UK, Ireland / Free Flights at Ryanair?! (UK / Poland) [39]

Ryanair charges potential pilots £50 for the privilege of a job interview and, if they pass, a further £200 for a simulator check. Guess what kind of pilots they get.

Keen ones Harry.......keen ones....;)

Its an employers market at the minute...........

How many fatalities at Ryanair since 1994........eeemmmmm.........zero!!!!!

Am sure someone can count those at BA, American airlines etc....;)

UK, Ireland / Free Flights at Ryanair?! (UK / Poland) [39]

So the Polish love to moan like all the other begrudgers.....not surprising.....!!!

Turning into true EU citizens.......tut...tut.................

Ryanair gave freedom and "liberty" to millions of Europeans........when every other EU country/national carriers refused access to their airports and threatened to take them to court/ put out of business the new Irish upstart........oh how the mighty have fallen............!!!!

THE most profitable airline in the EU.......and most used within the EU.

Sure theres lots about them I don't like, but its been a very successful business model...copied by lots of others. I don't use them as much now, but 4 of us to Paris and back for 40 Euro in April 2009, aint bad.

JUST UNTICK ALL THOSE BOXES GUYS...and travel light!!!!!!

PS I use direct-travel.co.uk Annual family cover within the EU....mind numbing annual, family insurance cover for the grand total of...........£46...oh sorry, I get a discount for using them each year...and deleting personal possessions (normally covered by your own household insurance) its actually 25% less...making it........£34.50...................................................... ...................................................................... .................yes you read correctly.........£34.50 for annual EU wide family travel insurance!!!!!!!!

LONG LIVE RYANAIR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

History / Poland Betrayed in WW2 [243]

The worst thing about it is that the Brits are being brainwashed by their media and history books - and know nothing about what we Polish did for them during IIWW.
And then you constantly hear that we did nothing for Britain

Without GB.......the bravest of the brave Polsih soldiers...wouldn't have had anywhere to escape to, and indeed carry on the fight and resistance to German occupation and nihilism.

Only 2 enemies here............Germany.................and Russia................end of.

UK, Ireland / What are the best flights Glasgow to Krakow? [9]

I hate that airline... but needs must as we say in the UK

Only for Ryanair, the British middle classes would be moaning about the high cost of travel etc......

Long live Ryanair!

Travel / Ryanair cancelling flights to Poland at short notice [55]

Ryan was once cheap. Not any more. But whatever. They're still sh!t

Lol...but thats only your opinion......58 million passengers aint wrong........per annum!

Ryanair were nearly as important to Poland as the fall of the communist regime....brought millions of Polish people the "freedom" to travel........

They reckon by this time next year there will only be the big four players in business in Europe.......very bad news for all concerned!!

BA, Lufthansa, Ryanair, Air France.......the rest bust or taken over.....including LOT and Wizzair etc!!!!

Travel / Clean, safe, comfortable hotels to stay in Warsaw? [12]

Hotel prices seemed to have gone through the roof....but then maybe thats because the zloty has gained so much against the pound and dollar.

The Polonia palace is in a very good location, but its on their main throuroughfare, traffic noise?

Though I believe that on the Tripadvisor site, sometimes when you search it brings up multiple search engines....so you could be checking prices out against 40 plus different search engines all at once, AND prices do differ, so look through them ALL!!!!!!

Yes, here we go, I stayed at MDM.....handle....Iamjustatourist2.....though I gave the wrong recommnedation re which site I booked off sorry, and not sure which one it was!!!

So search for your dates.........all those search engines will kick in.....plus heres another one or two......let us know how you get on!

News / France to lift job restrictions on Poles [84]

It's time we fully rejoin Europe where we belong.

Here here......look....forward now....fill your minds with positive things, blank out your endlessly inept politically leaders...for the last 40 yrs its been the man in the street who has taken the real lead....whether as part of the Solidarity movement or the 100000s who went abroad to at least restore their own personal pride and earn some money...respect to those who have come from a repressed former state with conservative mind sets...who've broken away from the a-s-s-h-o-l-e mitherings of your latest set of leaders......

wow.kaczynski twins are the worst :ex-prime minister and the president poland ever had.they branded all immigrants as "losers" and kept the hated double tax on money earned abroad for 3 years.

Can someone clarify how this worked and impacted?...thanks!

the germans owe you nothing either.

Sorry....but the German race owes the human race...big time......for the next few hundred years.......don't lets forget....their single minded efforts to exterminate, races, nations and states.....Poland being at the forefront.....it was anything but war after your country was conquered, ridding the world of Poland and its people was going to happen, believe me!

Long live Polska!

News / So why is there so much animosity against Poles? [65]

Excellent question and appreciation for the role of Poland's military.

So why is there so much animosity against Poles?

It has no logic and no cause. And, sadly it is a prejudice that is being aided and abetted by the attitude of our military top brass, who are adamantly refusing to allow Poles ready and willing to enlist in the ranks, to do so.

No idea...what you're on about...please clarify.....

As for Southerns post........which cheek was your tongue in FFS.....???!!!!!!!

Are we talking curently...or historically.........?

If historically, Poland seemed to have a knack of joining...less than successful alliances, plus being between two European superpowers, who over the centuries have had run ins with Poland........and on occasions took their revenge when the opportunity presented itself......and yes your country has suffered terribly, I have always felt sorrowful when reading over your recent history!

But.............F-U-C-K the past..........get on with living for today and tomorrow!!!!

UK, Ireland / Boris Johnson has been declared the Mayor of London [25]

hmmm... do you think people voted for his policies...? ;-)

Bubb...not at all....95% of voting is AGAINST something......human nature...lol..Labour/Ken had run their course........

What does that mean? Bottom end? Top end? Where's Boris in that?

Sorry Osiol.....London being a very skewed version of Englishness/Britishness.......both magnified and microcosmed.......

No clearer ....?.....ah well........I'm gunna sack that bloody script writer!!!

;)...:)

UK, Ireland / Boris Johnson has been declared the Mayor of London [25]

What a load of tosh.......so he wants to make London into a bland watered down version of Olso...or other anodyne capital cities?

Why do you think London is such a buzzing interantional city?

Cause of its edge......with that edge brings a hint of danger...in all forms...risks in all forms.

English society has always been brilliant at its top end and s-h-i-t-e at the bottom end...it will always be that way.....

They want to legislate away its very Englishness..........is that a good thing?

Law / What will happen to PLN Zloty when the Euro is adopted? [10]

I believed the zloty was curently "shadowing" the Euro.....ie as the Euro has appreciated agains the dollar and UK pound the zloty has mirrored this 17% appreciation over the last 12 mths.

Ergo...the currency hasnt been "stable" for a 2 yr period but in effect quite volatile!

PS It will be dumped and yes prices will rise steeply as has happened in other countries ezpecially Italy......an opportunity to rob the ordinary member of the public!!

Travel / Cheap airlines are not THAT cheap anymore ! [30]

CentralWings are indeed heading down the toilet at high speed.

End of this year........I expect both CentralWings and Wizzair....to either have been taken over or failed.....

Only Ryanair/Easyjet left......on lots of routes..purely on aviation fuel costs alone....the others cant afford the higher fuel costs plus Ryanair etc have huge reserves.

Travel / Who do you use to make calls to Poland? [33]

I have used another company, 18185, just google this number, plus there is another thread on this...they do texts for 1 p to Poland, mobile to mobile in Poland/or to UK 6p a min, not sure of landline.

Travel / Cheap airlines are not THAT cheap anymore ! [30]

Yup, Ryanair reckons 85% of trips are for 4 days and less, so they believe hand lugagge will suffice! Expect more unusual charges on Ryaniar et al over the next year as the price of oil strikes home....you have been warned!

Life / current pound zl exchange rate [14]

Apparently just over 3 yrs ago the zloty was around 7 to the UK pound, as the zloty is now "shadowing" the Euro , it has appreciated 17% over the last year, so has the zloty also risen by the same amount...if this continues much longer the Polish economy will get into serious difficulties!!

I noticed a big difference in the rate in Poland compared to UK, so best bet is to wait until you are in Poland.
