:) it can do, Always wondered why people steal the badges off it on a regular basis. Has got a very good immobilisers though, anti tow system. Still not secure enough to stop the local pikey scumbags from siphoning my petrol out through the tank venting system but the rat poison should see to that.

What went wrong with the indian restaurant? I would assume that would do really well, Regarding a kebab shop you will be up against a lot of already established businesses which could make things more difficult.
Are you looking for a business partner/investor? I would be interested in opening a restaurant but not too sure about the kebab shop. Drop me an email if you fancy mulling over some ideas, figures etc.

Can't you just apply to the DVLA for a new set, they usually cost around £20 and take 2 weeks,
Regarding Insurance and MOT it should come up fine on the ANPR cameras and you don't really need the physical documents anymore.

Carrying documents around does seem rather archaic really, if the uk of all countries can introduce a central database surely all other countries should be able to. I got stopped once here and told the police to do a PNC check and they just llokd at me confused, I hardly ever carry any other documents apart from my drivers licence.

Actually its not, the above examples of the USA or Poland only partially cover the real World. Im a MD and employ around 10 Poles at any one time i couldnt care a less about their qualifications. I go with on the job performance. No qualifications here im afraid, i wont stand for that BS.

You should be fine, Its probably worth emailing the schools directly with your CV as theres hundreds to go and visit and would take you ages, You shouldn't have any problems getting a job here though. Delphiandomine is on holiday at the moment but he's the person to ask as he knows more about teaching than me.

Life / Petrol theft in Poland common? [27]
Just wondered if its common for scallys to steal petrol in Poland as i've had a fair bit siphoned out of my car recently about 80 litres in the past 2 weeks, They seem to be getting it out of the fuel venting system under the car probably by use of a mechanical pump,
I live in a good area too this is why i found it suprising, At first i suspected one of the godawful roads here had caused a fuel leak but i had it on the four poster and everythings in order so its obviously being stolen.
Is there a method to prevent this?

sounds like a plan :), thought about packing the pipe theyre using to get it through with rat poison so if they suck it through then they swallow it then i realised that it could be classed as murder :(

My memorys terrible, I think i would forget its full of water and try to drive it :(
Its just a fairly large saloon car, Theres no evidence it was lifted but if you lie on your back under the rear end you can see a pipe which is around 10 mm diameter coming from the side of the tank, I assume that they must have pumped it out through there....
fill it up with water and spoil their stolen stock ;)

Couldn't you say you lost your card when you got mugged and show them your passport? UK citizens are entitled to free healthcare here, In my experience the polish healthcare system is excellent, Even if you did have a card no doubt it would have been kept in your wallet anyway and when they put the details into the system it isn't going to be processed straight away this is polish administration so you should be in the clear.

Life / Deadly Roads - "Are polish roads really THAT dangerous?" [139]
I find Polish roads horrific both the quality of the road and the standard of driving by the people who use them, I drive around 70,000 miles a year and in Poland even though i've been here for quite some time i'm genuinely scared and appalled by the actions some drivers take and the unnecessary risks some take just to get past 1 more car. I'm not the slowest driver in the world and will happily cruise at 150 mph + through germany overnight on an empty motorway where both the roads and the people that use them work in harmony like a well engineered swiss watch. You can predict what 99% of other road users are going to do where in Poland if someone indicates left they could do anything. Drivers have no lane discipline and seem flummoxed by roundabouts etc. Also drivers of expensive(ish) cars seem to think that the rules of the road don't apply to them and that the highway code braking distances are measured in millimetres.
When i worked as a rep in the UK driving the length and breadth of the country on a weekly basis I hardly ever saw accidents in Poland I've seen people lose control on a perfectly straight stretch of road for no obvious reason, I've seen a car on its roof in the centre of poznan (how the F*ck do you manage that?)
I find it amazing how few people die on Polish roads given the quality of the roads themselves and the sheer incompetence of the motorists who use them.
What do they teach in the polish driving test, I stood at a bus stop once (yes i used a bus once *shivers*) and watched some guy have at least 7 attempts to fit his Mercedes A class into a fairly large space before giving up and wheel spinning off with a damaged ego. Most of the drivers on the road have no idea how to operate a clutch either slipping it whilst revving the engine excessively or performing a massive wheelspin (something which is only done in the UK by burberry wearing acne infested chavs in saxos and corsas) or just simply stalling as they are too engrossed in their telephone conversation.
Add this to the corrupt police who once pulled me in an ageing 1.6 88bhp mitsubishi claiming that i was doing over 300 kmh (i did invite them to show me how to get my car to go this fast but they declined) who are interested in nothing apart from making a quick buck from speeding motorists and do nothing about dangerous driving nothing is going to change in the near future.
So in answer to the OPs question Polish roads themselves aren't that dangerous but the incompetent barely qualified egotistical clueless morons that use them are.

I find it fine, I often have random conversations with people that I don't know, Its just the same as in the UK well the north of England,
The older generations don't seem as open and happy to engage in conversation though.

Life / Haunted Homes in Poland [173]
I didn't really believe in ghosts till about 4 years ago when i worked in a country club which was supposedly haunted and despite my co workers telling me not to go to the toilets after 9pm going in there, the cubicle doors slammed shut with none there, all the taps came on and i got pushed by something i couldn't see, That was rather scary and weird. Also I saw a person stood at the end of the bar that kinda convinced me that there must be something. Also when staying at my parents house i've seen things move by themselves but that could be anything as the house is over 600 years old.
I however don't believe in God or the Devil and am not religious in the slightest as i feel i don't need to go to a cold building once a week so that a man wearing a dress can tell me how to live my life and be a good person.

I do the trip from Bude to Poznan twice a month in one hit, thats a killer,
I used 255 45 18 tyres on my Bmw with standard bmw rims, and my god they are strong, I've driven over allsorts with no problems,
35 mpg from a straight 6 BMW is a great result, my 728i averages 26 mpg if i drive like a saint and is strangely more economical at higher speeds, As a way 0f crossing continents you simply can't fault a big BMW though :)
Looking forward to the update, i've always fancied driving to the ukraine, How is the BMW coping with the poor quality low octane fuel there? Mine was always quite fussy and ran badly if i put poor quality fuel in although I assume the knock sensor will rectify any differences in the octane?

This spring I drove to Helsinki through St. Petersburg on 15 inches disks. I was like "God damn this road I'll never drive there again". Now I've got summer 17 inches OZ racing disk and I don't even think of driving there. What I want to say is that 18 inches are good for Europe or for big cities in Russia but they're hardly acceptable for highways far away from cities, unless you're a sluggish driver. You take risks... My friend recently drove his bmw with oval tires didn't notice the dimple on the road tore the tire and crushed the disk. Thankfully there was a repair-shop not so far...

Travel / Driving to Zakopane from England [21]
Continental do a fantastic all weather tyre which isn't too expensive you can order them in the uk, blackcircles.com or camskill do some good deals mail order, make sure you have esp/abs etc as it makes for better snow driving, Ideally use something 4wd like an impreza, audi quattro etc, My M3 used to get stuck for a past time :) I've driven through germany all times of the year and never really bothered with winter tyres just good all weather ones. Toyo proxy t1r are good in the snow due to their V shaped tread pattern but not ideal but better than most.
If you need help with your tyres pm me the tyre siza and i'll have a look for you (the numbers on the sidewall, ie 205/40/r17)
Tyre chains are generally banned on the road between zakapane and krakow and aren't really necessary in all honesty. If you hire a car in PL or ze fazzerland it will come fitted with suitable tyres so don't worry about that.
make sure you have european breakdown cover, I use green flag and they are excellent, recovered my Audi from a french autoroute and towed it all the way back to cornwall when the gearbox spewed its guts.

Make sure you have the full compliment of totally unecessary equipment in your car including warning triangle, first aid kit, spare bulbs, Fire extinguisher and those stupid high visability vests.
Regarding the ferry Norfolklines dover to dunkirk route is the cheapest at £30 each way on a roll up basis.

Thats probably the best way, do they dilute it with kerosene or something? Add to the fact that diesels make a horrific noise when you start them in the morning and fill pedestrians lungs up with carcinogenic soot and are shocking to drive give me a straight 6 bmw anyday :)

In Russia it mostly concerns quality of diesel. That's the main reason why I still don't have a car with a diesel engine.

Everybody uses rim locks here. Unless you have them I strongly recommend you to keep an eye on your car.
