a few, Belvedere, Chopin, and of course Zumbrowska. You could also go Russian with Stolichnaya Elit (very expensive) and Russian Standard.

Żubrówka I think you mean. It's more for drinking with apple juice, rather than being a vodka for connosieurs.

Zubrowka beat out Wyborowa in the wodka poll by only a slim margin

Is Sobieski vodka popular in Poland?

Because its become a big seller in the bars here in Chicago now, they do alot of advertising with the Sobieski girls:) and on billboards etc....

Im just wondering if its really that popular in Poland or a clever advertising campaign?

I tired it and vodka tastes all the same to me,,,Daj mi Piwo:)

I'd go as far as to say that Sobieski would be the most popularly bought vodka here. It's so cheap for what you get. It doesn't have the image of outright cheapness and the harsh associations that come with it. The lightweights can always have a chaser, mix it up with some blackcurrant juice.

That must be why it does well in the bars with the prices going up all over the place.

The sobieski girls are hot!!! They show up at the polish bars and give away shooters:)
