Sort of....difficult to explain really.

Yes, you can drink in there, unfortunately they don't sell Fortuna

It didn't really look like a place I'd have fun. Too bright for me :)

Zubr in hand. The forum is quite lively this evening, so, who likes Zubr?

Ah!!! is that a Polish beer?

I had it a while ago (a bar in Hoxton, if I remember rightly) and loved it - best of all, it was like 3% so great for a school night.

Then I never saw it again, so figured that I'd maybe imagined it.

Well, 6% but it is great

Maybe there's a "lite" version?

Gutted that I'd not seen or heard of it since. Is it available across Poland? I'd somehow imagined it to be a Czech beer.

6% is the 'lite' version. I guess it's readily available tho other PF members may prove me wrong.

I like Zubr :) The green can? Not sure which one that is, but I remember it tasting ok.

It is in a green can, yes. The bottle is not too dissimilar.

I had 3 bottles tonight, enough for me.

That'll do it. Big bottles I might add ;) Not no American sized 12 oz.

I wouldn't say Polish beer is the best in the world

Not by any stretch. And the brewers fek around with the beer too much in Poland too.

I mean, if u extend the net a wee bittie to encompass ales, I'd rather have a good British ale than drink a Polish beer. Don't get me wrong, Polish beers are refreshing and can hold their own but there are better. I have a Singha and Tiger in the fridge, bought today in ASDA. Crisp and tasty!!

Polish beer is great,
I used to think Czech beer was the best in the world but it has been a while since I have drunk the stuff. And I have never thought much of Asian beer, I mean it's alright, I thought it just taste good cause of the heat.

But isn't Vodka the Poles drink?

Polish beer is great,

Some Polish beers are very nice

But to put them on a pedal stool above all others is wrong

But with all due respect, which is actually not very much at times, if you dont clean the pipes out properly it tastes like sh!te

It's hard to make a beer really stand out. I was reading Michael Palin's Around the World in Eighty Days book and was glad to read that he found Kingfisher to be one of the best beers he had ever tasted. I've said it b4, Kingfisher is what a good beer should be. The Indians can be proud of that!!

Poodle stool, kinda, I mean you have German, Czech, Polish and Lithuanian are my fav bears.
Apart from Guinness in Ireland you basically get Miller budwiser and carlsberg, stella and a few others, in comparison to Polish beer, the fore mentioned are all carp.

You are dead right about the cleaning of the pipes, When I go into a bar I generally order what I see everyone else drinking, a nice fresh pint....hhmm friday evening is fast aprouching, this talk of beer is giving me ideas.

Lithuania, I've only tried one but it was a cracking beer. It's an award winning one. Svytury is the name, mmm...

Utena, Kanapolis, but it is probably Svyturys.
One thing about beer is only the first two matter, after that I can't taste anything anyway, ha ha ha

Do they have a similar brewing tradition? I guess they are much and such for quality and hard to tell apart. Just a hunch. Polish beer is fairly distinct. I can tell a Lech apart from a Zubr and a Zubr from a Tyskie.

Similar tradition to brewing as Poland? I don't know, it is one of the few things Lithuanians are proud of with just cause.
Which is better Zubr or Lech, never drank them, they always looked quer to me. I am going to do the taste challenge this evening

Lech is objectively better tho I prefer Zubr. Zubr is a beer that u buy in shops whereas Lech is sold in restaurants and pubs more. Bear in mind Sean that Zubr is 6%, on the strong side for a 'standard' beer. Lech 'lags' behind on 5.2%, Tyskie is 5.6%.

Enjoy!!

Speaking of light beer. Does PL make one?

They have taken out Lech Lite I think. They tried Lech Strong which I had hoped would be popular, but it never really took off after its launch. Gee, u've got me rubbing my head at that question. Poland doesn't really take the middle ground, it's either +5% or 0 for the most part.

Lech Lite is available in some places.

This is a pretty cool PL Beer page. I think maybe some of this stiuff isn't made any longer, but some good info within.

Super website. The beer produced in Zabrze is very cheap but drinkable. It was targetted at miners coming off of a long shift. In some countries, I'd be scared to drink such cheap offerings but they go down better than u'd think in Poland.

Well, if u r gonna make a nation alcoholic, be as well do it in style :)
