well, try to say "Dzien Dobry" when you passing by them in the building and flash a polite smile. Could not hurt for now and keep an eye on other possibilities:) for the future. Sometimes all it takes is saying Hello. If those ladies are older, they maybe be having some trust issues. People are the same all over the world, but older people could be tricky sometimes:).

Are you saying that Census is a leftist organization? Census is census, stats data officially published by the government.

From what I understand cities always have a larger population on immigrants, so what you perceive as being a false data is probably not true:).

not really. Judging from his post I figured that he would be the one not t argue with when it comes to being opened to understand that he was wrong. It was rather an emotional post and not really based of data, but rather on observations and anti-immigration feeling, so I was not reserved but just tired to conserve my energy to the maximum.

I disagree. It depends on the quality of parenting, and if both parents contribute, you have a case, if one of the parent does not (either sex) then you don't have a case. It depends on the situation and in the ideal world, both parent are nice, responsible, not stressed out, always have a good job, love each other etc. :)


There is a crisis of a family unit as we used to know it in the past and single parents (most of the time) are trying to do the job right. You forgot to mention that the family unit is going through a transition and sometimes even the single parent family has a small community of friends who are replacing the father figure, or an aunt, or another member of the family.

I know a couple of families where the father was not fit and did not contribute (alcoholic) and after he passed away, the family - children did just fine, considering the situation. Another family I know lost their father at the early age and they are still very successful mainly because they had more challenge when they were younger.

The teacher has absolutely no right to suggest that to the parents. She/he seems to be an ignorant about how children learn languages. They are like sponges and there is no way one language interferes with learning another. I have never heard such rubbish before.

not true. Children learn not only from their parents but also from TV, school, peers and so on. They will have more exposure to English then they will have to Polish, so I a think that the teacher is being unreasonable.

Unless the child has some problems with learning English, in that case it needs to be looked at closely.
If that is the case, there can be many factors contributing to that and it is NOT him/her speaking Polish. LOL
