Language / Things Polish people who speak English language say [180]

See - what you do with your eyes
Sea - Where boats float

ok, that everyone knows.. but what about pronunciation, is the same for both? Any differences? There is more words like this for example 'eat it' - this two also sounds similar for Polish people...

Life / Situation of women in Poland and the society [25]

They are not expected to reach a high education

all this post in one word - suitable will be : **********, nothing more. Today if a girl wants to study - she is a student, most of them uses computers and internet (mostly for IMs like gadu-gadu), they can make career like every single men here. I don't agree that most of them go to private universities.. and one more... foreign languages are taught in almost every private school starting from elementary school.

I think that you are a little bit frustrated, maybe upset coz like you said you were insulted from someone for being a size 6 and that's all.

Life / Situation of women in Poland and the society [25]

Women can do (almost) everything they want... it's up to them. No restrictions.... ok, they can't be priests yet, but it's not so bad... isn't it? We have here sth called 'rownouprawnienie' (equality?).

Language / "Whatever" used as slang - Polish equivalent? [29]

Yes, i know what are rhetoricals questions. I just wouldn't say that 'no i co z tego?' or 'no i co?' may be used as them. Ok, nevermind... in my opinion we don't have sth like 'whatever' word.... that's all.

Language / "Whatever" used as slang - Polish equivalent? [29]

I'd use 'nieważne' or 'i co z tego ?' or 'no i co ?'.

What about 'i co z tego?' , 'no i co?' - ok, you might say that, but the other person is obligated to answer for this... and 'whatever' isn't a question.

Language / "Whatever" used as slang - Polish equivalent? [29]

I'd say "niewazne" or "cokolwiek"

It's good translation for 'whatever' word but it isn't used in similar context. Ekhm, it's hard to explain.. when you say in English for example:

Whatever happen i will be with you.... then Polish translation will be 'Cokolwiek sie stanie bede z toba', but 'cokolwiek/niewazne' isn't rather used as single word sentence.

Sample sentences with whatever from wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whatever_(slang):

Mother: "You must clean your room before you go out?"
Son: "Yeah, whatever".

or
Friend 1: "So we can meet at the bar before we go to the party?"
Friend 2: "Sure, whatever".

'Niewazne/cokolwiek' wouldn't be used as a respond in this cases.

Life / open new email with autograf.pl [3]

it doesn't matter... let's see MX (dns) record for that domain:

[slwkk@slawcio ~]$ host -t mx autograf.pl
autograf.pl mail is handled by 2 mx.poczta.onet.pl.
[slwkk@slawcio ~]$

As you see this domain is handled by mx.poczta.onet.pl mail server... now it's pretty easy to get poczta.onet.pl and here you are, they allow you to register mail account in following domains:

amorki.pl, autograf.pl, buziaczek.pl, onet.eu, op.pl, poczta.onet.eu, poczta.onet.pl, vp.pl

Study / I intend to study in Poland. Please help me. [15]

thank you, but How about the University of Information Technology

There is so many similar (private) IT schools in Warsaw... i didn't heard about this one so it is nothing special... there is only one well known IT private school with good reputation - pjwstk (.edu.pl), and some non-private: UW, PW, WAT - google it. Why did you choose vizja.net?

Love / Are all Polish girls skinny? [85]

Unfortunately year by year there are more and more people who are fat here (especially young people). It's because they eat all this fast food, sweets and so on while they're not do any sport... you know many young people now prefer play some stupid computer games instead go bike, play soccer or sth... sad but true.

Life / Is English taught in schools in Poland? [14]

Is English taught all the way through school?

Yes, when I was in elementary school (~10yrs ago) English appeared somewhere near 6th grade. As far as I know, now English lessons start somewhere between 1-3th grade. It's not efficient learning... it's impossible to be efficient when in class there are 20-30 children. I would say that if somebody is fluent in English it's only his achievement... the second common foreign language in school is German.

Love / Meeting in August? Aghhhh! What do I do? [10]

Yes, I did come to visit the girl but it wouldn't hurt to get on their good side : )

Ok, you're right :)

For a gift, I don't know. Maybe American whiskey for the adults and candy for the younger siblings.

Whiskey isn't bad idea I think.... of course it would be better if you were say 5 years older when giving that kind of gifts, but if you will say them you were thinking about sth typical for America they shouldn't be confused :)

*Note*-I switched my name from hjkjhgfghjk to jimbobby because I'd rather use a name that means something rather then some gibberish.

and the next step is registration here :>

Love / Meeting in August? Aghhhh! What do I do? [10]

so take them all for a nice supper, they will apreciate it.

lol :) sorry, but how can he take them for a nice supper while he isn't from Poland and doesn't know Poland good enough (I'm sure he doesn't know which restaurants are good, how expensive they're and so on)? I can't imagine that... what will he say? Come on, I'm taking all of you for a supper... i know one good restaurant... uppss, I forgot.. i don't have car here ;] - maybe your father will pick us up? Let's be serious, how does it sound? ;] In my opinion he should worry only about that girl... - he doesn't go there for her parents. What about gift you were right - sth typical from America, nothing expensive (it's not necessary), just small gift.

Life / cheaper international calling from Poland [30]

Cheap international calls... hmm probably only voip, skype etc.. if you have kinda smartphone you can use skype on your cell. One thing... only in bigger cities you could use edge or umts... gprs is almost everywhere but it's too slow for skype.

Maybe European Commision will make sth with that expensive international calls soon... I heard they're working on it.

UK, Ireland / Poles to stay or not to stay [in Ireland] - is there a question? [25]

THe polish who work in non skilled jobs and who have skills - i cannot explain why.

I can tell you :) The main problem is language barrier I think. Many people with university degree here have serious problems with (especially spoken) English... not that they don't know it at all but it is far away from communicative English. Nobody will hire you as a doctor, in IT sector or sth if you don't speak English fluently. That's all :)

Love / Polish attitude towards sex [194]

yep, all of them. They generally like to keep in the closet because of their Catholic upbringing

ROTFL, all these generalisations about Polish people and Poland are quite funny... It seems that everyone in this country is catholic, drink vodka/beer/sth?, is racist, thief?, deviant and many many more ... but know what? I don't really care what anybody think about 'us'

I'm quite typical and let's see:

- I don't care about all these religious stuff (and I don't pretend I care like many people do)
- I nearly don't drink (only from time to time, some parties...) - but I know people who don't drink at all - ok, not many ;-) but they really exist here :P

- I don't care about anybody's nationality, skin color, sex preferences and so on [...]
- I don't feel need to talk about sex all the time like some people.... but sex is normal thing - nothing to shame about

I'm sure that many people think the same way so you don't have right to talk about all Polish people. btw, nice provocation :P

Love / How does Polish men feel towards Asian girls?? [137]

I'm an Asian and I was just wondering..hmm...what do Polish men think of Asian women?Hate or love them??

Kinda individual thing, don't you think?

ps. I don't think that sb (normal) could hate people because of their nationality...

Life / Question About Polish Attitudes Towards Non-Polish People: [23]

If I can speak generally - I think that most people really don't care what color is your skin. Ok, there are no many non-white people here so you will be some kind 'different', maybe some people will be curious about your nationality... and that's all. Do you ask if your's skin color can be reason of that someone could treat you not right or even more...? Yes! There are some sick people - I mean racists, skinheads and so on, but hey.. they are everywhere in the world. So in my opinion... don't worry :> You could get into trouble just like anyone in Poland from time to time.... nothing special.
